Slow and painful is all I have to say... I really don't want to go into the dreadful details of this run.  My feet starting hurting at mile 2, everything else felt fine.  No energy, hot, tired, and the list goes on and on... I felt like I falling apart.  Great motivation for the coming weeks!  Speaking of motivation, guess what the motivation of this run was?  I asked myself what sounded really good, that I would treat myself to when I got home.  DIET COKE was the answer.  I NEVER drink that stuff!  Sure enough, I came home and got a Diet Coke and yes, it was sooooo delicious.

ICE BATH.

Got it done!  I'm going to Lake Powell this weekend and those miles are OUT OF THE WAY!

Maybe I will do some light Xtraining tonight.

It is super hot today! Nice job on that 20 miler. i have a really hard time convincing myself to do a long run if it is not Saturday, it just does not feel right! But, you did it and it is out of the way and you got a Diet Coke-----heaven!!!

Have fun in Lake Powell. Baby those feet!

Thanks Kelli. I thought of you as I drank that Diet Coke, thought you would be proud.

I think I will go get myself one now. I deserve it after my grueling Yoga session.

Take care of your foot!!! The PT has me doing all of these exercises to strengthen my ankle, he says most people do not realize it is typically the route of the PF problem (that and the calf). So, stretch and strengthen that calf and ankle!!! One of the fun things I get to do is pick up marbles with my toes and drop them in a bucket. I pay big bucks to play with marbles!

Nice job on the 20 even though you didn’t feel well. Seeing what you have done this week after the race on Saturday makes me realize how much I need to do to get where I want to be. I am impressed. I’m barely back to running 3 .. haha. Then again, I have been treating myself to a Diet Coke every day, so I think I may have other issues.

A diet coke is okay, just stay away from donuts and cookies!!!

Kelli,

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I have not been doing much to strengthen the foot, just icing and stretching. I will start the marble game tonight! Thank you so much. Um yes, do deserve DC after a yoga session. You deserve one just for the lame, painful foot.

Scott,

You will get there. I am a little bit of freak when it comes to getting my miles in. Just sound like you are normal. Very smart to give your body time to recover.

Oh my goodness! 20 miles in the heat! GOOD JOB! Have fun at Lake Powell! I NEED to go on a vacation...but I can't 'cause other people are vacationing at MY house! :(

For motivation on your next 20 miler, you can think of the wonderful elixir Diet Mountain Dew.

Bec, you crazy woman, however did you get in 62 miles? That is too incredible. I think the most so far for me has been 54, way back in March. And a grueling 20 miler alone, way more incredible. Getting it done is what it is all about these days. I barely made it thru my run today with my comp Mel and her 10mph legs. I felt an "L" being inscribed on my head the longer I went. Painfully sad, but "got it done". Perhaps the "L" can just stand for "Long" : D
