Its Sunday and I'm feeling reflective.  Time to set some weekly goals and look at my marathon training objectively.  Last year I ran a 4hr marathon, my goal was to break 4 hrs (just wanted a 3:59) but didn't make it by 1 minute.  That was OK 'cause it was my first and I enjoyed the race.  Then I got the idea in my head that I wanted to BQ.  Now its time to come to terms that I haven't put in the effort for a BQ, so I need to reassess and make some new goals for SGM.  I'm not a consistent person and I'm full of excuses,  BUT I think my 2 main obstacles have been #1 starting a new job and #2 my running buddy is pregnant and backing off her runs just as I should be ramping up.  Obstacle #1 is getting better.  I've been in a new schedule for 2 months so although it affected my training in June & part of July, I feel I'm much more under control now and the last month has been pretty good.  Don't have my goals for SGM set in stone yet, but they're looking something like this:  GOLD- 3:45 (BQ) hey while it may not be realistic, gotta keep the possibility alive / SILVER- 3:55 / BRONZE- 3:59, really want to at least break 4 hrs.

Weekly Goals:

1. Hook up with some other running buddies, don't be so dependent on Heather

2. Get in a long run of at least 16 miles come hell or highwater

3. Sign up for The Trails 20 miler Sept. 6th to commit myself to that long run

This is was one of those runs that make me remember why I love to run!  Solo night run, quiet evening, full moon, by the pond & ducks, me & the IPOD.  Legs felt good, effort felt just right.

Foremaster loop with Heather. She is so sweet to still get up early and run with me, I feel like she's just doing it to support me sometimes (she is 2 mo. pregnant)  Didn't take my garmin on this run so not sure of pace, but I felt really good and the run felt easy so I'll consider that a great sign!

20 min abs & arms.  Not much of a workout, but typing it in makes me feel better about my lazyness!

WHOO-HOO! I'm back in the game.  Just had a great 19 miler with negative splits.  Last mile Teresa & I were flying (ok, for me its flying) at 7:11 pace.  It was so fun! Av. pace 8:53 and that's without stopping the garmin at all (we had 4 water stops)  Tammy, Teresa, Conadae (sorry if I slaughtered the spelling!) & I ran the SGM course.  It was so fun! I'm pretty sure I saw Clyde (Superfly on the blog) breeze past us at one point.  Also saw Steve H. out there, looking good! There were lots of people & lots of marathon excitement.  I'm finally mentally getting pumped up! Only bummer is I have 2 purple toes already.  Its probably from all the downhill & shoes being a bit too big.  Gotta get smaller ones.

Going to the lake to play now. Have a great weekend bloggies!
