My heart is broken today.  My little kitty I have had for seven years died this morning.  She has been sick for a few days, and I have been hating watching her suffer.  Today I got up to run 18 miles and I found her lying dead next to the back door.  I know it's silly that I got really upset, but she was my little friend.  I woke my mom up and we gave her a proper burial.

I have never ran so emotionally upset before.  I went to the JRP trail and ran up 6, and down 6.  AP was 7:56, I felt so slow, sluggish and sad.  I stopped and cried about three times (I never cry).  I think the run helped me relax and move on a little.  She was just a cat.  I will feel better by the end of the day.

EVERYONE PLEASE WELCOME MY FRIEND "WYCH" SHE IS NEW TO THE BLOG!!!!

I am sorry about your kitty. Whenever I face sadness like that it takes a toll on me and I run to get away and think about everything. You were already out the door so I can see that your run would be affected, still good weeping pace. Animals are a part of us all.

oh...so sorry about sweet little kitty! I'm glad you were able to work out some of those demons on the trail today. It's crazy how emotionally attached we can get to our pets, I had to put my cat down (he was in kidney failure) and I think I spent 2 hours in the room sobbing and not wanting to leave. I didn't have running then!

You carried a GREAT pace for being so upset and you can blame the tears on the wind :) Take some time girl...it's okay if you don't feel better by the end of the day.

Julie and RAD,

Thank you so much for your kind comments. It's strange how attached humans can get to their pets, they are our friends.

RAD,

You are right, the tears were from the wind.

Thanks Bec! I just ran a 5k today with sore hamstrings so I don't know how you ran a 12 miler. I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope you are going to be okay.

I need some suggestions and tips to keep my running up and my pace where I want it. Any suggestions? You have inspired me to go the distance in running.

Bec, I am so so so sorry about your little kitty. My Sabrina got run over by a car and died last year when I was attending BYU Ed Week. I didn't even get to hold her or burry her. I cried for days. May be that's why I did so poorly at PCM. Sabina was always the first to greet me when I got home from my daily runs. Now I have little Serena.

I'm glad you got a "therapy run" in. Have a great week!

Smooth, thank you for the comment. I am happy that my cat didn't die close to my marathon, I don't know how I would run. It is nice that I can use running as various types of "therapy." Today I needed my run bad.

Sympathies to you on the loss of your cat. I know how hard it is, and while our pets are "only" animals, they still become members of the family and excellent friends.
