| | Well guys, I am blogging again... I guess that means I am training again! Well on Saturday I raced at the USATF regionals Track and Field meet in the 4x100;) and the 800 which I placed first and second in each. So I got up on Sunday and was incredibly sore so this morning I woke up early and went for a shake out run, but could barely make it a mile because I was so sore! In the PM I met up with Levi and Larry for a light speed workout to loosen up my legs. So I did 2 laps in lane 8 as a warm up, then I did 8x150 and 8x300 all at 60 seconds. That was really really slow but the first few were hard to get my legs going that fast. But by the end of the workout it was hard going that slow! I just jogged around the last curve for recovery and started again so they were all continuous. Then I stretched A TON and did a mile cooldown. When I got home from my mile this morning, I did my squats, crunches, arm swings, side crunch things, and calf raises. I LOVE SUMMER!!!! So much extra time to do what I should have been doing the whole time! PS! My birthday is in two DAYS!! |

This afternnoon since I am having my birthday party tonight I went on a short run because I had to get home to get ready for the party. So I went to practice early, did a two mile 'run' around the park, met up with Larry and did 8x150 sprints then cooled down till at three miles..... OFF TO PARTY!!! |

| | I AM 18!!!!! So since it is my 18th birthday today, I went to CCC because the kids sang happy birthday to me:) I helped out the 8 and younger kids on their workout because I didnt bring running clothes but I planned not running. (Really bad grammar but I am to lazy to fix it;)) Anywase, I jogged around on the grass cheering the young kids to keep running, then did an 800 meter cooldown with them to keep them moving til the end of practice:) |

| | Today we got up at like 5 and was out the door by 6 and on the road to our mine up in Idaho. But, to our utter amazement, the free way was closed, backed up, and to a dead stop right passed downtown Sale Lake City, so We sat in the car, kept sitting, and sitting, sitting, sitting, and sitting then decided to take the side streets through Bountiful to get passed this traffic jam. Once we passed lagoon, and farmington we were on the road. So When I got to the Hotel, I unpacked and immediately went down to the weight room and ran on the treadmill. Since I had been sitting in the car ALL DAY my legs were incredibly sore. I ran 1.5 miles then stretched, did the quad machine, the hamstring machine, and weighted calf raises then did a half mile cooldown. |

This morning my sister and I got up early and went down to the weight room. I was going to run outside but I didn't want to run outside because it is kind of sketchy here when it is dark. So I did a 3 mile warm up, the quad machine, hamstring machine, 3x20 squats then a mile cooldown.
Later today I am going to do a fartlek workout.... Fartlek on the treadmill is going to suck! |

| | I didn't run this run barefoot, I just got some new shoes that I havn't put into the blog yet. Anywase, I met up with Sarah S. at the East High School Track for a longer run. We decided to do the shriners run. We started out really fast, going like a 6:50 pace for the first mile, and since it was 103 degrees we could definitely feel that!! We slowed down a lot to like an 8:30 which is what we averaged for the rest of the run until the last mile which we picked it up a bit. Because of the heat and fear of passing out because of lack of water, we decided to stop at every sprinklers that were on to cool ourselves off. That really helped! We felt great for the whole run after we stopped for sprinklers. We went out 3 to the drinking fountain which took us across 11th avenue. We stopped at the drinking fountain, stretched, then ran back the same way. We were going to do one last mile on the track, but by this time it was 10 PM and the pitch black track was really sketchy. So we drove home!:) Throughout this whole run, my left calf was really hurting! Not like it was stiff or anything, it felt like I was tearing it...... Weird |
|
| |
This morning, I woke up early and ran only one mile because my calf was still incredibly sore... I am going home and icing it and hopefully that helps. After icing it, I did squats, crunches, side crunches, arm swings and push ups. No calf raises today.
Later today I will go running again. Tonight, since Nadia came over I didn't want to go running for very long so Courtney, Nadia and I went over to the East track and I did 2.25 miles there. I did a mile of grass laps, then I did 4 X strides then cooled down. Since before I finished out to two miles I wasn't done with my last lap I decided to go to 2.25 haha

In the blazing sun above, I went out and did 2 miles..... I ran on the grass to help my calf because it still killed last night.. When I got home I did crunches, push ups, squats, calf raises, side crunches, superman's, and other core activities.... I'll go running later tonight haha This afternoon at CCC, I did a longer run to loosen up my legs and to try to stay in the shade. I went out two miles and back. Half way I stopped and stretched because I was absolutely dead from the heat and lack of water. I feel bad for the people who had to have shirts on at the "U", it was way to hot for shirts..

|
| |
This morning I went out two miles to see how my calf was feeling.... IT FELT SO BAD! I thought I was going to tear it on every step!
At CCC I did a mile warm up, then 10 strides on coach "K"'s hill then did a grass lap. Then I did the team warm up, and timed the distance kids in 400's. I did the last 200 with them and we did 5. Roughly 33-40 depending on the kid. When I got home I did an extra quarter mile to get to 15 |

| | I didn't get up to run but I will try to go later in the day... But when I got to my grandmas house I did squats, side crunches, crunches, push ups, and other core activities. I didn't do calf raises because my calf is still killing me |

This morning I slept in passed my run so I didn't go run in the morning:( But I did do two miles on the elliptical then I did my core: Push ups, crunches, side crunches, bike crunches, superman, and squats. I would have done my calf raises but my calf is still killing me. I will go run later today though. PM: I went over to sugarhouse park to meet up with Levi and Larry for a speed workout. So when I got there, I did a mile warm up, then stretched for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes went by of stretching and no one came so I ran home which brought me to 2.5 miles then I ran 1.75 miles out the other way and back to get to 6 for today. |

| | This morning I met up with Stormy and Eden for a run. We decided to go up to shoreline by the zoo and do a 5 mile run. A half mile into the run we forgot how hilly that trail is and how horrible it is to run on! It was an incredibly fun and crazy run! After that we went over to the grass to do core...... That didn't happen! PM: My sister and I went over to Highlands Track for a light speed workout. I did a half mile warm up, and 800 at whatever pace felt comfortable for me. I was running at 5K Pace so 2:40 is what I hit. Then I did a 400 at mile pace, 75 seconds then I did 6x50 meter sprints for the 4x100 I race:) Then I cooled down til I was at 2 miles. After the 800 I did a lap recovery then after the 400 I did the same. Then I finally started my core when it started drizzling on us. I did crunches, push ups, bike crunches, and side crunches. Then I stretched a ton while my sister was finishing up her lap. My calf was hurting on both runs today but it was bearable... |

| | AM: Half mile warm up, then some things with the 4x100 team then I cooled down till at two miles. Then when I got home, squats, arm swings, push ups, crunches, side crunches and bike crunches. PM: Half mile warm up with Larry, did 8x150 meter strides on the track, stretched and got water in the shade, then 3x400. My times were 73, 74, 72. I wanted to hit 72 for all of them. I don't know if it was the lack of water or the heat or both but after the first one I was ok, tired, but ok. The second one I was dead after, could barely breathe and was hard to finish. I was dreading the third. I had Larry go first and I had to catch him but he dropped out after 50 meters because he got a jolt of pain in his knee... But I did it and hit my time... Finally. Then I stretched in the cool shade and caught my breath again then cooled down till I was at 3 miles. |

Did .75 warm up, 6x150 meter strides, then changed my shoes to my spikes then did 3x200 with 200 jog recovery. My times were 30, 33, 32 then I cooled down til I got to four miles. Utah County Championship (0.25 Miles) 00:55:00, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | | This morning was the Utah County Championships. When I arrived to the meet and checked in, I met up with my 4x100 team which consisted of Vuong, Richard and Brandon but Brandon and Richard weren't here and are not coming.... Vuong and I were totally pissed! So we got two of the alternates in and worked on hand offs! I did a half mile warm up with Vuong then some strides so I got about a .75 warm up for the 4x100. I then changed into my spikes and did some hand offs with Vuong in my spikes. We raced that. Our first runner got us into last place then out second runner brought us up to fifth place, when I got the baton I thought we were disqualified because I thought I received it outside the arrows but I found out I was like 1 inch inside the arrow. But I started to pass people because we were in lane 1 and when I passed the baton to Vuong I got us into first place and then we won that! I ran about a 12.3 in the 100 and Tolbert was ECSTATIC with me! My next event was the 800. I won this race last year. I wasn't planning on running the 4x400 after the 800 but Tolbert wanted me to run the 4x400 instead so I didn't run the 800. So after the 4x100 I did a half mile cooldown. Waited for the 800 and did a mile warm up then found out I wasn't racing so I did 5 strides then .75 cooldown. Then finally for the 4x400 we decided to change the order because Richard and Brandon wasn't here. We ran with Josh and Alex who are 15 and 14 but are pretty good runners! For the 4x400 I did a half mile warm up then about .25 of a mile of strides and hand offs to Josh because this was his first relay. I went first, then Josh, to Alex then finishing with Vuong. I lined up in lane 5 because there was only 5 teams in this race. I started out fast and hit the far end in first place, coming around the second turn I was still in first then I was the timer hit 40, 41 seconds at the 300 so I kicked it in and ran a 55.91 in my split! I got the baton to Josh in first place by about 40 meters! Then Josh extended it by 10 more meters then Alex held the lead and Vuong extended it to about 75 meters on the second team! We won that event also!
Today at the meet I went undefeated but I still feel sad that I didn't run the 800! I cooled down a mile waiting for awards! |

| | AM: Woke up late and went over to Sugarhouse Park with my dad! Did a half mile warm up then 10 weighted strides and cooled down until 3 miles. When I got home I did my squats, superman, push ups, crunches and side crunches. PM: I went over to Highlands Track and met up with Larry. I started out with a half mile warm up then a mile of J's because my legs were sore from the race on saturday. Then I went out and did a lap in the park for cooldown. |

| | This morning I was going to go running but I felt really sick and had a sore throat and stuff. I waited till later in the day hoping it would go away... It never did. So I dragged myself over to Sugarhouse Park for a workout. I did a half mile warm up then a mile of J's then I went out to the road in the park and did a lap of 1 on 1 off. After that I was dead. I felt like I had heart burn, my sore throat was 10x worse, and my stomach felt like I was going to puke everywhere. I didn't do a cooldown. I just went home and went to bed. |

| | Today is my parents anniversary! I slept for like 14 hours last night and still don't feel good. I didn't go running in the morning and I don't know if I will tonight. I tanned out in the hot sun to try to burn it out of me which did make me feel a little better.... I CAN NOT GET SICK!! |

| | Since I got super sick last week and didn't go running at all after tuesday... I felt loads better today so I decided to go out for a mile to see how I did. Before my mile haha I did squats, push ups, crunches, side crunches, planks, and hamstring weights. Then while at my Grandmas house watching a movie I decided to go out for a mile. I went out half way to Cottonwood Complex then back. I felt Great! I am going to sleep in tomorrow then go for a run tomorrow night then back into training! |
|
| | This afternoon I met up with Larry and Frank and Ida Tovar from Highland decided to run with us so that was fun. Anywase since to day is my first day back from running since I was sick all last week I took it easy. A mile warm up on the track, took a sip of water, 8x150 meter strides then an 800. I paced Ida in an 800, she wanted to hit between 3:10-3:30 so we hit 3:15 exactly. She was dyeing after that so we did a lap recovery, 4x150 strides again then another 400 and we hit 92. These times really suck but I havn't ran for a week and I was pretty tired actually.... OH BOY! I need to get back into shape! Then we did a lap and a half cooldown. |
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 3.50 |
|
| | Again met up with Larry and Ida today for a workout. I am sore from yesterdays workout but oh well, I need to continue running! So I did a mile and a quarter around sugarhouse park with Ida then we went immediately into the 8x150 meter strides, I didn't go as fast as I did yesteday on these. I think I am afraid to go fast because I don't want to die... I need to get over that. Anywase after that I just cooled down waiting for my parents to get there because I had to go to a family party! |
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 4.00 |
|
| | Man it is humid outside! So since I couldn't go running when I woke up because I had a family breakfast at like 7 AM I decided to go at noon because it was cloudy.... Not a good idea! I did a half mile warm up, then I alternated 400s with doing one with the weights then one without the weights. I did 3 of each.... I was dripping sweat even with my shirt off because of the heat..... HORRIBLE! Then I did 4 strides and cooled down the .6 it was to get to 3 miles. I will go another three later tonight but currently it is way to humid.... |
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 3.00 |

| | This afternoon I met up with Larry and Ida again at the highland track. When I got to the track I did a half mile on the track then Ida and I did an inside road lap in the park. Then we stretched got water and headed over and did 8x150 meter strides on the home stretch. Then we did an 800 on the track to just loosen up the legs, at 3:30 pace then we went out on the road. We went 8 lightposts out doing arms down for a half light post then for one and a half swinging the arms then down again for a half then up again and then for the last four light poles we did 1 where we sprinted then recovered on one then sprinted one again then recovered then we ran back. Then Ida and I did 2 grass laps in the park and called it a day. No core today. |

| | AM: Woke up early with my dad and headed over to sugarhouse park. I did a half mile warm up, then put on my weights then did my 400s. I did a 2x400 with equal recovery. I was going to do three but I had to go to the bathroom really bad and the bathrooms weren't open at the park. So after that I did a mile cooldown. NOON: At noon I went over to Sunnyside park to do a fartlek workout. I did a lap around the park for a mile warm up, grabbed my water bottle and headed over to the tree to start the workout. I was going to do 10x1 with a minute recovery but after 6 I really needed water badly so I stopped for 5 minutes stretched and got water then I finished the last 4. Then I did a mile and a half cooldown.... I never really cooldowned just made my legs for tired and because of the heat.... When I got home I did crunches, push ups, and planks and am about to take an ice bath if my sister will ever get out of the shower....... |

| | ITS SUSANNAHS BIRTHDAY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSANNAH!!!! So I met up with Susannah, Abigail, Katherine and a few of Susannah's team mates Bekah and Alyssa. They were really nice! We all drove up to pipeline to all do different distances on the trail. I was only planning on going six while most everyone else was going 9 or 10. I started out feeling fine but since this is my first trail run of the summer and I am used to stop lights and stopping to stretch I died after a mile and a half. I did go 4 without stopping though so that is a good thing:) Actually it is kind of pathetic! About a quarter of a mile into the trail we saw a snake on the trail and a dog was barking at it and the snake was hissing.... I hope the dog didn't get bit! But after the first mile and a half I was alone. At 2.5 miles I caught back up to abigail. I turned around at that point and I think Abigail did also because she never caught back up to me but I heard footsteps for about a quarter of a mile after that point. I felt really tired but was able to keep running for 4 consecutive miles.... At a slow pace but was able to continue... When I got to the point where I saw the snake I started sprinting like no other so I wouldn't get bit by the snake! Then I ran up a half mile on the road and back to get to 6. I am really happy I went on this run because it shows me where I need to work on my endurance... I need to work on it hard core! Then I waited for Abigail to get back then I took a 10 minute foot ice bath in the river because my feet were exhausted... Susannah brought us cookies to eat after the run:) Thank you Susannah!!!! |

This morning I slept in a half hour past my alarm so I didn't get my full workout in and today is the one day a week I really need to go early because I have to be at my grandmas house by 7:30 AM! Anywase so instead of doing a two mile warm up I did a half mile warm up, then 2x400 with equal recovery with the weights. I was planning on doing four.... But oh well... Then I did a lap in the park on the road and went straight to my grandmas house. When I was leaving the park I saw Stormy walking in the park!!! But when I got to my Grandmas house I did my squats, push ups, planks, crunches and side crunches. PM: This afternoon I met up with Ida and Larry for a workout. We started by doing 4x150 meter strides then doing a brisk easy 800 in 3:05. Then we got water and went out to the road. We then did 2x1 miles. For the first one we went out then with 4 light posts to go we did 1 on 1 off then run the last 800 hard. Then for the second mile we just go 1 on 1 off all the way out then coming back we ran hard. Then we did an outer lap for cooldown. At about a mile or just under a mile my knee started hurting again so we stopped and walked till just passed the drinking fountain then ran the rest of the way. |

| | This afternoon I met up with Dave, Ida and Larry for a workout. Ida and I did a half mile warm up then a mile and a half of J's. Then I was supposed to pace Ida to run hard for 7 minutes. We were at 3:30 at the half mile so I picked up the pace and we finished the mile in 6:54 and we made it like 25 meters passed the mile mark. We got water then did a lap on the track, got some more water then did an outer lap cooldown. We stopped at the drinking fountain and got water then finished our loop. Ida gave me this gel stuff called no more pain or something to put on my knee and it actually really works! |

This was a big disaster! I woke up early with my dad to go for a good hard workout over at Highland Track! So I ran a half mile warm up around the park then went over to the football field. I put on my weights and was ready to go! I did my first 400 and it felt good but my calf starting hurting again where it was hurting a few weeks ago. Then I did a recovery lap then did my next 400 and it hurt even more. I took off the weight and did a recovery lap and I was limping all over the place so I stopped. When I got home I iced it. Hopefully by tonight it feels better... PM: This workout SUCKED! It was probably the easiest workout of the summer but because of my calf it hurt so bad! Ida and I started out doing an outside lap on sugarhouse park then coming back to our stuff. I made it about a mile then had to stop because I was limping so bad! Then we walked and stretched doing drills a bit then we ran the rest of the lap... We stretched at the stuff then did an inside lap in the park. I had to walk up all of the uphills because those are what really irritated my calf! Man this needs to feel better! I need to get my mileage and my workouts in!!!

| | Since yesterday's workout was such a disaster today was really easy! I met up with Larry for a light track workout. I did 4x150 meter strides. Then we did a timed 1200. I did mine in 4:19 which isn't that bad..... Actually it's horrible! Then I did a lap recovery, then 2 laps of norman J's and we ended the workout with two more laps of backwards J's/ |

| | Met up with Ida today and did a big outside lap around sugarhouse park. Then we came in quickly got a drink of water and started immediately into our inside lap in the park. Then when we finished our inside lap we did a mile and a half around the river. We did what Highland calls 'Rivers' where you start on one side of the river and go up until the wooden bridge then go back across the street passed the basketball courts then we went around the river and came back the same way. Then we went half way around again. After this we went over to our stuff and went over to the river and took a 15 minute ice bath because of my race tomorrow. |

Joseph Smith's Bicentennial 5K (3.2 Miles) 00:25:02, Place overall: 6, Place in age division: 2
This morning I had the Joseph Smith Bicentennial 5K. It was a little over but i'm glad it was over because I saw my time and I was like..... OMG That Is Horrible!!! But I arrived to the race and did a half mile warm up then went over to the starting line and did strides till I was at a mile warm up. I stretched while I was waiting at the starting line. They lined us up and after the usual walk through of the course, no elbowing, its a family event speech they shot the gun off and we were off. I got a pretty decent start, I had a group of guys of about 7 for the first 3/4 of a mile. We went through the mile mark in 6:48... Pretty slow but that course is literally all uphill except the last .1 and a .1 in the middle of the course.... By this point we had strung out with about 25 meter inbetween the guys. At the first water station I grabbed the water and that is when Joe Harris passed me. I didn't see my two mile time but my three mile time was 22:21 which is still really slow!!! That is how I know the course was mismarked. That, and my garmin got it at 3.2. I was dyeing by 2.5 miles and didn't know if I was going to be able to run the rest of the way. But I looked down and saw I only have a half mile till the finish so I toughed it out. I had a pretty strong kick, probably because it was downhill but I am glad I was able to muster up a kick. This event was a really well organized event that I am really glad I ran this year! This is the first year that they did this and I think it was incredibly well planned out. I was talking to the race instructor after the race and he said they were expecting the first few guys to be coming through at about 17 minutes when in actuality the winner came through at 21:56 and he is a high 16 low 17 minute 5K runner. The officials and the runners were all surprised on the intensity and just the fact of how hard the course was. After getting water and fruit at the finish line I got my medal and went home. I didn't do a cooldown... I probably should have! I will go on a run to finish out my miles later today. PM: 3.5 miles around my neighborhood at a very slow and relaxed pace. I was really sore from the crummy race that I ran this morning. But I did finish out my mileage for the week.

AM: Half mile warm up then 3 400s with equal recovery with the weights. Then I cooled down around the track until 3 miles.
PM: 4x150 meter strides then an 800 in 2:51 then a lap recovery. 1 mile of 1 lightpost on and 1 off then a hard 800 to come back to the start. Finished with an outside lap around the park. Felt great for this run except my knee hurt on the 800 on the track.

| | AM: 3.5 miles in the morning around my neighborhood. PM: I did 8x150 meter strides as a warm up then an 800 pacing Ida and we did a 3:01. Then we got our stuff and went out to the road. We did one of those mile things where we go out 8 light posts doing 1 on 1 off like speed changes then on the way back we run the 8 hard. I had to go after that so I only got 2.5 in tonight. |

This morning I woke up early with my dad to get my workout done before the Highland Football Team got there. I did a half mile warm up then my 3 400's with weights on then equal recovery. My calf's were killing me the whole time so I didn't do a cooldown because my calves hurt so bad, it even hurt to stand up. When I got home I am starting my core again, squats, calf raises (if my calf's allow it), crunches, push ups, side crunches and planks. PM: This afternoon before I went to Abigail's goodbye party I biked for an hour. I figure that counts for about 3.5 miles of running.

This afternoon I met up with Larry and did a speed/strength workout. I didn't know it was a speed workout until after the 1200 so my 1200 time is just my average running time. But we did 4x150 meter strides as a warm up then we lined up and ran a 1200. I ran a 5:06 so like 6:45 pace I guess, then the rest of the workout was 800, 400, 200. I ran smooth with really good form and that was the purpose of the workout anywase. We did a lap in between each rep. My times went 3:05, 78, and 33. So my 800 time was slow but I got faster on each set. Then we took two laps around the track and did a road lap around the park. My calf's only hurt on the strides then I didn't feel them the rest of the workout. Did my core; push ups, crunches, side crunches, squats, planks and calf raises

AM: This morning I woke up early but I went to wake my dad up and he was sleeping like a rock and he had the keys so I couldn't take the car. I went and got weights and did leg weights like moving leg weight kind of things for a mile. Until I had did weights for a mile like I did some things with a leg band where is strengthens the inside on your legs, weighted strides, and stuff like that. Then I cooled down three miles. When I was done and done eating breakfast, I did my core: crunches, push ups, squats, side crunches, planks and calf raises. PM: This afternoon I met up with Larry for a light workout. We started with 10x150 meter strides then 2 200s with a jogging 200 as recovery. My times were 33 and 31. Then we did a lap recovery then an 800 in 3:08 another lap recovery, a 400 in 78 I think. It might have been faster. Then another lap and that was all. My legs were so sore the whole time and on the 200's my calfs started hurting again.

| | AM: This morning I met up with Ida at the Highland Marquee for a long run. We went slow because two days ago Ida sprained her ankle and I didn't know how my calf's would hold up. We decided on doing the cemetery run that I would run in high school. I forgot this run a bit but I found my way eventually. We were originally planning on going 7 but my calf's wouldn't handle a lap in the cemetery or a lap at the park. I made it about a mile and a half until I was limping and whimpering like a little puppy so we stopped and stretched my calf's and walked a bit. Then we alternated walking like a 400 then running a mile the rest of the run.... This run was the most painful and miserable of them all. I really want to know what is wrong with my calf's! Then I came home and stretched it out and iced it. I may or may not finish out my mileage for the week depending on how my calf feels. I think I may just take the rest of the day today and tomorrow off and see if time off helps it out any. |
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 6.00 |
|
| | AM: Half mile warm up on the grass then 2x400 with the weights with equal recovery. My calfs really hurt throughout the whole thing. Its not really my calfs that hurt but more my shins and really lower calfs. I might have Shin Splints?? Then mile cooldown PM: I went to the Salt Lake Running Company and bought two of those compression socks. Neon Green and Neon Orange!!! AWESOME COLORS!!! So I met up with Larry at the Highland Track. I saw a lot of people I or Larry knew there, Allie, Vuong, Gio, and some guy that used to race Larry in college. So we went out to the road for a workout. We did a half mile warm up and my shins weren't hurting at all! So I did a timed lap in 9:15, still slower than a few years ago but 22 seconds faster than a few weeks ago before I got injured! My socks make my legs feel amazing! Then we took 5 minutes recovery then a timed mile. Halfway into the mile it started raining, of course it started at the END of my workout but I did my mile from the cars up the big hill passed the gait and down the big downhill and into that weird inlet by the pond. I ran the mile in 5:19 with HILLS! It was exactly .95 of a mile so more like a 5:30 mile but still that is really good for coming off of an injury! I love my socks!!! Then I had to go home but I did two miles on the bike for cooldown. |

| | This afternoon I went over to practice but no one was there.... But since today was the East High School Cross Country Fun Run I decided to run with some East kids:) I did a lap on the road with Vuong, when I finished that I saw Ellie and she didn't know where to go so I walked her over to the team while catching up with her, then I stretched with her and the team catching up.... High School Kids HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Then I ran a warm up mile with Eleanor and Sarah S! Taking about summer with them, we ran a mile around the park on the grass for Sarah's foot. Then I stopped at the start, picked up Vuong then Vuong and I ran 1.5 miles around the park cheering for the High School kids on their fun run! I came home and took a 15 minute ice bath and am now currently icing my shins. |

AM: This morning I got up with my dad, put on my compression socks and was out the door. I did a half mile warm up on the grass and my shin splints hurt but they didn't progressively get worse so I put on my weights and did my 3x400 with the weights with equal recovery, then a mile and a half cooldown. My legs hurt but nothing like it has and it didn't get worse as the run went on. It stayed consistent throughout the whole thing.
PM: This afternoon I met up with Sarah and Larry at Sugarhouse park for a workout. We did 3x1 mile of doing a half mile of speed changes then running the second 800 hard. We did them in the park so we got hills in also. Sarah did really well for it being her second day back running from having a baby! Then I did a few laps around the field in the park. I came home and biked the equivalence of a mile and a half cooldown to get to 5. |
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 8.50 |
|
| | This afternoon I met up with Larry at Sugarhouse Park. I had a very light and easy workout! I did 8 light posts out doing speed changes then I ran the 8 light posts back. Then I ran with larry on the first two miles of the state course to keep him pushing and to keep him running. He did really well! Then I did an outside lap around the park and came home and iced my shins. |
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 5.00 |
|
| | This afternoon I met up with larry to do a light workout before the 10k tomorrow. I started with 2 100 meter strides and then I did 8 light posts out and 8 back doing speed changes..... Larry and I then did a timed mile. We went around Sugar House park the way with the not as steep hills then around the pond and down that inlet thing to the finish. That was is a little over a mile. It is roundly 1.1 miles. I did that in 5:59. Then I did a lap warm up and a little more to get to 4 miles. Then I came home stretched a lot and did another lap around my neighborhood. Came home and took an ice bath and iced my shins. |

Porters Half Marathon and 10K (6.2 Miles) 00:41:07, Place overall: 7, Place in age division: 1
This morning I got up super early because I was racing the Porters Half Marathon and 10K. I obviously ran the 10K. We showed up at Draper park at 6:30 because we thought the race started at 6:45 but it actually started at 7:15. Then we found out the starting line was not at Draper Park but it was a half mile or so up the road. I would have ran to the start line as a warm up but I had no idea where I was going so I had to walk with the group. I got to the start then jogged around a little and did strides expecting to start at 7:15 but they were behind so we didn't start until 7:35 so I stretched at stuff but I lost all of my warm up.
The race finally started and I got a good start, I started out in fourth place and was feeling really good! The start was really fast because it was a steady-steep downhill for the first quarter of a mile. I had never ran a 10k so I didn't know how to pace myself. But I went through the first mile inbetween 5:40-5:45 I didn't look at the mile mark exactly. But I felt like I wasn't pushing at all. I went through the 5k time in 19:20ish..... The course is really easy, mostly flat except for the downhill start and a tiny bit of uphill. But I really died and my shins started to really hurt. I had to walk at the 5k mark to give my shins a rest, then I had to again at the 5 mile mark. I walked for about 200 meters each time. When I finished I was really tired and exhausted and was so happy that I was done!
I didn't do a cooldown, I just stretched waiting for awards. I went and got my medal and since I got first place in my age division they gave me a belt buckle that says first place:) |
Orange Brooks Miles: 6.20 |
|
| | This afternoon I went over to sugarhouse park for a workout. I did a half mile warm up then a mile of J's. I then went out and did an inside road lap then a mile on the grass then waiting for my mom I did another mile going out and back every quarter of a mile. |
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 5.00 |

| | This afternoon I met up with a bug group. I met up with Sarah, Larry, Andrea and Tim. I did 8 strides with Larry the stretched while waiting for Andrea and Sarah to finish their strides. Then we did an 800. I hit 2:55 then we did 4 more strides. My shins are absolutely killing right now because I wanted to try to run with out my socks. Then I did another 800 in 3:02 then I did a lap around the road in the park with Andrea talking about races and things |

this morning in honor of the first day of school for the high schoolers I ran out 2.5 miles past east then back. I made it to just about the cemetery then I ran back. As I was running back the High Schoolers were just arriving at East.... #memories. Oh the good ole days of high school running!1
Did my core when I got home.
I went for my run at about 2:20 in the afternoon because I had to go to a training at 5. So I ran down to sugarhouse park and when I got there Highland was just getting out for their first day of school so they all cheered me on... and liked my socks! Good thing I didn't wear an East Cross Country shirt! But when I got to Highland I immediately went into doing an outer grass lap then I went in the park, ditched the shirt then measured a 400 going up the hill at about 150-200 meters so that way I would have about 200 meters after the hill to really push. I did in on the downhill on the state course at about mile 2 but I went up the hill on the road. I found it was exactly 4 light poles out so they are each about 100 meters long because it was like .27 to the light pole so I just went to the pole. I did 2 going up the hill with recovery running back down the hill. I was going to do 3 of them but after the second I was feeling like I was going to puke, probably because of the heat or I haven't done hills all summer... or both! Then I did a mile cooldown then took an ice bath in the river. It didn't really work because I am still sore!! 3 miles warm up... |
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 10.00 |
|
| | This afternoon I met up with Larry at Sugarhouse park but to our surprise it was the Highland Invitational.... So I jogged around cheering on my friends that were running, I missed the Varsity Boys but I made it in time for the JV Boys and the Varsity Girls. It was way cool seeing Nate. I wish I could have seen who I did but I'm glad that's all I saw. I spent the rest of the time dodging from seeing people because I wouldn't want to ruin their day by seeing me... So I did a grass lap, cheered on the Varsity girls for another mile and dodging some people then I did another mile then got zupas for dinner. I love still being on summer vacation!! |
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 5.00 |

| | This afternoon I ran over to sugarhouse park and did an outer lap around the park. Went inside the park and did 2x400 on the poker hill that we ran in high school. With equal recovery. I first measured out the 400. Then I ran a cooldown to 5.5 miles home. When I got home I did my core and weights then ran a .8 mile cooldown. |

| | today was my first official day of college!!!! So at my fitness class we ran around campus for 2 miles. We were supposed to stay as a group and just go for a 20 minute jog and since the whole class was a beginner runner so we ran slow.
PM: when I got home I ran around my neighborhood for four miles and then I came home and did my leg weights. No core today because I need to get to bed. I LOVE COLLEGE!!!!!

| | AM: This morning I finally got out the door again and ran with my weights. I did a half mile wam up then ran 4x200 with my weights to ease into the weights again. I had less recovery on each, 1 minute, 30 seconds then 15 seconds. Then I did a mile cooldown.
PM: this afternoon I met up with Larry on his 50th Bithday! Andrea and Tim for a fartlek workout. We started by doing a mile of speed changes on the road by alternating lightposts just like on the track. Then we ran 3 miles of the state course with 10x1 with equal recovery. We were on on every up hill! After each hill Andrea, Tim and I all spread out so Tim and I had to go back and get Andrea so we could stay as a group. Then we did a mile cooldown and I iced my shins. They hurt really bad after this workout.
Second Day of College complete!

|
| | AM: This morning in my fitness class we had a time trial of a mile. I ran a half mile warm up around the University of Utah's track then immediately lined up. I needed more warm up and stretching and strides. I ran a 6:24. Oh well, how we pass the class is we have to beat that time at the end of the semester so I am good. I was never planning on going all out I was just expecting to at least get under 6... Oh well, I lapped most of the class. Then I did a half mile cooldown in the heat. THAT TRACK IS SO HOT!!!!
PM: I met up with Larry for an incredibly light workout. I did a lap on the road with larry and I forgot my socks so my shins were absolutely killing me. I was only able to muster up another lap around the park because by the end of it I was basically walking because I couldn't stand the pain.. I came home and iced my shins.

So I drove over to Sugarhouse Park and ran perimeter laps barefoot until I got 5 miles. At about 3 miles I stopped and stretched my shins and everything for about 10 minutes then I did another lap. Time for Tanning and Studying before class!!!
PM: I went over to sugarhouse park, did a half mile on the road then an outer lap around the park and an inner lap around the park. Then I put on my weights and ran an 800 with the weights. Cooled down a half mile then back to homework.

Foam Fest 5k (3.1 Miles) 00:21:30, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | | This morning I ran the Foam Fest 5k. It is like the Dirty Dash but with mostly foamy water instead of mud. I arrived at This is the Place Park and did a mile warm up and stretched a lot because I am not wearing my socks so my shins are going to hurt.... I lined up, stretched and did some drills then the announcer went over the course and the obstacles and we were off. I got out pretty well, in second place. I stayed in second place through the first obstacle which was the mud crawl. You crawl under then wires that are electric and if they touch you they shock you. It's not a really painful shock but it still hurts and it was really surprising that they really did shock you. Then I got out of that covered in mud and took the lead. The next obstacle was you run over this mat that is floating on the water but it sinks when you step on it. I got through that one really fast because I was the only person on it, it didn't sink as much. Then came an obstacle that you just run through a pond of soapy water being sprayed with water. The pond was only a foot deep but it was nice to get the mud all washed off of myself. From the first obstacle on, I was alone the rest of the race. The next obstacle was an 8 foot tall wall that had foot holes that you climbed over. That one hurt my hips..... After the wall came an 80 foot long water slide! I slid about half of the way then stopped so I had to push my way through the rest of it. After the slide came the spider web where you climb through all of these wires. It is pretty much like climbing through a spider web! After the web came the trip wire where they have wires that are the same color of the ground that are different heights that trip you. I stumbled a few times because I didn't have my glasses so I couldn't see the wires. Then came a 5 foot wall to climb over. The hardest obstacle was next. The dreaded cargo climb! This is a roap ladder that is about 20 feet wide and 30 feet high that you need to climb up and over. That one freaked me out because there was no net under it. If you fell.... OUCH! I lost some time at this area. Then we had the lemon water thing where they had a mat on the water pit that you ran over with GIANT hanging lemons that were supposed to knock you down. Since I was the only one on the obstacle, I didn't have a problem getting through this. The final obstacle was a 30 foot water slide and I was sprinting to the finish the dove to the slide and went shooting off the other end! After I got my medal and shirt, I went home because I was a soapy, muddy mess. GREATEST RACE EVER!!!!!!

I averaged 7:13 minute pace.

Then we did 10 crunches, mountain climbers, and superman, then ran a timed lap, then did 20 of each, another lap, 30 of each and another lap. I made it all the way up to 5 400s and 50 of each. I ran my 400s in 85-86 seconds. Then a mile and a half cooldown to finish out to 4.

Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 4.00 |

| | This morning I went to my fitness class. We walked up to the University of Utah's track for a fartlek workout. I did a half mile warm up then started the workout. It was 4 Minutes on, 4 Minutes off, 3 On, 3 Off, 2 On, 2 Off, 1 On, 1 Off. Not that hard to stay on pace because of the really long recovery. But on the last one minute on I was outkicked by some swimmer that I was lapping. But oh well, I am not a sprinter. But then we did a lap on the track then I ran home. I ran up to Mario Capecci drive, down to foothill, over to sunnyside and down to 1900 East and home. Very hot run.

| | Today was my first day back running since I was sick... Boy was it a tough run... I started with a half mile warm up, at a 6:45 pace, it didn't feel that fast at all.... But then we did the 10x1 minute on one minute off fartlek workout on the University of Utah track. Great weather, suns out, shirts off. I started out with the second fastest guy Jake, but I kept gaining ground on him on the recovery so I just decided to keep going because I felt fine. I got 2.5 miles done in the workout, the same as I usually do when I am not sick so I didn't loose much fitness. Then I cooled down a mile running around campus.

| | This morning after my morning class, I have two hours until my next class. I walked up to the locker room, changed then went on a run. I went up to shoreline trail, over to red butte, down to presidents circle around to greek row, up until university street or whatever it is called, then back onto shoreline and finished out till 4 miles. Ran back to the locker rooms to finish out at 4.
Tonight, I ran with Tim, Larry, and Andrea at Sugarhouse Park. I did a lap around the park with Larry then ran around the park until at 7 miles. I forgot how much fun it is to run with Tim. I averaged 7:34 so my pace is coming back...

| | AM: At my fitness class, we had a sub. We walked from HPER up the the University of Utah track for another track workout this week. We did a short jog as a warm up, drills, then she made us do two hills by the track.... Weird warm up. Then we heard the workout was 3x1 mile repeats. I was nervous I wasn't able to hit my times because I havn't ran hard for a while and am still feeling really sick. We started fine and my times were suposed to be 6:30. My first one was 6:29, then we took 2 minutes recovery and started again. The other guys in the class started before me so I got to chase them down. We did the second mile going the opposite way on the track. My time was 6:07. I felt fine. I told her I shouldn't do the last one because of my speed workout tonight, so I just jogged around to finish at 3 miles. About 3 laps cooldown. Good, productive workout.

Then I did a mile warm up. Went up to the Highland Track, did an 800 in 3:02, wanted to be under 3 but my first lap was way to slow, like 100 seconds or something so I had to haul it and almost hit my pace. Then I did an 800 recovery, then put on my weights, and did an 800 with those then cooled down a mile and a half. Was going to do more either on the track or with the weights but my legs were absolutely exhausted.

| | Today was our second out of 4 mile time trials. I did just over a half mile warm up because the other guys wanted to get it done instead of getting a good warm up in.... So Chris is like "5 minutes till we start so get your warm up in"........ Ok well I got a half mile warm up then stretching. Last time I wore my spikes but today I didn't because my shins have been hurting a lot more recently. So he lined us up as we finished last time so I was lane 1 spot 1. I started out in first place for the first lap then on the second lap Brendton, Mike, and John caught up to me, we went through the first lap in 1:27, then Brendton took the lead and held it the rest of the mile. With 2 laps to go Brendton thought that was our last lap so he started kicking and he gained 50 meters on us in the first 200 of that lap then Mike, John and I maintained his pace for the next 200 meters. On the last lap I started picking up the pace because Mike and John were right on my heals, we gained the ground on Brendton but he beat me by a half a second! He beat me by 10 meters, I was furious! I ran a 6:04, Brendton ran 6:03, Mike ran 6:05 and John ran 6:06... Not a good mile. I wish I would have worn my spikes or flats because I would have beaten him! Then I did a lap on the track the opposite way and ran home. 7:04 pace for the first 5 miles. I hit 5 miles at my house then I managed to get on the treadmill for the last mile.

| | Ran 4.2 miles around the neighborhood before I went to the grand canyon today for FALL BREAK!!!~ A week off y'all! Met up with Sarah and ran from her house, over to 1300 south, up to foothill and over to 2100 south, down to 17th east and over to 1700 south, down to 1600 east and over to Browning ave and back up to Sarah's house. I felt bad because I made Sarah go so slow and had to stop a few times because I have not ran up hill at all this year.... It is so pathetic how slow we were going and I was still really tired! I really need to run more uphill. When I got home I did my core, squats, wall sits and calf raises and ran the .3 for 4.5

| | This afternoon I went on my run at the Grande Canyon. It is incredibly windy here! Our hotel is on the freeway so I cant run on the road but I managed to find a trail that lead me to a neighborhood. I ran out a mile, then did 2x400 strides up a hill. The hill wasnt that steep but I need to start somewjere with hills. Then i ran home which was all up hill, back to the Hotel and I was still going against the wind no matter what direction I was running. Averaged 7:06, my slowest mile was my last mile which was 7:08 so my uphill pace is coming back.

| | I really need to remember to blog.... Anyway, in my fitness class, since it is the first day back from fall berak and the fitness classes are only a half semester I registered for a new class and I was the only one who showed up... Then girl finally came later liek with 5 minutes to go. Hopefully I am the only one in it;) I ran around the track for a mile and a half with this girl going at whatever pace she wanted and was like a 9:30, then I ran home and brought the average down to a 7:27. Good run... Need more uphills.

| | At my fitnes clas Mike and Brad came so I did a mile warm up on the U track with them. Then the workout was 500, 400, 300, 200, 100 with 400, 300, 200, 100, 100 recovery of continuous running. After the 500 I felt like puking but I managed to get through it and finish. I wasn't allowed to time myself but the instructor timed us and we will compare our times later in the semester. Then I did a mile cooldown the other way on the track. Came home and did my squats, wall sits, calf raises, crunches and side crunches. My parents were late picking me up from work so I didn't wear my usual shoes or my compression socks and my shins didn't hurt at all!

| | AM: 5 miles easy around Sugarhouse
PM: After my review session for World of Dinosaurs and before ASUU I met up with Larry at sugarhouse park. I ran down to the park from my house, did an 800 on Highlands Track in 3:08, I havn't ran an 800 for a long time or fast for a long time... Then we did 4x150 meter strides and then a timed lap on the road of the park. I ran 10:01 but I had to stop half way through and go to the bathroom and that is including the bathroom stop. Then I had to go to ASUU so no cooldown. 3.5 miles.

| | this morning I met up with my fitness class at the track. we did a half mile warm up then heard the workout. It was 3x800 with 2 minutes recovery. We were supposed to hit half of our mile time from the last time trial plus 10 seconds. since we all were within 3 seconds of eachother, we stayed as a group. Our time was 3:15 which is slow for me but oh well. we took turns leading. i lead fitst and we hit a 3:11, Brad lead on te next one and we hit 3:12, Mike waon tge next one wass supposed to lead on the next one but he dropped out on the second one so he wanted to be in the middle so we boxed him in so he wouldnt drop out. Brad lead the first lap then I lead the second lap. We hit 3:03 so that is more my speed but I was frozen because it started hailing and raining on our first one,.... OF COURSE! I was going to run home but my dad luckily came and picked me up after I did a two lap 'cooldown' in the hail and snow.. I biked the rest of the 2.5 miles. It is hard to blog and bike at the same time. I need not to stay with the group at the fitness class, I need to be ahead of them. It is just really hard to push on your own.

| | Again don't wanna go out again because of the car wreck. Don't feel comfortable yet.
|
| | Finally Feeling up to leaving the house again so I went from my house over to 1700 South, up to foothill, stopped and stretched at the light and accidently missed my light.... Oops! Ran along foothill over to 2100 south, down to 20th east, over to Dilworth down to 1900 east and home. Stopped at the light on 20th east to fix my shoe then decided to turn so I didn't need to stop anywase. 7:41 pace. Came home and did my core and weights

| | Ran from HPER up through the dorms onto shoreline trail and stayed on the trail until 3 miles. I have not ran on a trail for a long time.... Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 6.00 |
|
| | Met up with Larry and Andrea, did an 800 warm up with speed changes inside Sugarhouse Park, then did 6 quick feet strides, then a mile with 4 speed changes in it then the last 800 was one long speed change I gues, because I didn't know to do one long speed change Andrea caught me at about the 400 then I picked it up.... Then 2 laps around the park with Andrea going both ways, one going one way and the other going the other way.

| | OUCH!!! This run was incredibly painful! My shins were killing me even though I was wearing my compression socks. Today was way cold at my fitness class, so cold I had to get out the old running tights. Anyway, Matt and I did a two lap warm up around the U's track then heard the workout, it was a 2 mile tempo at 6:45 pace. When we started my shins started to really hurt. I went through the mile in 7:01 so I decided to stay on the 7 minute pace. With one lap to go I was on 7:22 pace and limping like I broke my shins but I was able to brin the pace down to 7:07 and finished in 14:08, not the best workout at all but I am glad that I finished the workout. Then I did a lap around the track in the opposite direction. I walkee over to the trax startion giving my shins a break then I ran home... Slow slow slow pace. Averaged 7:24 so I was doing 7:45-7:5X's on the run home... Painful run! Now I am icing my shins
|
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 6.00 |
|
| | I took Wednesday Night, Yesterday and Today off to see if that would help with my shins because they are absolutely killing me even with the compression socks. Anyway I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the stepper and biked 5.5 miles. I am counting that as 5 miles running. I then did shin strength things, crunches, side crunches and calf raises. I am going to try to run tomorrow to see if my shins hurt, I am aiming for 3 miles and hoping for 3 miles of pain free. I am going to stop when the pain gets to severe and all I am doing is limping along....
|
|
| | I had my dad drive me over to Sugarhouse park to do a light run to see how my shins were feeling... They Felt GREAT! I did an outer lap of the park, I ran on the new paved trail and it is quite nice, I like going behind everything. Then I went in the park and finished out to 2.5, 7:40 pace. Then I came home and did the rest on the elliptical and did my shin weight kind of things. Hopefully I am totally good by monday!

Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 5.00 |

| | AM: Ran from HPER down to the cemetery on 5th south, did a lap around the cemetery than ran back up to campus. 7:42 pace. Starting to feel better around my shins and on hills!
PM: 4 miles on the treadmill to give the shins a rest.
|
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 7.00 |
|
| | Did a mile warm up around the Highland High school track, then did 8 strides with progressive pick ups half way along the stride... My shins hurt right at the beginning of the run but as time went on they started to feel better and by the end they were not hurting at all. I am not sure I should do the speed workout in my Fitness class though... HMM... Then I did a mile on the track and an outside lap around the park. I love the new trail but it is super sketchy when it is pitch black and I cant see the creeper hiding behing the bushes. Came home and iced my shins for 10 minutes each then I facetimed Dominique for 2 hours..... WE HAVE NO LIVES!

Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 5.00 |
| |
| | umping AM: In my fitness class since the track was closed for construction we did 400s around the huntsman center, We did 10 and each was about a .27 around the center. I was hitting 100 seconds on each lap, I hit all my times exactly. After each 400 we did an excercise, lunges, 2x30 seconds of step ups, burpees, push ups, calf raises, wall sits, squats, jumping squats. Then I ran home. My shins hurt way bad on the way home. we only went one way around the huntsman center and I wanted to alternate so both legs could be on the outside... Oh well, 7:11 pace.
PM: 400 meter warm up, 12x150 meter strides with the last 4 being progressively getting faster, then a lap around the park and ran home. NIce cold dark run..... I HATE WINTER!

| | I didn't go running today because I was on campus until 8 PM because I had class then ASUU then a group project, but I did play an AWESOME game of mini golf with Susannah! It was sp much fun! Such a creative course! Then I walked from the union, (after my World of Dinosaurs class) Down to presidents circle, walked the whole circle, up to the engineering buildings, up to the medical school all the way over to JCC back down passed the WEB and the union, down to SSB over to the library and to my group... My back pack was so heavy by the end! I am not used to walking with my back pack anymore!

| | AM: This morning I met up with Mat for a run. We ran from HPER passed the huntsman center, down to Guardsman, and in to the cemetery. Did a lap in the cemetery then ran back up to campus the same way. We rolled out then I went and finished my run. I ran from HPER up passed the huntsman center again, up to Mario Cappecchi drive, down to foothill and over to Sunnyside, down to 1900 East and home. 7:39 average. Now I am drinking a protein shake and sweating so bad! I overdressed for this run because when I went to work this morning it was freezing! Shorts tonight!

| | I was supposed to go running last night but ended up having to go to peer court so I didn't have time. But his morning since I dont have class until 9:10 I got to go run. I walked out the door and said "NOPE way to cold" so I went back inside and ran on the treadmill butt that got way boring way fast so I alternated biking and elliptical, Now what to do for 2 hours before I go to school. I love College!
I think it is time for new shoes..... But I went over to Sugarhouse park ran up to the Dunken Donuts because it was the first day it was open and had to see Stephanie because she was working there! Then I ran back down to the cars and Andrea was there so I did a haf lap with her to get 2.3 miles warm up. Then I did a few strides and heard the workout. It was 1 lap of 1 on/off for half the lap then run hard the second half of the lap, then 2 on/off for the next lap then a lap the other way for cooldown. My ankle was hurting on the warm up, it just felt like it wasn't supporting my weight but it seemed to warm up. On the lap of 1 on/off I was fine but the hills were hurting my shins so I was pulled and just did a lap cooldown to finish 5... I was really bummed becasuse I really wanted to do this workout because it was a really good one. I think I willl do it either tomorrow night or friday night because Thursday I can't run at night because I am going to the early showing of CATCHING FIRE!
|
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 9.00 |

| | Today I was the only person to show up for running so I ran up to JCC and back.

| | I really need to remember to blog... Anyway, I ran down to Sugarhouse Park as a warm up then weighted form my dad to bring my weights. I did a third of a mile with the weights on the field then I did a hill. I did that twice then I went home and watched the rest of the Harry Potter series! Harry Potter Marathons RULE!
|
Saucony Kinvara 3 Miles: 2.50 |
|
| | Met up with my fitness class for a workout. We did a lap around the huntsman center for warm up then heard the workout. It was 1600, 1200, 800, 400 or 4 laps, 3 laps, 2 laps and 1 lap around the huntsman center. The Huntsman Center is .27 around so we were doing extra on each lap. I don't know my times for the mile, 1200 or 800 but my 400 was 88 so around 80 for a 400. I think this class is making me slower because I felt like I was sprinting on that 80.... Then I ran home along foothill over to 1700 south and down to 1900 east and home. That went by SO MUCH FASTER than the usual way home.
I think I am getting slower because Mike outkicked me on the last 400 and I was at least 50 meters ahead of him on everything else. He ran an 85 or so. Maybe this fitness class was not the best idea because I am getting mileage but it is SLOW! I ran home the same pace I did my mile at..... 7:01 average for the run.
Since it is my sisters birthday today we are going to the Lion House for lunch! YUM! She is turning 20! Happy Birthday Courtney!

| | Since in college we DO NOT get the day before Thanksgiving off from school, I have class this afternoon:( But since I work in the Salt Lake School District I did not have work this morning so I got to sleep in til 8 AM!!! When I woke up I at a bagel then realized I need to running so I waited a while then went on the run. I ran down to Sugarhouse park, I felt HORRIBLE! I felt slow, fat, cold, and stiff. For the past few days my ankle has felt really weak like it can't support my weight and today it was really bad. I looked like a wobbly old man walking across the street. I managed my way to Sugarhouse park hoping I would warm up and I never did so I did a lap with alternating lightpoles speed changes, then stretched hoping that would help... No such luck, did another lap doing two lightpoles on one off... Still not feeling like a runner then I came home.... I averaged 7:39 but I had to walk up a few of the hills because I was exhausted. I don't know why I was so tired this morning. I walked 3 times! I am so mad at myself for having to walk.... I should've pushed through it or ran slower. Maybe I am just not used to running in the morning because I ususally dont run until 11 AM or 6 PM. I don't know. Today was very dissappointing...

| | HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!! This morning I met up with my RUNNING BUDDY! Ida is home from BYU for Thanksgiving!! We met at Sugarhouse Park, not knowing there was a Turkey Trot there... We would have done that if we knew! Anyway, we decided to run up to the H Rock. We ran up 2100 South until 2300 East, then we turned up the first right.. I think it was also 2100 South but I am not sure. Then we ran up that until passed foothill until the highest street then we went on the trail up there and got to the H Rock. Then we stretched for a long time talking about college. We stretched for probably 20 minutes.. Way to long! But time got away from us talking about college, majors, classes, the U and BYU. Then we came back the same way but once I got to 1900 East I had to turn and go home.... Now it is time to prepare for TURKEY DAY!!!!! I wore my old orange Brooks to see if that helped my ankle and it did! It is definitely time for new shoes.. Luckily tomorrow is Black Friday;)

| | This afternoon I met up with Ida after a LONG night of Black Friday Shopping. I ran from Sugarhouse Park, up to 2100 east, over to 3300 south back down to the park. Averaged 7:38 and didn't have to stop! I am starting to feel like a runner again! I am going to take the rest of the weekend off to try and heal my shins... Hopefully it works.. It is getting really painful and REALLY annoying!

PM: Since I couldn't stand going outside agian, I ran 7 on the treadmill while texting Sarah S! While she was driving to footlocker... Boring yet really interesting run! GOOD LUCK AT FOOTLOCKER! I need to hit the treadmill more because I am not going to run outside enough... I am not that dedicated! I need to get more dedicated!

| | Since I am so bad at blogging in the winter and only do it at work... I had my dad drop my sister and I off at the U's Field House. I did a mile on the treadmill then speed changes... Or tried to at least. Then two more miles on the treadmill. I loved this run because the Field House had Fred Clause and 4 Christmas's on the TV! I love Christmas Movies. LAST WEEK OF MY FIRST SEMESTER OF COLLEGE!!!

|
| | OUCH! Today since it was too cold in my classes opinion to go running at 9 AM, we did circuits inside HPER. We did, push ups, planks, squats, calf raises, then a ton of stuff with the medicine ball and weights. I am going to be sore tomorrow!
|
| | Since I have basically taken this whole week off I figured I will cross train this week instead of run because it is GEEK WEEK... I AM FREAKING OUT! I also thought I would totally heal my shins then start up again next week when I don't have class and only one final. College is awesome! I am on XMAS break except on Wednesday of next week I have to take one final! So today I got on the elliptical after my World of Dinosaurs final. I did the elliptical for 20 minutes then I did weights. Some of the hip weights we did on Monday. Then I went to the Pre Showing of The Hobbit. IT WAS AMAZING! 3.5 hours of sleep then I had work.... AWESOME!

| | Since no class this week I went on my own. Considering it is my first day back in a WEEK I didn't go far or fast. I ran from my house, to SGH and around there. At 2 miles I stretched. Then I ran home and up to 1300 south and back. Came home and did core. 8:02 pace.... SLOW:(

| | AM: This morning I went on a short 2 mile run just to get miles in. I ran from my house, up to Clayton, down to 1700 east, over to 2100 south back up to 1900 east and home. Felt good. 7:30 pace.
PM: Met Andrea at SHP for a workout. I did a mile warm up at 7:08, then we did 10 strides going around the park. We did one light pole hard, then waited 20 seconds, then another, so on. Then we just ran the rest of the way around. Then we went the other way around the park and did the same thing. I felt really good. 7:05 average. Breathing was really hard and it hurt but that is because of this horrible SMOG! Then I went home and looked over my math... Last final of the semester tomorrow!! Wish me Luck!!!

| | Ran from my car in Presidents Circle up to JTB (Across the street) so that way I wouldn't be late to my last final.

| | Because of the absolutely horrible weather outside, it is still snowing! My mom wouldn't let me go do the original plan workout. As I was changing to go to the fieldhouse while my sister took her last final, they left without me so I was stuck doing the workout on the elliptical/bike. I started with 30 minutes of elliptical and then 5 miles on the bike. At mile 2 on the bike I had to stop and run upstairs because I left my glasses on the elliptical machine and I didn't want them to get broken. I am counting this as 5 miles because it was 50 minutes of constant work on the legs at a hard pace. On the elliptical I had the resistence on 2 then every 5 minutes I upped the resistence 1 and ended on 7 resistence. Then I biked 5 miles and that felt really easy so every half mile I did a half mile hard then one recovery. After that I did my crunches, push ups, planks and calf raises. Then I finally ended with 20 lunges on each leg. My legs are tired! Now it is time to FINALLY brush my teeth and get ready for the day. I love Christmas Break!

| | CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN: 3 Days!
Did the government pass a new Law that I didn't hear about? Is it illegal to salt your sidewalks or at least SHOVEL the sidewalks? I went from my house over to 2300 South then continued until 2700 South. Staying on 2100 East until 3300 south where I turned down and continued until Imperial then I took Imperial until Sugarhouse Park where my dad picked me up. This run was INCREDIBLY slow!! Started at a 9 minute pace then I was able to average it out to an 8:36 pace by the end. The ice and snow all over the roads and sidewalks made me run really slow and really cautious! On top of all things, I got this huge blister on my big toe:( Then I came home, did my crunches, push ups and calf raises. Now I am sitting in front of the fire doing a puzzle. How Christmassy???

| | After spending pretty much all of my money in the Park City outlet stores, I managed to go for a run. I bought myself some new Nike Flywire's and wore them. I did 4 strides warm up again then we did 8 lightpoles with the 20 second recovery thing then we ran the 8 light poles as an 800 hard. Then we started with the 800 then came back with strides. On the third mile repeat we did the strides first then the 800 coming back. Then I jogged around to get to 4 miles then I did 2 laps around the park.

| | This afternoon I decided to go for a run because yesterday I felt so bad for not running but I was with family ALL day. I did the same run as last Sunday. I felt so much more exhausted than last time! I wore way to many clothes! I guess I didn't need the running tights, long pants, long compression socks, ear muffs, hat, long sleeve shirt and running jacket and a pair of gloves. I would probably have been fine with just the tights and the long sleeve shirt...... Anyway I averaged a faster pace than last week but I was really tired throughout the whole run. I am glad I got out the door though. I felt like I was going 9-10 minute miles but I was going 7:30-8:30 depending on ice. I like this run a lot. When I got to SHP I saw a ton of people I knew! My cousins were sledding and I saw Ben. Fun but HOT AND EXHAUSTING run!
