What a running morning! Rolled out of bed at 5:30 without too much sleep. I was ready to run! So many calories have piled high on my body the past week, it was fair time to hit the asphalt. Met RAD at the cold and lonely JRP trail @ 6. We ran the first 3 miles in darkness that seemed to go forever. Once we hit the turn around spot, the sun started to rise and it was completely beautiful . Hints of hot pink were in the sky and I suddenly became very blessed to be running in good health with a great friend. By the time we finished our time on the trail, the 14 miles we did didn't seem so bad. I had 2 more miles left to hit my goal distance, but I really didn't want to do those on my own. I decided I would go with RAD to her 5K and donate some $ to a good cause. The intention on the race was not to run fast. The first mile was pretty darn slow. By the time I realized I might have a chance at winning, I picked up the pace. I wanted to run on RAD's side, but my pride got in the way. I ended up taking 2nd to my surprise and was given a gift card and hug from the race director. Cool race. Great running.
