I wanted to really hit some marathon pace miles today, so I threw in a 10k.  4 mile warmup at about 8mm.  10k was really difficult for me this morning.  The course was flat, and my legs felt really dead and tired.  I walked a total of 6 times!  5 and 10k distances are distances that I really need to work on.  I felt really strong in this race, but I mentally, and physically, I feel apart at the end.  I was happy about my time, for how I felt, but it needs some real improvement.  I have a zillion and one reasons why I didn't feel go today, but I would not want to bore anyone with that information.

I was a bandit during this race, and I held the two ladies in front of me for about 4 miles.  I don't even know what the time of the winning lady was.  It was fun to see Walter, some guy that runs with the BBK's (sorry I forgot your name), and a few of my friends from a relay I did. This race was laid back and really put together.

I am already thinking about what I wil be doing next week as far as workouts.  I really want a PR at my next race, (Mesquite marathon).

Now that I am looking at my time from my PR on a 10k route,I am proud of myself. I did a 43:35 on a downhill course, and this was flat, and more difficult. I'm okay with that :) There is always room for improvement.

nice race, bec. i thought about doing this race because it was right by my mom's house. then i discovered i was in no racing mood today :)

45 minutes is a solid time and with the flat course it will be a good gauge for future races. i didn't know you were planning on the mesquite marathon. that is really cool. have fun!

Allie,

I wish that you would have come out to the race today. For sure you would have taken home the prize. I agree, some days are just not "racing" days. However, if you would have been there, I would have cheered you on from the rear of the pack!

Nice race Becca! I'm glad you were able to feel good about it (even if it was afterwards). You did a GREAT job and way to push the extra miles and get so many miles in WITH the race.

Yes nice race. With the flat course that is still a speedy time--and stopping 1/2 dozen times!!! Your pace on the race report reads 4:25 so you were crushing the field : DDD.

Great race. 5k's and 10k's can be tough. You'll do great at your next marathon.

Bec,

Nice job. Wow though..if I'd have turned around I would have seen you. Having the massage therapists there was a nice boon to the end of the race.

Julie!! Thank you for telling me that the pace on the race reports said, "4:25"! I put the distance in incorrectly, I will go back and change it.

Twinkies and Blaine, thank you for your comments. It's nice to have positive feedback.
