I got up at 5 and it was already 88 degrees. I got my gear together in my running pack and drove over to the trailhead to climb Crossman Peak. I haven't run with a pack in a long time but I needed to be able to carry a lot of water plus fuel. I had 100 ounces of fluid. Good thing because I drank most of it and still lost 5 pounds on the run. I also put trekking poles on my pack. It was my first time to ever use trekking poles. I left them strapped to my pack until about 4 miles in when it started getting steep and then used them for the rest of the run to the top and all the way back down to the truck.
It was around 3100 foot, 6.5 mile climb to the top. It was nice and cool up there just over 5000 feet and I stopped and enjoyed the view of Lake Havasu City and refueled some before heading back down. It took my 1 hour 43 minutes to get to the top and just over an hour to get back down. Ended up being exactly 13.1 miles which makes me think someone should organize a Crossman Peak trail half marathon.
Happy 4th everyone!
