Long run Friday.  I am hiking Timp tonight, so I had to move the long run to today.

I started running at 5:30 and pushed the pace a little so I could make it home in time to take my mom to the airport by 9.

Beautiful morning, new music on the ipod, so had some great motivation (strange how music can do that) .  Ran my new "Alpine loop," this run is becoming a favorite.  At mile 7 something new happened to me, I tripped!  Went right over a ledge in the side walk and went face first!  I was fine, but it kind of gave me a shock.  Good thing I was running slow enough, that fall felt like slow motion.  A bunch of cars saw me, but I got back up and ran.

The goal of the run was to rarely stop.  Every three miles I would stop and take in fluid.  Today I tried Hammer Nutrition "Heed" drink, it was a little different.  That drink does not have too many electrolytes in it, it has protein, and not too much sugar.  I actually liked it, it didn't leave me with the quesy feeling Gatorade often does.  The Hammer Gel was not my favorite though.

AP of today's run: 8:24!  I was proud of myself.

Came home and jumped right into an ice-bath, it felt soooo gooood.

Happy Friday everyone!

If you are looking for a good tune to run to, my favorite hit for today was, "Fireflies" by Owl City.

WOW BEC!!!!

That is an incredible pace for a 20 miler!!! Seriously ... you or so on top of your game.

Sorry about the face plant though! I did that this winter while running with Huans32 (Mark). I could here him yell my name is slow motion as well, "Teeeeeeennnnnaaaa." So so so embarrassing!!! Glad you were not hurt.

Nice job on the icebath. I have to talk myself into doing that more often ...

Have a GREAT weekend! :)

Teena,

I am imaging your fall right now. hehehe. Catches you off guard, but at least it takes your mind of off running for awhile.

Glad you're okay! a 20 miler at 8:24?!? You are truly inspiring!! I think I need to hit an icebath more often, it may take away some of the nasty residual soreness I always feel stuck with!

I fell once on a run on a busy road in the dirt, I didn't realize I'd done anything to myself until Craig came to pick me up -it was in THOSE days when I'd only run miles downhill then make Craig come get me :) He asked what happened and I looked down and had blood ALL over from my knee to my socks - YUCK! I just wonder what everyone thought as I was running along all bloodied. Glad it wasn't the same for you and that you're okay!! Take care and have fun on the hike. I've always wanted to go to the top of timp - maybe I'll have to invite myself along with you sometime :)

RAD,

For sure we need to plan a Timp hike, ANYTIME!!! I am so excited about going. You should be bring Craig too! There is a group that actually runs to the top every year, I don't know about that.

Your story about the bloody knees is a classic, it made me sad, but I smiled a little too. We are CRAZY runner people, why in the world do we do stuff like that? BYTW the only reason I cruised this morning was because I had to get home. I should run with reason more often. I swear that naturally the JRP trail slows you down.

Leandra,

Thank you for the comment. "Fireflies" is such a good song, I have to contain myself from repeating it over and over.
