Today my mom, dad, and I all went out to the East High track for a short nice shake out run because I have not been on one of those in a while. So as my parents were walking vigorously around the track to get a new PR at speed walking ;) I did a run. I started with a mile at the track doing two grass laps. Then I went out. I went up to 15th east and went into that trail, I forgot what it was called. Then as I was doing my lap in that trail loop thing I saw Janie Kearl and her friends. So I said hi and kept going. Then I exited the trail and just went back. Later tonight I am going to do my crunches, push ups, and weighted arm swings and take a 15 minute ice bath and stretch.  HAPPY NEW YEAR

Today, since I have practice tonight, I decided to just go over to the track and do speed changes. So when I got there, the sprinters were there doing their workout. So I did a mile warm up doing grass laps, and I then started with the speed changes. I did 2 laps of J's and 2 laps of regular speed changes. I was going to do four of each but since I have practice tonight, I figured its going to be speed so I only did 2 of each. Then for a cooldown I did my 2 grass laps. Overall it was a easy light workout that was very much needed. Then when I was waiting for my mom to be done walking, I went over to the sprinters group and talked while doing my core and holding my knee up for a minute thingy. Then when I was finishing up doing that Susannah came to the track so it was a  big group of East or Old East track runners their for the second day of January.

PM: When I got home from my practice at East High Track, I did my other core stuff including calf raises, arm swings and squats; I need to get back into those fast. Anywase, so tonight I went over to the Highland Track for a workout. So I started with a mile warm up and then the speed changes. I did 2 laps of jogging the curves and sprinting the straightaways then I did 2 laps of jogging the straightaways and sprinting the curves. Then I took a one minute break and started the speed. The workout was 5 300s at 58 pace because that would be roughly a 78 second 400 which is what I need to do at the first track meet of the season for a mile of course. So on the first one I got out what I thought was fast but I guess not really because I finished the first one at 59 seconds, then my times went like this; 59, 58, 58, 57. I guess it was I just needed a bit faster warm up to get to going the right pace. Sure, I admit after the fourth one, doing the last one was a bit iffy but I knew that the faster I run it the faster I can be done and it will pay off in the end. This is one of those workouts that one does a lot and a ton of effective stuff in that short amount of time. Then when I was done, I went over to the park and did a mile cooldown. Sub 5 minute mile here I come!!!!

Well its the first day back from Christmas Break and it sucks!!! So for track practice we started with a .6 warm up around the block then waiting for everyone to get back we stretched. Then we went over to the hallway and did high knees, butt kicks twice, skips, lunges, snaps, and tippy toes; all for 50 meters then stride for another 50 meters. We then did wall sits and step ups. Finishing the core work with 8 100 meter strides. We were all broken up into 4 lines. We had to race the other people in the other 3 lines. I was up against Chris, Natalie, and Tomy. On the last one, the entire team raced and only one sprinter beat everyone and it was Nate. Then the distance went on their run. By this point I was at a mile exactly. So the run was staying on 9th south, up until foothill, turning right on foothill and down around that block until past guardsman avenue to the Cemetery across from the University of Utah's football stadium. Then the Varsity went into the stadium and did 2 laps around that and then took 1300 east back to East High School. I ran with Bill, Chris, Tomy and Natalie until Foothill then I missed the light and they made it so I spent the rest of the run chasing them down. This was a good run for me because I really pushed it. This was the fastest I have ever run 6 miles and it didn't feel that hard until I was done and I felt really sick. But during the run I felt great. When I got back to the teacher parking lot, I had to add .4 of a mile to make it an even 7 so I did a lap around the grass and parking lot and did a small lap around the parking lot to get the even. Then we finally got our XC Hoodies XD. I did the run today at a 7:30 pace even.

When I came home I did my crunches, push ups, squats, and lunges.

Today I did not go to practice because I had an AP United States History study seminar I had to go to. So instead I came home and did core. I did crunches, push ups, squats, calf raises, and holding my knee up for a minute; I did each set 3 times. Then ending out the workout with 3 sets of those sideways planks for each side. I did those like this 1 minute for each side, 45 seconds for each side, then 30 seconds for each side; I will eventually work my way up to the full one minute for all three.

Today for practice we started by jogging up to the track then doing two laps around the track bringing us to about a mile. Then we stretched while we were waiting for everyone to be done. Then we did dynamic stretching of side lunges, ski things, stepping quad stretch, and two others. Then we did swinging our leg side to side and front and back to each leg 10 times. Then we broke into groups, the distance group went on a run. Since I had to leave, I could only stay until we got to guardsman then I had to keep going up Sunnyside Avenue till 1900 East because today I wanted to get at least some running in so I decided to run home. We did the first mile and a half pretty slow so it was harder to catch back up to the pace I should be running instead of just going straight into it. I averaged 7:37 but the last two miles were sub seven minute pace. Then when I got home I stretched, did crunches, push ups, and side planks; everything three times.

Today I went to practice at Sugarhouse park with Larry and Levi was their. So Levi and I did a mile warm up, then 3 laps of speed changes jogging the straightaways and sprinting the curves and 3 laps of speed changes logging the curves and sprinting the straightaways. Then we walked over to the park to do a timed lap around the park. I went first then Levi went one minute after me to chase me and so I would keep pushing. I did that lap in 9:05 which is OK but it is slower than what I did last time by two seconds. That could be because I have not done that in a long time and I am still getting my Speed back. Then Levi and I did a 2 mile cooldown. Overall it was nice to have Levi back to push me again because the last two weeks I know I could have gone faster if I had someone to push me. Then I came home and did my push ups and crunches.

Today, since my Garmin was dead I wanted to go on a long run that I knew the distance because the Garmin was dead. I decided to do the Cemetery loop that we do all of the time in the summer. But since I am starting at my house, it was about a mile farther. I felt like I was going at a 10 minute pace but in fact it only took me 55 minutes so I was doing a sub eight minute pace the whole time which is what I needed to do anywase. Then I came home and will do my core before I go to bed. During my run, my knee started hurting a bit so later tonight I will ice it and I got this really big and painful blister on my toe that hurts way bad.

Today I went to practice with Larry and Levi. For warm up, Levi and I did a lap around the park supposed to be between 10-11 minutes; our time was 10:30. Then we immediately went into our next lap that had to be faster and we hit 10 exactly so we did speed up. Then we stretched for a minute and got into the workout. The workout was 4 light poles, so one on and one off for four times; then we do 4 light poles on straight with one pole recovery after then the four poles that we did at the beginning. I didn't keep up with Levi for the ones but when we got to the 4 poles on I kept up with him. Then after we finished that lap we decided to do a lap cooldown. I felt good during this run except my ankle was bothering my a little bit and I am out of shape because on the On's I was tired until I caught my breath. When I got home I stretched a bit to help my legs.

Today, I couldn't go to Bills workout so I went over to Sugarhouse Park. I started with a lap warm up and was noticing my ankle was hurting almost immediately. It felt like someone had a thing of twine and they were strangling the front of my ankle. Anywase, for the workout we did track work. The workout was 5 200s on the turn though, so starting at 50 meters on the straight a way and then ending 50 meters on the other straightaway. On these, my times went 34, 33, 32, 32, and 32. I felt like I did a good workout that will benefit me at BYU this weekend because in indoor track, their is more curves so you need to work then faster, and curves are my weakness; thats where everybody seems to pass me. Then I did a cooldown until I got to six for the day. My ankle did not hurt as much going faster so thats probably why I went faster, and I was pumping my arms a ton, but on the recovery and the cooldown they hurt a ton!

Well today, my ankle again was hurting pretty bad and really consecutively throughout the entire run. Anyway, I went to practice with Bill today after school. We started with the lap around the block for warm up, then we did walking calf stretch, walking quad stretch, side lunges, and some other thing that I don't know the name of. Then we broke in to groups and did our own workouts, the Distance started with 3X1 minute step ups, those felt way easy and did not aggravate my ankle. 

The run today was running down along 1300 east until 1700 south, turning west until 11th east, going down to 2100 south, turning west and going until we got to fairmont park. I started out with the girls, but they were going a bit to slow for me so I sped up and started getting distance on them. I noticed that Sarah S was staying with me. We averaged a 7:25 pace going to the park, when we got their we did not see anyone so we stopped and stretched and gave my ankle a rest. Then everyone arrived like 10 minutes later, at the park we did 10 strides. My ankle was not hurting on these much, it was still noticeable but not nearly as severe as it was just going their. These strides averaged our pace to a 7:02. Going back to the school, since I only needed 6 for the day, I took 9th south all the way back and up the big hill at 9th and 9th. Bill said when I get to six though, I can stop and walk the way back, luckily I got to six right before the hill:) I ran the way back with Sam and Sarah S and we averaged a 7:08 pace for the whole run. Good Job Guys!! Then when I got home I iced my ankle for 20 minutes and currently have the ankle brace on it. 

Hopefully it feels better by Saturday for the BYU indoor track meet!!

Today, since we have the BYU indoor track meet I had a very easy workout. I started with a lap around Sugarhouse Park, then 8X1 lightposts on then finishing the lap as a cooldown. When I got home I took a very cold Ice bath and then I iced my ankle because all throughout the run tonight, my ankle killed!

Today is the first track meet of the Season!!!! So when I arrived up at BYU I checked in and stretched a bit. Then I went on a warm up of about .75 of a mile. I did that very slow because I ankle was hurting. When I was done, I had my dad massage my ankle which made it feel loads better. After that, I went over to the East groups stuff and did drill their while cheering for the girl milers. They called us over to the bull pen and seeded us. I was in heat 3 so I still had like 30 minutes till my race.

When the girls finished, I stretched while talking to RJ about his new college life and doing drills  withe the two Sarahs, that felt really good because it was nice to loosen up my legs. When they finally called my heat I went over to the starting line. At the line I did 4 strides at about 70 percent speed.

The LOUD gun goes off and were off. I started out where I needed to be. Not with the group that sprinted right from the beginning or the group behind them but the third group. So i was in about 6th place for the first lap. Our first lap was 57 seconds which is a little faster than what I needed to do to be sub 5 in the mile. Going around the second lap, 3 people passed me and we finished the lap with 2:20. I was feeling good until this point. At this time, it was not my ankle that started to hurt but I was just getting tired. So a few more people pass me and I became all of the sudden exhausted. Then some guy, who flipped me off when he was passing my decided to pass me and I stuck with him to his utter amazement. I was with him for the rest of the race. I did what I was supposed to do starting the fourth lap, using the curves as a speed change and just holding on on the straightaways. Going around the last lap, me and this jerky kid start picking up the pace and with about threefourths of the last lap to go, I start really picking up the pace and sprinting. This guy wont let me pass him so I just decide to go on the outside and sprint past him. I do so and hold him off for about 200 meters. On the final stretch we catch another kid and pass him, then me and the kid who flipped me off are neck and neck until the last like foot. Still now, I am not sure who was in front either me or him but it was way close. Overall I was OK with my race but I need to get my strength back to hold off on the third lap. I wanted my time to be 5:20-5:40 and I was sort of close to that but still no cigar..... Going around the final curve, the jerk who flipped me off was passing me on the outside so I am forced onto the line and I ended up stepping on the cone so I was disqualified.:(

Tonight, I went over to sugarhouse Park and it was totally iced over. With like an inch of ice over it. So my workout was easy because the whole place was iced over. I just did 2 laps around the park and then I went home. When I got home, I need more miles so I went 2 more miles. Nice easy slow pace to get a recovery run in.

AM: This morning, I decided I need more miles so I went on a mile out and back run. This was probably the coldest I have ever ran in, in my whole life! IT SUCKED!!!!

PM: Today after school, I went to Bills workout. We started by jogging down to Liberty Park and going to the drinking fountain. When we got there we found out the workout. It was 6 800s with a half mile recovery. We jogged over to the starting line and we lined up. I was in a group with Abigail and Kevin and we were supposed to do 3:05 pace. On the first one we did 3:05 then our times went like this 3:07, 3:09, 3, 3:05, and 3:05. I felt pretty good on the last ones but the first few I was really tired. Starting on the 2nd or 3rd ones I started doing them alone and I did the rest alone, my group stayed with me for like one of them. It was a rather lonely speed workout during the speed parts. Then as a cooldown, we jogged around the park telling some people to meet us by the drinking fountain then when we got to the fountain, we just went back up to the school. We went around a block before the big hill so we could walk up the hill. When I got home I noticed the TREES WERE PICKED UP!!!!!!!! Later, when I warm up a bit, I will do my core, crunches, push ups, side planks, and weighted arm swings.

Tonight, I went over to sugarhouse park and did some speed and hills. I met with Larry their and he sent me on a warm up. I went out 5 minutes and back, I got about a mile and a half in. Then he said, since my hips are really sore from yesterdays workout, I only had to do 4 500s but if they are all under 2 minutes I only had to do 3 (The reason for 2 minutes is 300 meters of it is all uphill). So for the first one I go and I get a 1:50. That did not seem that hard. It honostly felt like I was just jogging up the hill but that is a 5:47 mile. Then for the next one I did 1:49 so that one was faster. At this point I was really questioning my race on saturday because with these times and for most of it being uphill, I should have run faster of Saturday, and since I knew I could do the last one under 2 minutes I only had to do one more:) Then for the third one I started out at a pretty good pace, then going up the hill I slowed down so about half way up the hill I really pushed it and pumped the arms hard and I got a 1:49 so I was really consistent and got faster at all a sub 5:47 pace. Bummer about my race knowing I should have run faster, but rather this race than any race later in the season. Then for recovery for each I just did the 500 backwards. Then for a cooldown, since I needed about 2 miles, I did a little over a lap on the road and went home and watched American Idol.

Today, we started with a lap around the block for a warm up, Then we went into the hall, did high knees; stride, butt kicks; stride, quick skips; stride, and big skips; then stride. Then the whole team did 3x1 of wall sits and 3x1 of step ups. We then broke into our groups. The distance did a fartlek workout today. We started by jogging over to Sugarhouse park for a warm up. Chris and I broke away from the group because I had to leave early so I wanted to get all of the fartlek in before I went home. So when Chris and I get to the park, the team is really far behind us so we decide to just go for it. The workout was 5x4x3x2x1 with a recovery of 3x3x3x2x1. It was a good workout overall. Chris kept me pushing on the Ons and the Offs also. We almost made it a mile with the five minute one, we were about 150 meters away from a mile. I then had to break away from him and head back. I still had a 3x2x1 on the ons left so I just did them while I was going back to east along 1300 east. When I got to the two minutes and one minute, it was nice because I really got pushing and opening up on the stride and it was all uphill so it was killing the quads going up the hills. I got about 2 of the little blocks after 1300 south when I was done with the speed part of the fartlek, so I just used that less than a half mile as a cooldown at like a 7:30 pace because I needed to get back. I averaged todays run at 7:10

Today, I was going to do the Weber indoor Invitational. So when we were driving out there, this monstrous blizzard appears out of know where. It gets so bad that its flooding the freeway and we couldn't see the lane lines so we decide to turn around and go home.

So since I only needed 2 miles for the rest of the week, I just went from my house out and back 2 miles. Nice but very wet and cold run.

This morning, I decided to go for a run because I had nothing better to do. As soon as I got to 2100 South, no one had shoveled! So from then all the way around the outside of Sugarhouse Park I was running in snow. I hated this run because it was not tiring at all but running through the snow was hard to get good turnover so my pace really sucked! As soon as I turned onto 1900 East I was doing a 8:53 pace but when I finished out the run, I averaged a 8:40 pace. (I live about a fourth of a mile away from 2100 South) For my run I just went from my house, over to sugarhouse Park, on the outside of the park until I got to 2 miles then I turned around and went back the same way. I'll do my core, arm swings, side planks, crunches, lunges, squats and wall sits later after I watch Transformers:)

Today I met up with Levi at Sugarhouse Park. We did a lap warm up then we stretched. After stretching, we did a lap of alternating sprinting each pole, we went the opposite way than we did for the warm up. Then since Levi did a hard workout on saturday, we finished by doing a 30 stride up the hill and over. WE made it a little over 200 meters. Then we just finished out the lap for a cooldown;)

Today I went over to Bills workout. We started with 2 vertical laps around the school for a warm up. Then we did drills waiting for Bill to arrive. We did high knees, butt kicks, grape vine each way, then we did some more that I can not remember. Then breaking into our groups, the distance did leg lifts, step ups and wall sits. Then we went for our run. The farthest distance group went for a 12 mile run. Me, Natalie, Tomy, Chris, and Kevin all went up, did the shriners run, was going to stop at the drinking fountain but it was turned off. Then we went along 11th avenue over to city creek canyon. Thats when everyone got ahead of me. When I was leaving the canyon, I didn't see anyone and I was getting freaked out. A really creepy fact is, the Mormon Business building is exactly 6.66 miles away from East High....... Then alone, I just went up one block, over one block until I got back to east to keep up the pace I was going. Going up the hill by Judge the muscle right under my calf was really hurting,, it was weird.

Since we have a race tomorrow, I went over to sugarhosue park. I did a lap warm up and my lower calf was hurting again today. Then I did 4 light posts on then just finished out the lap for a cooldown. My calf hurt pretty bad during the strides. Then I stretched out my calf really well and took a 15 minute ice bath.

Today, since we have a race at the Oval I went straight home from school and did some homework. When I arrived at the race and checked in, I decided to go warm up because it was when the girls were starting. The boys were planned to run at 5:30 so I started to warm up at 5. They didnt call the boys over until 6! So during the girls mile I did a mile warm up, then I did drill and strides. After being seeded I was in heat 9 so I had like another hour until I raced. So about thirty minutes before my race again I did another mile warm up with Sarah S. We finally line up, they had the fastest people in my heat on the front line, 5:30-5:45 people and I was in that group so I was on the front line. I go out pretty good with the lead pack, being in fourth place for the first 400 meters with a time of 78 seconds first lap. Then the pack started to pull away with me so I was in first place in the chasing pack. We go around the 800 and my time was 2:48, at this point a group of 3 or 4 pass me but I stay with them. I pass two of the kids who passed me, when we were all going around at the 1200 mark, I was at 4:26! Which sucks because that means that my third lap was a 1:38!!! Then for the last lap I just focused on beating my time that I did at BYU, which I did. Then on the last 300 I just keep saying 300 to go, 200 to go, 100 to go! At the 200 I really start to kick and pass people. I think one kid passed me at the finish when I passed like 4 but I might have passed the other kid, I am not sure. It was close. Then since there was no chance for me to be going to Peer Court I did a mile cooldown and went to In N Out burger and got 2 Burgers!!

Today I went over to Sugarhosue Park and did a workout. I started with a lap around the park in the road, but when I was just finishing up the lap, Levi showed up and I did another lap with him. Then I was told the workout, it was another lightpost run but this one was harder. We did a ladder workout going 1-2-3-2-1-2-3-2-1-2-3-2-1-2-3-2-1 meaning one on one off, two on one off and three on one off (Lightposts) So about 100 meters per lightpost. For recovery of the lightposts, I did 1 lightpost. Levi and I made it just over 2 laps in the park so for a cooldown we just went out .25 and back to get to 6.5 for the day. I was thinking of going 8 miles but I need some for tomorrow. Overall a good workout that was effective that will benefit me on that STUPID Third lap in the mile.

Today I just went on a short run to finish out the mileage for the week. I started at my house, went towards East High until I got to 1.25 which was about 8th south then I turned around and came back the same way. Easy run before a dance. Then I came home and got ready for Junior Prom with Natalie Shields! Which I had a blast at!!!!!!!!!!

Today met up with Larry at Sugarhouse Park and did a workout. I started with a lap warm up, then another lap of alternating lightposts. Then I did the actual workout. It was 2 500s uphill. My times were 1:46 for both of them. I started out really conservatively and then I died up the hill but I did do faster than I did last time. For a recovery from these, I just did a 500 back to the starting line. Then I just did a lap cooldown and called it a day, until I got home when I stretched and slaved away at doing APUSH

Today I went to Bills workout. We started with a lap around the school's block for a warm up then we went into the halls for drills. They went high knees twice, butt kicks twice, lunges twice, toes and heels. Then we went into the commons and did 3x1 of step ups. We then broke into our groups. The distance was going on a long run. I was only planning on going ten today. So I started out with Tomy, Natalie, Chris and Bill but I broke away from them at guardsman avenue and went on my own run. Right after guardsman ave, I had to go to the bathroom really bad so I ran down to the Seven Eleven on 1300 East and went to the bath room and then ran back up to the University of Utah football stadium. Then I took the shriners run until I got to 4.75 which was about a half mile onto 11th avenue then I turned around and went back the same way. I was going to turn at 5 but including the warm up, I would be at ten for the day. Then waiting for my mom to pick me up, I stretched with Dominique.

Today I went over to sugarhouse park and met up with Larry for a workout. I started with a half of a lap warm up then I finished out the lap with speed changes. Then I immediately went into doing the speed and hills. I only had to do one today but it was longer. I did 600 meter long uphill sprint to represent the third lap in the mile. I did this all uphill sprint in 2:02 which is 16 seconds slower than what I did the 2 500's on monday which is really good. I know I can do better and PR in the mile this weekend. Then for a cooldown I went on a out and back run up 2100 South until I got to 4.25 then I turned around and came back the same way to even out at 6.5 for the day. I did the cooldown run thing slow to get rid of the lactic acid build up in my legs. Then Tonight I am going to stretch and study AP Biology because the new sub is such a crazy not good teacher!

Today went to Bills workout. Started with 2 vertical lap warm up, then stretching circle, drills and then arm swings. We then broke into our groups and we went for our run. The distance ran down to Fairmont park then at the park did 6 strides, then we jogged back as a group. When we got to 9th and 9th we weaved in and out of streets until we got to 6 miles. Overall easy peasy lemon squezy stuff before the race tomorrow and saturday.

Today was the UHSTCA indoor track Part 1. So when I arrived at the oval, the line for registration was freaking out the door! So after my mom and I waited in that line for ever, Tomy met up with us at the front because the people who were checking us in ran out of change so they were calling people up with one dollar bills or fives or smaller than 20's. So after that big fiasco I didn't have that much time so I ran over to the stuff, changed my shoes and went immediately on my warm up. I went down stairs in the oval and did about a half mile just jogging around. Then they seeded us and I was in heat 3 with Dakota. So they call us onto the track but they still had 2 heats till we went so Dakota and I changed our shoes, well I did becuase Dakotas spikes were not to be found. So we did strides, drills and stretching; pretty much anything to stay warmed up and waste time until we raced.

They finally call us to the starting line and they lined us up according to our seeded time. So of course Dakota and I are put in the back. The gun goes off and since there is a lot of people to pass to get to the front, we were boxed in. Going around the curve we worked together to pass people and try to stay on the inside..... That didn't work. So we go around the 400 at 78 seconds. That did not seem that slow to me but going much faster I would have for sure died later in the race. Dakota and I start passing a few people and working our way up. Going around the 800 we hit 2:45 which is exactly what my first lap time was so I was staying really consistent. Then the dreaded third lap starts. I remember its just like the hills and to push through it. I picked up the pace and start to gap on Dakota. I didn't hear what the 1200 time was but we slowed down a little but not to bad. I think the lap was 84 seconds because our last lap was 77 seconds as well. Then on the last lap we just go all out and start to really pass people. With about 200 meters to go, Dakota passes me but going around the curve I was on the outside of him trying to pass him and I eventually did just after the curve. Then I just kicked it in because I saw the clock and I knew I could have broken 5:30 if we weren't boxed in on the 3rd lap! Then when I saw my time I was pretty pleased.

I finished the day; after feeling better because I felt pretty sick after my race, I finished the day off by going on a half mile cooldown while waiting for Chris and Tomy's race to start. Then I go and cheer for them and stretch because tomorrow I have the 800..... YIPEE!!!

Today was the second day of the UHSTCA Indoor track meet. So when I arrived at the oval, my team was just about to go and warm up so I quickly go and change my shoes and join them across the ice. We did 4 sets of all of the drills then we started the warm up. We did about 3 laps around the ice until the hockey people kicked us off because we were interfering with something. So we went downstairs and ran for 6 minutes just going around the place and we called it a mile. Then the girls got seeded so we went and got our spikes ready. They call they boys over to the bull pen so I got seeded in the first heat because Bill put my time as a 2:45 which is slow. 

When we went to go sit down to get our numbers, they told me my spikes were to long, so I told them that I would change them when we walked over their. So I asked the guy who shot the gun if my spikes were to long and he said no and he didn't care. So we line up and i was in seed 3 which is good because I new I could get a good time if I got out good but the guy who was seeded 1st was not there so I really was seeded 2nd. The gun goes off and we go. The guy who was seeded in front of me went out sprinting and I was thinking of going out with him but I knew he would die. Going around the first 400 I took the lead at 73 seconds. Then a big group of about 10 come up to me and we are all a big group going around the final curve to the final stretch. 5 of the guys in that group did outkick me but I did out kick a lot of them. When I saw my time I was pretty happy because my goal was to break 2:30 and I was only 2 seconds off of that. Then when I was done I cooled down by stretching and walking around the Nike outlet store because they had a really good sale on running stuff for Simplot:)

Tonight I decided to go over to sugarhouse park. I met up with Larry there. For a warm up we started with jogging for 50 meters, then sprinting, then with no arms for 100 meters, then for 50 meters having one arm behind our back then the other arm for the other 50 meters. Then the workout was 3 200s at a nice easy stride pace. I did my 200s at 40 pace, again my legs felt fine but my lungs hurt really bad. We did a 200 recovery after each. Then for a cooldown I  just finished out the lap after the third 200.

Today we started with 2 vertical laps then dynamic stretching then breaking into our groups. The distance group jogged up to the track then from the track ran up to foothill down past the VA and along guardsman for a warm up. Then at the track we did one mile of speed changes then changed shoes. For the workout it was 2 sets of 4 300s with jogging 100 recovery. I was in a group with Natalie, Bill and Nate. Our time was 55 seconds for each. On the first one Natalie and I both forgot to hit lap on our Garmins so I did about 50 meters into it. Our first one on my watch said 45 seconds so im assuming we were on pace. At this point I was only coughing a little bit and I was feeling good. On the second one our time was 53 so we were still good. I was really tired after this one, well not my legs but my lungs are what really hurt. Then I had to go because I had to go to peer court. So I could only get in 2 of the 8:( which is a really bad thing actually because Simplot is in less than a week and I am tired after 2 300s! I need to get my lungs back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any suggestions?!?!?!?!?

Today I went over to Sugarhouse park and met up with Larry and Levi. Levi brought a friend tonight there was me, Larry, Levi, and Kevin. So we all did a lap warm up then we stretched. Then Levi and Kevin and I did a lap of one on one off of lightposts just to loosen up our legs then we did a lap cooldown. My lungs really hurt after this run but I did not cough as much and I could sort of breath better so I am getting better!

This morning I went over to Sugarhouse park to meet up with Larry, Levi and Kevin but another guy came! His name is Danny and he is a 4:20 miler so he is good, He is Larry's friend when Larry was an Elite runner. So Levi, Kevin and I did a big lap around the park because Danny and Larry were not there yet. Then we met up the Danny and Larry and started the workout. It was a strength workout for me for Simplot this week. We did 1x1x2x1x3x1x4x1x3x1x2x1x1x1 with the first one being the time we were on then off then on, so on. We did this workout just under one lap around the park so we were thinking just to take the rest of the park as a cooldown...... That didn't happen! My lungs were really hurting and it was really hard to keep up the Danny! Then when we got back to the cars, Danny decides to talk everybody into a 5 mile cooldown so I would be 5.5 miles over my mileage for the week! But I decide to go. We run up to 3300 south, over to I think Imperial street, down to 2700 south, up to 1800 East taking 1800 east back to the park. When we get about halfway down imperial street I decide to pull a 30 second stride with me and since we all need to stay as a group everyone has to go with me. I push it and make it just over 200 meters so I am getting my speed back! Kevin couldn't stay up with us but Danny and Levi did stay up with us. When we got back to the cars, I about passed out because that was the longest run I have done in about a week and a half!

Today I met up with Larry at the Highland park because I can't go tomorrow. I did a mile warm up on the track then a mile of J's. Doing the J's I felt really slow and sore, I could not get my legs to push and run fast. It was really weird. Then we stretched for a minute and the workout was 100's of running the curve because at Simplot you run a lot of curves. So I started in lane 5 then on everyone came in one lane. My times were 16, 16, 16, 16 each one of mine got faster but in the millisecond range. Then we went home.

Today since I can't go to practice I did a quick run. I did a half mile warm up on 1900 east, then I did 5 .1 of a mile long strides with 30 second break then I did a half mile cooldown running home. Later I stretched a ton while I was studying biology. After I took a 15 minute VERY cold ice bath.

Today when we arrived at Simplot I did a lap on the track while my mom was waiting in line to get my packet. I did the lap on the track to get used to the track again. Then we went over to the hotel and relaxed before we went out to dinner. 

When we arrived at the stadium again, my team was there so we went over their and cheered for Chris and Natalie running the 3200. Then started the never ending wait for the boys heat 16 of the 1600. At about heat 8 I went on a 2 mile warm up with Bill, Tomy, Natalie, Abigail, Sarah and Sara, Dakota, and Nate. Since Dakota was in my heat we only went 2 miles because then we had to go check in at the bull pin. While waiting for my heat to be called down, I did strides, drills, and stretched.

The officials lined us all up, I was seeded 7th and Dakota was seeded 9th. So we go on the track and do some more strides and drills while waiting for the heat in front of us to go. So we line up and the gun goes off. I get out pretty fast, in the middle of the pack maybe more towards the front. From my first step I was exhausted! So we go around the first lap at 39 seconds which is what I needed to be at. For the first 400 we were all still a group and we came in at 78. The 600 I didn't see but the 800 was a 2:36ish and we again were all still a pack. This is when Dakota passed me. As soon as Dakota passed me I mentally gave up. I didn't see the next few laps times but all I could tell was I was getting farther and farther away from my goal time and of my goal to beat Dakota. So going around the final lap I try to kick it in but I bet I was going faster on my first lap than I was on my last lap. My final time was a very disappointing 5:40 or 5:42. I could of have a really good race but I mentally gave up and decided not to push. At the end of my race I was totally wiped though. I could barely walk across the field back to get my stuff. Then I did a very slow and very embarrassing/disappointing mile cooldown around Holt arena while cheering on the other milers. GREAT JOB NATALIE FOR TAKING SIMPLOT FOR THE WIN!!!!!

AM: Woke up in the morning and since we didn't have school today, I decided to go for a shakeout run after Simplot. I jogged over to Sugarhouse Park and did a lap around the park alternating the light posts of one on one off. Then I just jogged home for a cooldown. I stretched and did my core after.

PM: Tonight I went over to Sugarhouse park again for a workout with Larry. I did a lap warm up then a lap of 2x1 of lightposts. Then the real workout started. I didn't notice how out of shape I was until this workout. I did the 600 uphill thingy again but I had to go faster. I started out good, my first 400 was a 61 which is a PR but then I hit the hill and about halfway up the hill I had to stop and puke and barely could jog back to the finish line for the last 200 meters, I did my time for that one in 2:26. Larry was happy because it was my first time I had puked in a workout:) So then since my time had sucked really really really bad, he had me do it again. I jogged back to the start and I went out again. Again my first 400 was a 61 but then I hit the hill and almost had to stop and puke, I was able to hold it in and never did puke but I was coughing everywhere and could barely jog that last 200. My time for this one was 2:20 which is a bit faster but still really really really sucks. Then for a cooldown, I just jogged back to my car and called it a day. I figured out what made me puke though; it was the root beer that I had been drinking all day; until 5:30 when I met up with Larry at 6:)

Today I went to Bills workout and wore my mizunos because my Nike's are hurting my ankle again, or its something serious....... Anywase, I went with the farthest distance group today. We ran over to Sugarhouse park, did the sort of outside loop by going by the freeway until17th then we turned right and did the cemetery run. I went out 4 and back the same way because I need my distance back and it was really tough to keep up with everybody. I was in a group for about 3.5 miles with Abigail, Kiley, Tomy, Natalie, Chris, Sara, and Bill. At the 4 I decided to turn around and came back the same way. It was weird, when I was running back along 13th east I didn't see Dakota or anybody and when I got back to the school Dakota and them were not back even though they went shorter. It was weird.

 

Well, the guilt caught up to me and I had to do the next 2 miles to get to 10 for the day otherwise I would feel way to guilty. So before I ate dinner, I ran down to the drinking fountain at Sugarhouse park and back to my house. I remembered measuring it during the summer so I knew it was a about a mile. I came home and stretched while watching TV and did my core before bed.

Today I went over to Sugarhouse park and did a speed workout. I started with a lap warm up and then I stretched. I did 2 100 progressive strides to open up the legs and stride out. Then we walked over to the 400 hill. The workout was 4 400s with a 400 recovery. I really wanted to average at a 5:20 mile so I needed to do 80 seconds for each. My first time was 80 seconds and I was not that tired so I wished I pushed harder on that one. I jogged back down to the start and started again. My times went as followed: 80, 81, 84 so I did a 5:25 mile, just a bit slow than I wanted but the track is not uphill, it is flat so I know I can run the 5:20 on the flat track by the start of out door season. Then I just did a 600 meter cooldown and went home and stretched while watching American Idol.

Today, I went to Bills workout. We did the normal vertical lap warm up. Then we did step ups, 3 sets of circuits, wall sits and stretched. Then we went on a run. I was told to go for an hour or so.  I went from the teacher parking lot, out turning left of 1300 east, going up on 8th south to guardsman and did the shriners run from there. That brought me to six when I got back to the school. Then I decided to stop at the track because I was at like 40 minutes at this point so I did a mile at the track and I saw Bill there, from the track I did .3 of a mile at the teacher parking lot with Kylie to finish out her run with her. So I did almost a mile more than 7 but the extra I did is evening out the mileage for whatever I needed throughout the week. I shouldve just gone the 8 with the fast group because we went the same pace and I got back about 8 minutes before everybody else. Next time I will go with them. My distance and speed is coming back.

Tonight I met Kevin, Levi and Larry at Sugarhouse park. So Kevin, Levi and I did a 2.75 mile warm up around the park on the outside then running to the bathroom because they are open now. So then we did a timed 600 going up the hill. I was a bit nervous because when I did this on Monday, my times sucked because I had to stop and puke. This time, I just blocked that out of my mind and ran it. I started out with Kevin and Levi, but Levi broke away from us at about 200 meters so Kevin and I pushed hard up and over the hill and if there was 100 more meters we would have caught Levi because I think he died going up the hill. But then us three went on a lap cool down and stretched after. Did my core when I got home.

Today since I slept in and missed practice I had to go on my own run. I wanted to do a speed workout at Highlands track, but there was a really creepy guy doing like a drug deal there and like steeling metal so I decided not to stay. I did an outside lap around the park, then went in the park till I got to 4. I went back to the track, sprinted two laps because they were still there and I didn't want to stay..... IT WAS WAY SCARY!!!! Then I ran home and went up to Clayton Middle School and ran back to my house. It was a good but very scary run today to finish out my mileage for the week. Last week I did 15 miles and this week I did 40, hopefully that is not too bad on my legs later in the game........

Today since we had one of the semi final rounds for basketball, I couldn't go to Bills workout or go meet up with Levi; so I decided to do my own workout. I did about a 3 mile warm up, then went over to the gym to do some HEAVY quad weights, hamstring weights, and toe raises things. I did each set 3 times and ended with a 1.5 mile cooldown and going to Judge Memorial High Schools State Hockey Game.....

Today was the official first day of outdoor track. So we met up in the commons, got all of the paper work, did the talky thing and did the vertical lap warm up then stretching and drills. So distance was supposed to go out to the oval today for a speed workout, but only a select few got to go. I asked bill what I should do and he said "You are not fit enough, you do not come enough, you come one day and are not there the next, its hard to coach you" So after Bill B-worded me out, I decided to not go because I could not handle him dissing on me all the time again. Well Bill, I cant come to practice everyday because I have AP Class stuff I need to do right after school because school comes first then running, Im sorry if that doesn't work for you but its the best I can do at the moment to try to make everybody happy................. So I went on my own run with Dominique, Maggie and Caden. We decided to do the flagpole run. I go along 13th east to the Pie Pizzeria and then up to the flag. Back down the same way along 13th east over to Westminster College to that flagpole. Caden and I ended up doing the whole workout while everyone else turned around before westminster. I went out another mile and back to do a few more miles. I sure am tired of how people are treated on that track team if you are not one of the selected proteges......

its okay patrick. im sure bill's just trying to get you to do what is best and what will help you achieve your goals. try to understand his side of the story before you assume things. he wants you to come to practices. he's actually right. it must be hard to coach someone who hardly ever comes. you wouldn't know what they're capable of and you can't give them the times they should be shooting for. im not saying you should miss your ap stuff, but when you don't have them come to practice. do the same workouts as us on your own. it will only help you. if you truly have no desire to workout with us, then why are you doing track? don't be mad at me im sure you're in a tough situation. just knw that there is always truth and reason to what he says. remember that.

As a high school coach for sixteen years I can tell you that there are plenty of kids who take lots of AP classes and still make it to practice everyday. You canplease keep your language cleanaround with the sport to have something to put on a college application or you can pursue excellence.The interest your coach shows in you will be commensurate with the interest you show in the sport. But don't kid yourself, there are no shortcuts in running. There are certain basic principles that ALWAYS apply to EVERYONE. Either you have time to run or you don't.

First of all, Bill didn't tell you you aren't fit enough to go to the oval. He said he doesn't know whether you should go to the oval because he doesn't know where you are at, and he is 100% right. Since you don't train consistently with him, how is he supposed to know what you can handle? Secondly, you aren't the only one on the team with AP classes, nor are you the one with the most or hardest. I know first hand that running sometimes clashes with school, and I agree that school always comes first, but if you are truly committed, then you do the workout on your own. Bill even cares enough that when people have to miss a hard workout, he offers to stay after practice and help them complete the workout, when he has the time of course. Lastly and most importantly, no one on the team is treating you badly or differently, athlete or coach. Patrick, you can choose how the rest of your season will play out. If you are tired of the way it has unfolded so far, then maybe it's time for a change.

Today I couldn't go to track practice because I had a APUSH Study seminar after school (not that anyone noticed I wasn't at practice or anyone missed me being there) so I did my own workout again. I jogged over to sugarhouse park did a lap, and it started to blizzard so I ran home, that brought me to 3 miles, then I went over to the gym and I did 3.5 miles on the treadmill. I did my core and leg weights again when I got home.

After parent teacher conferences which went great by the way, I had peer court so I had to do a really fast run. From my house, over to Sugarhouse park and did a lap around the park then I ran home. I averaged a 6:40 pace so I was going pretty fast.

Today since we didn't have school, I went over to Sugarhouse park and did a workout with Levi and Larry. We started with a lap warm up but then Levi and I did an extra half mile with Larry with part of his workout. Then Levi and I's workout was one lap of 2x1 light posts, but since going downhill hurt Levi's feet really bad, we went the longway around the park, going around the pond, we went into the ally thingy and then went back the same way so we didn't have to go down the big hill. That was actually 2 miles instead of 1.5 so then  we did a lap cooldown. When I got home I did my weights and core and was done. Well with running, back to loads of homework.

This morning I met up with Larry and Levi at Sugarhouse park. Levi and I did a 5 mile warm up of running over to 33rd south and back. Then we did the speed. We started with a 200 with 100 recovery, then 400 with100 recovery then 800 with 200 recovery then 400 with 100 recovery then another 200 with 100 recovery then we did a 100 and a lap cooldown. I don't know my times but for the 800 I know it was 2:39 but for the rest I am clueless. Then Levi and I did a lap cooldown and called it a day. I still need to go five miles though...... When I got home I did my core and started studying.

Today I went to Bills workout and it was a tempo run. So we met up at the track and did a half mile warm up, stretching circle then a half mile of drills. The distance jogged down to Liberty park and went the short way to the drinking fountain then over to the starting line. I was in a group of 6:30-6:40 per mile for 6 miles! CRAZY! So I was with Kiley and Sarah S. We started out fast and did like a 6:22ish first mile, then we were consistent. Sarah fell off just after mile one. Good job Sarah for pushing through it though! Then around mile 4, kiley had always been a little bit ahead of me but thats when I totally died. I averaged a 7 minute mile over everything when I was on pace at mile 4. Then we jogged around the park a bit then saw COOL CARLOS! Natalie got her first kiss from an old homeless man!!!!!!!!YAY NATALIE! Then we jogged around till I got to 12 then I stopped while everyone else did 12.5. HARD and EXHAUSTING workout! It was the farthest I had ever run in my life at one time.

Today, Since the juniors at East were taking the ACT everyone else had no school today, unfortunately I took the ACT. So after that, we had a workout out at the oval. We started with a mile warm up, stretching, another mile warm up then a mile of speed changes and a recovery lap. The workout was 2 800s and then 10 300s! I only had to do 5 300s because I was hitting eight today not ten. So for the 800s I was with Dakota inbetween Sarah and Abigail. For the first on we did 2:53 which I feel like is way slow for me! Then we did a lap recovery then another one. This one I let Sarah lead for a bit but on the last turn, she started to slow down a bit so I passed her and I got 2:56 which is way slow! Oh well.......... Then we did another lap recovery and started the 300s. My goal time was 60 seconds which again I feel like is to slow but what do I know haha. I was in a group with Bill, Abigail, and Kiley. For the first one Bill lead, and we did 59, then Kylie lead and we got 59, then Abigail lead and again we got 59. Then I lead and we got 56 haha oops. Then Bill lead again and Bill and I got 57 because we were battling down the final stretch. I was victorious haha but the girls were smart and held back because they got 59 on all of them. Then I did a lap recovery and for the recovery of the 300s we just jogged over to the start. Then I did 3 miles on the bike for cooldown and called it a day. Well after learning how to stretch safely! Tomorrow I will do weights and core.

Today we did a relay contest with the whole team. So we did the usual half mile warm up, then stretching circle then drills. Then we broke into teams. My team consisted of Dakota, Abdi I thiink is his name then another kid who I don't know. Sp the relays were 4x400, 4x200 and another 4x200. For the 400 I did it in 64 seconds, then for the 200 I did it in 33 seconds then for the last 200 I did it in 29 seconds. My team won all of these events except the last 4x200, we dominated!

Today at practice we had another speed workout. We started with a half mile warm up, stretching, drills then another mile warm up and a mile speed changes. Then the workout was 800x600x400x300x200x400x400x300x200x100. I was in a group with Kiley, Abigail and Dakota. Our times consisted of 2:48, 2:07, 75, 50, 33, 92, 80, 54, 30, 12. I don't know why the 600 was so slow and the second and third 400s were slow, but they were ridiculously slow. Anywase after I did a 2.5 mile cooldown to get to 8 for the day then I stretched. Tonight I will try to take a 15 minute ice bath and do my core and hamstring weights later.

Today I called Kevin and Levi to pace me in a timed mile over at the Highland High School track. So we started with a half mile warm up then a half mile of speed changes. We then stretched and I put on my spikes and did some strides. Kevin and Levi both thought I wanted them to pace me at a 5:30 pace not at 5:10 pace. So Levi would do the first two laps with me, then Kevin would do the third lap with me and Levi would finish me off with the last lap. So Levi and I line up and we go, I was not allowed to use my watch and I started with the foot that I am not used to starting with, it was weird. So for our first lap Kevin yelled we went through at 76 seconds and our 800 was 2:50 which is way to slow. So Kevin picked it up with me and got me back on track. Then Levi brought me in at 5:30 exactly. So I did negative split but I was way disappointed with my time because I wanted a 5:10 not a 5:30. Then I did a 5 mile cooldown running over to 33rd south and back. When I got home, I did my core.

Today I decided to go for a little run because I have to do 10 more miles than last week this week. So I went from my house, on 1900 east over to Sunnyside, up to foothill then along that block with the VA hospital then across on guardsman, back up to 1900 east. I was only going to go 4 miles but I was at 4 when I was starting along 1900 east so I decided to stop at 5 but then I was at 1700 south at 5 miles so I went to 6. I made it to 2100 south before I had to turn around and then I just ran home. When I got home I did my crunches, side planks, and the multiple push ups.  I took it very easy today, a very respectable 7:54 pace. I'm using the recovery runs as a recovery run haha. Then I stretched for a while as I was reading AP Biology, then I took a 15 minute ice bath.

AM: Since today is a late start, I decided to go for a little run. I went over to sugarhouse park and did a lap and came home.

So the workout was the shriners run, along 11th avenue, through city creek canyon and then back on west temple and back up on 1300 east. I went with Kiley and Abigail for most of it but then about halfway up south temple, I died and they got way ahead of me like 2 blocks. Then when I was crossing across onto 1300 east, I stopped because I was at 10 for the day and I didn't want to go more than that. So I had to walk that little over a mile making it so I was so late coming back.

AM: This morning, since I stopped the run early yesterday, I decided to go for another run. I went over to sugarhouse park and did a lap and came back. Well of course I had my dad drive next to me because there are creepers in the park when it is dark outside.

PM: Today was supposed to be the time trial but since the wind way really bad we decided to bump it tomorrow, but I can't go because its Finals for APUSH march madness:( Anywase so for workout, we did the usual half mile warm up, stretching circle in the middle of the field then we jogged over to the soccer field for drills. We did high knees up the hill, skips up the hill, then sprinted up the hill. We did that three times. Then we jogged over to the football field, we did 5 times of jumping over these one foot tall fences, then we did 5 times of jumping over these blocks that got higher each time. After each time we jumped, we sprinted about 20 meters, then we jogged back over to the start. Then we were done so Dominique and I while I was waiting for my mom decided to do a mile with a few speed changes in there to try out her new spikes. Easy but hard workout at the same time. Fun and very effective! After the jumping things, we did planks and wall sits. 

PS: My 9 blisters HURT SO BAD! To the point that I can barely walk.............

AM: Before school ran over to sugarhouse park and did a lap and came back.

PM: Since today was APUSH Seminar March Madness Finals and I couldn't go to practice; By the way my team got second place for 125 extra credit points!. I decided to do my own workout. I ran over to highland high schools track and met Levi and Ricky to do a workout. Today we were pacing levi in an 800. So We did a mile warm up, a mile of J's then a recovery lap and stretched. Ricky and I started with 2 200s at 35 pace, we hit them at 33 and 35 because the first one was faster than expected. Then we did a 400 at 70 pace, at this point we were pacing Levi in the 800, I did the first lap and Ricky did the second lap. So for the first lap I was supposed to bring Levi through at 70 and I hit 69 so right on. Then Ricky was just supposed to stay with Levi. Levi did a 67 for that lap so he did a 2:16 which is a PR for him. He had a good workout. Then We did another 200 and we hit 31 and then a mile cooldown bare feet because my blisters are killing me!

Today since we have a race tomorrow we did an easy workout. We started with a half mile warm up which I did barefoot because my shoes hurt my blisters. Then we did stretching, drills and we then walked over to the football field and did 10 60 meter strides. After those we got our uniform part 1 and went for a run. Since I only needed 8 for the day, I went on a run with Chester, Dakota, Sam  and Caden. We went up to foothill, over to the VA Hospital, down to 1300 east and back up to the track. When we got there, Sams mom was already there making us all snow cones:) So we quickly did a mile of speed changes then a grass lap for a cooldown. Then after eating my snow cones I did another mile cooldown to get to 8 for the day. It was a good workout before a race and the snow cones really did hit the spot!

Today was the first outdoor track meet of the season. So when I get to the track, Dakota said we had to measure out and level the shotput pit for the throwers..... Great. So after doing that, I go and change and go to the stretching circle. After doing the stretching circle. Me and Sarah S. decide to go on a warm up while the hurdlers are going on. I do 2 laps with her, then go into my speed changes and I do 2 laps of speed changes. Then I grab my spikes, and go to the starting line. I get to the starting line when they were starting the 100 meter dash so I have time to do drills. I do some drills then do another 2 laps warm up with Caden and Scott. After that, I stretch and do drill and strides with the team. They finally call us up to the line and I was in spot 6. We all line up, the gun goes off and were off.

So I felt like I went out fast but I didn't think I went out as fast as I did, My first 400 was 66 which is way fast for the first lap. So going around the turn of the second lap I was in 2nd place, Scott comes up to me and I stay with him for the rest of that lap and we go through the 800 at 2:32ish. That is when I fell apart. I did this first half way to fast so I couldn't do a negative split. I try to hang on that third lap, in which time Natalie passed me along the home stretch and Dakota was coming up on me. I went through the 1200 at 4 flat. So then my arms were totally exhausted at this point and they are all curled up to my body so I decide to drop them down, for a few meters and give them a rest. With 200 meters to go, Dakota catches up to me and pulls away from me by about 12-15 meters and then we were going the same pace so I couldn't pass him again. Then at the line a judge kid passes me right then. But I didn't care because I looked at my watch and I did a 4 second PR and 9 seconds faster than last Saturday. I PR'd today even with my horrible race and how it played out. I was happy with my time but not with my place or with how I got my time.

Then for a cooldown I jogged around for 2.5 miles then I timed the rest of the meet. Timing is so stressful!!!!

Today I met up with Levi to do a pace him for a 2 mile time trial. We started with a mile warm up, stretched and strides. I was going to join him after his first 800 and do everyother 300 with him. So For the 3 300s I did with him I did at 59, 59, 60 so they were right on pace for an 80 second lap. Then I jogged the 100 to start again. Then on his last lap I just decided to do his last 200 with him to kick it in and we did it in 35. Then I had a 3 mile cooldown I needed to do so we went out and did a big lap around the park then we kept going inside the park till .37 then we turned around and came back. The wind was horrible today because it just kept following us no matter what direction we were running.

Today I couldn't go to the meet because I had to go to APUSH becuase its better to miss the meets at the beginning of the season than later in the season so I got 2 seminars done. So I did a 1.5 mile warm up, 4 100 strides with jogging 100 then workout was 300, 600, and 200. My times went 45, 1:42, and 32. I ran with a 4:04 miler and he paced me at 60 second 400s and I was pretty good except for the 600 when I fell off pace for a little bit. Then a mile cooldown. Hopefully Im going to the Pineview invite this weekend.

We did a little speed then a bit of stuff weird stuff that felt really slow to me. Anywase the workout was half mile with team, then drills and stretching then a mile of speed changes. The workout was 3 1200s at 2 mile pace then 6 200s at mile pace. My times went 4:30, 4:40, and 4:50 which all suck but I have never done the 2 mile and don't plan on doing it. Anywase so my 200s all got faster because I really push the shorter stuff haha, so they went 36, 36, 35, 34, 33, 32. Then I did a mile and a half cooldown. We did a lap inbetween each 1200 to be at a mile after each set. The workout was not as hard as I thought it would be.

Today was a tri meet at East but first we had team pictures. So I sprint up there to take the pictures but the meet wasn't set up so everyone had to set it up at 2:50 when the pictures were supposed to be at 2:45 so I had to leave to go to the APUSH seminar so I couldn't be in the track picture:( again......... So I raced the mile so I did a half mile warm up because I arrived late due to the seminar then I did a half mile of speed changes. I did strides and drills while waiting at the starting line. I was seeded 12th and 4th from east. So the gun goes off and I didn't get out as fast as last time because I thought I could hold on if I didn't get out faster... That was a dumb idea because I died the same amount but still started slower so I got a slower time. My first 400 was 74 and each went like this, 2:40, 4:12 then 5:32 which sucks. So Caden passed me on lap 2 then stayed about 10 meters ahead of me until the last lap when Abigail passed me so I outkicked her and out kicked Caden so I had a good finish. But I didn't race well because I wasn't even tired after that. Then I did a mile and a half of jogging around, then another half mile of speed changes and strides and drills for the 800 because of my horrible mile. My 800 was even worse, I did my first 400 at 72 then my final time was 2:38 which is 2 seconds faster than my mile time. WHICH SUCKS!! Then I did a half mile cooldown in shame.

Today when arriving at the race, checking in and getting seeded; I was in heat 6 with Dakota and Caden. I was seeded 4th overall. So I did about a mile warm up with Caden, ran over to the bathroom and then did a mile of speed changes with Caden on the street. We still had 2 heats till they called us so I did strides and drills, then I grabbed my spikes and went to the starting line to do more strides. We all lined up, the gun went off and we had a false start. We line up again and Caden stepped over the line so we had to restart. So we lined up for a third time we we were off.

I got out pretty good, I got out in fourth place which is where I needed to be at that time. So we go through the 400 at 74 which is good because I was aiming for a 5:15. So after the curve Dakota was about 5 meters ahead of me so Caden goes and passses me and gets up to Dakota so I tried to match him but I couldn't. We went through the 800 at 2:40 so if I was going to get my goal I would need to negative split. So anywase I decide to push the third lap; or what I thought was pushing it but in fact I got slower! My 1200 was 4:17 or 4:18, somewhere around there. Im going along the far end of the straightaway and letting the wind push me and I was gaining some ground on Dakota and Caden, not enough to catch them but some. But at the 200 from there on it was all against the wind. I pushed my hardest against that STUPID wind to get through it but about 3 or 4 guys passed me in the final kick which has never happened before because I usually have a good kick.

I don't know what happened today, usually when someone passes me to the extent that Caden did, I try to match them so they don't get to far ahead of me. I didn't do that today. But I am not making excuses even though the wind was horrible today along the stretch to the finish line. Today was not my day at all, I went into this race totally expecting to PR so instead I ran 20 seconds slower than I did last year at this meet. I am getting slower and I don't know why!

Then Caden and I went on a mile and a half cooldown; well it was 15 minutes so were assuming it was a mile and a half. When we were done with the horrible cooldown and STUPID RACE! We went to Iceberg and pigged out! Then we got totally sunburned and fried!! Like its sad how burned we are. Other than the total negative race I had, today was a good day..............

This morning we had Track Practice on the First day of SPRING BREAK!! So when I got to the track, not many people were there. As a team we did a 2 mile warm up then a mile of speed changes. By the end I was in a group with Tomy, Natalie, Scott, Chris and Abigail. Then we heard the workout. It was 400x800x400 2 sets. We were supposed to hit out best mile pace then for the 800 half of our best mile pace then minus five seconds. Since mine is a 5:25, that felt to slow for me so I decided to do 75 on the 400s then do the mile pace on the 800s. So my times went like this, 75, 2:44, 76 for the first set. After these I was not that tired at all so we took a lap then started the second set. I ran the 400s with Natalie and the 800 with Bill. My times went 74, 2:54, 75. I am not sure about the 800 time but I know it was a lot slower than what I needed it to be. Today I had an okay workout, I want to do more workouts like these because this seemed like a really good workout. Then we did the foothill loop for a cooldown.

Went to track practice, we did usual 2 laps warm up, stretching, and drills then everyone did the distance workout. Started with mile warm up, mile of speed changes, ran to the bathroom. Then found out the workout, it was the 200 400 workout. So I was partnered with Kevin in a group with Caden-Dakota and Yance-Abigail. I ran a 400 then Kevin would do the last 200 with me trying to outkick me. Then he would do a 400 and I would try to outkick him. My group was supposed to get 75 for the 400s. So For the first one I lead and we did 71 which didn't feel fast, it felt fine and I didn't get outkicked. The rest of my 400 times went like this 71 and 74 so they were all faster than supposed to be. Then my 200s went like 32, 33, 35 so also all faster than supposed to be and I out kicked Kevin on the last 2 times. Then after I went to the zoo I ran a half mile thinking I could go farther but couldn't because my mom came and picked me up at about Clayton because we were going to see the Hunger Games.

This morning I met up with Sarah at the Highland High School track to do some stride kind of stuff before our race tomorrow. So I ran to Highland, met up with Sarah and did 2 miles of speed changes on the track and then we cooldowned home (as if we weren't cool enough socially and from the freaken snow!!!); we went along 2100 south, turned on 1700 east, over to downington, up to 1900 east and then home. Later I will do some more but right now my hands are freezing and I can barely move them...........

PM: Tonight I went over to Sugarhouse park and met up with Levi for a short shake out run. I got there early and did a mile warm up, half mile of J's then stretched. Levi then showed up and I did another lap of regular J's and then we did 2 laps of Curve J's where you run hard for the whole curve then 50 meters of the straightaway. Took a recovery lap and then a timed 400 in 73 seconds I think. Then I did a half mile cooldown and stretched and finished off the day in a 10 minute ice bath.

I only got 5.5 hours of sleep last night because I couldn't fall asleep and it was like 25 degrees when we arrived at the track. So we all went and checked in for the mile and warmed up with Sarah. I did 2 laps on the track and it was hurting my knee so I stopped and stretched then did another lap with Caden. We all went over to the Bullpen to get seeded and Caden and I were in heat 4, I was hip number 13 because of my incredibly slow time from last week.

Caden and I did about a mile and a half warm up including strides and the jogging we did around the Bullpen. We finally lined up, after we lost our entire warm up from standing at the line and at the Bullpen forever. The gun goes off and since I was up on the second shelf thing I had to wait till the 100 meter mark to cut in and I was in second place at that point. Then I cut in and Caden passed me again and I mentally gave up. I went through the 400 at 76 which is a lot slower than I wanted so I tried to push this next lap. My 800 was 2:47 which is way slow. The third lap I started to pick up the pace at the 600 meter mark and it was a good thing. Then on the last lap I passed one person on the far end of the track then I saw a kid about 10 meters ahead of him so I passed him at about the 200 and from the 300 I was kicking pretty hard but I got outkicked again this time. My final time was 5:43 which is faster than last week but still incredibly slow!! I need to focus and push these next few races!! Then when I got home, after I watched Kiley race in Arcadia I did a 3 mile run to finish out for the week.

Well this run sucked!!!!!!!!! So we started with the usual 2 laps warm up, then stretching then six laps of drills, stride, jog, stairs, jog, repeat. We did high knees, butt kicks, power skips, lunges, then karaoke both ways. Then we jogged over to Kernodles Hill and did 10 strides up it. Then distance finally went on our run. THIS RUN SUCKED!!!!!!! It was sooo hot, felt long, boring, tiring, etc. It was so hot I ran the whole day today shirtless haha and got my tan on haha. But we ran up emigration canyon 4 miles and back. It took me 74 minutes of running, 45 up the canyon then 29 coming back. I felt ok coming back but on a rock in the road I tweeked my knee and now I can barely walk. Hopefully it feels better by tomorrow.

Yesterday I tweeked my knee running down the canyon and it was hurting all day today but I decided to try practice anywase. So I started with the warm up and that absolutely killed it so we stretched and even bending my knee in some of the stretches hurt my knee so I decided not to do the workout and Bill didn't want me to race tomorrow:( so I came home, took an ice bath and iced my knee and sore calfs.

Today since I am not racing at the meet, I went to the APUSH Seminar and then drove out to the meet. But Rich missed the bus so I gave him a ride out to the meet also. When I arrived there, Bill asked me how my knee is and I said it was better, still a little sore but I think I can run tomorrow. I still decided not to run today to make sure it is totally healed, I wanna try tomorrow out with the Tempo and see how that feels. After helping Abigail and Gavin run the Javelin spot, I went and FREAKED  out at THE ENTIRE TEAM for not cheering anyone on when they were racing. I am if your not going to cheer, you might as well leave the meet when your done! After freaking out at the team multiple times because they didn't cheer until the very end of the meet, I cheered for the 4x400 guys and girls and went home on the bus. When I got home I iced my knee and my calfs because I want to start running again tomorrow.......... Hopefully

1st day back from taking a few days off for my knee and it was too soon. We started with the two vertical laps in the school because it was pooring, stretching, drills in the halls, wall sits, high knee line thing and then step ups. Then distance did a fartlek workout down at Liberty when it was pooring rain! I jogged down with Caden and my knee was not hurting at this point. But when we got to the drinking fountain it hurt a bit but I was going to tough it out, which was the worst thing I could have done to it. The workout was 5 sets of 2 on 1 off 1 on 1 off, five of each. I ran with Caden and we were staying consistent 75 second 400s for the ons then for the offs we slowed down a bit for Kiley to catch up to us. My knee hurt a bit but not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to. Caden and I got about 4 miles in the fartlek workout according to my watch but I didn't start it until the light at the park. When we finished we went back to the drinking fountain and when we stopped I immediately collapsed because my knee couldn't hold my weight. So we decided to walk back the opposite way, walk a few steps and then collapse- then Caden help me up then collapse again. When we got to the light at 7th east and 9th south, the team was on the opposite side of the street so I called over to Bill and he knew something was up so he offered to have me walk to 9th and 9th and he would pick us up at the coffee garden, Thanks Bill. So we stopped at the coffee garden after about a half hour of walking the half mile from me collapsing to the ground and my parents came and got us and drove us up to the school. I found out I have something called Plika or something in my knee and I can't run for about a week, and I need to ice it and apply heat everyday. Just as I was getting my speed back, this happens. GREAT!!!!

Today was my first day back with Plika. So we started with the 2 laps warm up, stretching and drills and my knee was feeling fine so Bill had me go with the sprinters today because he doesn't want me to go straight into the hard workouts and reinjure myself, to ease into it and get my speed back by saturday.... Hopefully. But I was with Jasmine, Gavin, Sam, Dakota and Sophie and we did 2 sets of circuits of 2 legged hop ups, FREAKING HIGH step ups, squats, lunges, push ups, planks, side planks, and fall and goes with grapevine. We did that twice and my knee started to hurt a little on the second set. Before we broke into groups we all went over to the Hill going into the Soccer field to do 8 hills. We were put into groups with our physical fitness and I was with Dakota and Caden, I was a bit worried considering I hadn't run for almost a week but I did pretty good. Especially because I won all of the hills. We started like a race and strided up the hill then kicked it in hard about 20 meters at the top of the hill. After those, Bill wanted me to do 2 300s so I did them in 48 and 49 so pretty consistent and pretty fast considering I hadn't run for a while. Then I did 2 laps cooldown with Dominique and it was a good thing because my knee was starting to hurt. Not terribly bad like last week but enough that I was starting to limp. Then we set up the ice bath and I took a REALLY REALLY REALLY COLD ice bath for 15 minutes and that made my knee feel better. Hopefully I feel good enough Saturday to race the mile competitively!!!

Thank you, and "Plika" is an over use injury. Pretty much its I have been over using my knee with out much recovery so my tendons are inflamed and swollen. Pretty much on the verge of tearing but not quite that severe..... Yet, hopefully it wont get that bad though.

Ibuprofen or some inflammatory would probably help a lot... I know Bill had a new year's resolution to do things like ice and stretch to take care of injuries rather than resort to ibuprofen all the time, but your injury sounds like it would benefit from ibuprofen in addition to icing and resting it.

Today I got to go to practice and run. We started with the 2 laps warm up, then stretching. I didn't do drills because they hurt my knee but I stretched during those. The workout was go over to Sugarhouse Park, do the outside laps of 10x 90 second fartlek workout. I made it to 1300 east with my knee getting progressively worse so I turned around because I didn't want what happened last week to happen again. It looks like I am not racing on Saturday:(

Today I got to run and do the whole workout......... Kind of.. We started with the usual track warm up of two laps, stretching then drills but I sat out of drills so I would be able to run. Then the distance group with mile warm up, two mile speed changes then mile cooldown. I started out with Natalie and Caden, but after the first mile of speed changes I was with them feeling great but then I wiped out and todally died. I was exhausted. I kept telling myself I need to finish this so  I did the next mile of speed changes a lot slower. Then I only did a 2 lap cooldown because I was totally exhausted. But today was my first day back doing any kind of speed in almost two weeks and I did half of it with Natalie so that is some sort of accomplishment. After my knee kills so bad! It hurt like it did last week:( but it didn't hurt while I was running:) Looks like I am not racing tomorrow:(

Then the workout was 12 hills on the cement hill over by the soccer fields. I was in a group with Caden and Gavin and I won all of the hills we did except on the second to last one Bill put me in Tomy, Natalie, and Chris' group and  I got second in that heat. Then I went on the Gimp run where Me, Caden, Abigail, Sarah S., and Gavin all ran over to ninth south, up to Stephies house, over to Bonneville elementary to stalk the lacrosse players, over to Sarahs Grandmas house, ran through the sprinklers, back on to 1900 east, over to 9th south, and down to the track. It was a fun run that it felt nice to be back running again.

2 days of running I got to do in a row! We started with the 2 laps war up, stretching, sat out of drills, then we did 3 laps warm up, and a mile of speed changes. Then we found out the workout was 12 400s and I was supposed to do as many as I could. My times for the first set of 4, we did 3 sets of 4 400s. So my times for the first set were supposed to be 83, 81, 80 and 79. I actually hit 80, 80, 76, 79 so I went faster than I was supposed to and I felt pretty good! Then we took a lap the opposite way as a recovery and started the next set. I was in a group with Abigail and Gavin but Gavin had to leave and Abigail fell behind so  I was hitting my times alone. My times for this set was supposed to be 84, 82, 80, 79 and I hit 84, 82, 80, 79 so I was right where I needed to be for this set, then I took another lap recovery and by this point my knee had been hurting a lot so I did another lap and called it a day. I iced my knee, did arm swings, and calf raises when everyone was still finishing.

3 Days of running in a row! Today I got to race for the first time in about two and a half weeks! So I decided to do the 400 and see how that feels then I will see where I am after that. So I warmed up with Dakota, Sam, and Gavin for the 400 and we did about a half mile warm up, then we stretched and did strides before our races. I was in heat 2 because I was assuming I was going to be slower than I actually was. So they called my heat up and I was in lane 5 and Gavin was in heat 2. They lined us up and shot the LOUD gun and were off. I got out pretty fast because I didn't know how fast to go out in a 400 but after the 100 I immediately took the lead! IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So going through the 200 me legs were getting tired but I told myself  "Patrick, you are winning the race, do not give up now!" So I kept going and with 100 meters to go my legs felt like lead but I was still in the lead. Then I heard some one coming up in lane 4, it was some Highland kid that ran the mile with Caden. I held him off until the last 5 meters of the race! I have to admit, winning that race for the 395 meters that I did was freaking amazing! Then I did 2 laps cooldown. I decided not to do the 800 because my knee was hurting when I finished the 400. Oh, by the way, my 400 time was 58 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I decided to do the 4x400 team with Neff starting us, then me, then Chris, the Sam Hafen. Neff got us out pretty good, we were in second place behind the Other East team. Caden was their second runner as was I to my team so I was not going to let Caden beat me again. So I went out fast just as I did in the 400 but they were about 40 meters ahead of my team. Along the far end of the track, I could see Caden coming closer but I knew my race was coming to an end so I kicked really hard and I got about 10 meters from him then I couldn't pass him. I don't know if physically I could have gone those few strides faster to pass him or mentally I didn't want to die and loose it for my team, but I didn't pass Caden. I did make up 30 yards on him in about 200 meters! My 400 time for that was 62 or 63ish, my mom didn't know when to start the stop watch. But then I did a lap cooldown and called it a day because my knee was hurting, this is the 3rd time I have run this week, and regions is in 2 weeks and I can not afford to re-injure myself this close to regions! I came home and iced my knee a bit then went to bed.

4 Days of running in a row!! Today for practice, we started with the usual 2 laps warm up, then stretching. Then for drills we did the 6 laps of jogging 100 meters around the curve, then doing high knees-butt kicks- power skips- lunges- and grape vine both ways for 50 meters, then stride out the other 50 meters, jog around the far curve and then go up and down all of the stairs then repeat for 6 laps. I did the first one and it hurt my knee so I stopped and stretched and I did the 3rd and the 5th one. I started and did me 3 laps with Chris, Caden and Gavin. Then the workout was 4 200s passing a baton for the 4x800 on Saturday. I was Partnered up with Caden and he started so I went over to the 200 mark and got the baton about 10 meters 20 meters behind chris and I caught up to chris and outkicked him. Then on the Second one I started with the baton and since I finished 3rd, I started 3rd and I got out fast and immediately got ahead of chris by about 10 meters and passed the baton to Caden pretty well. Then for the third one my hamstrings all of the sudden got really tired but Caden got the baton to me in 5th place right behind Tomy so I caught up to Chris and we passed Gabriella and I outkicked Chris again. Then on the Last one I started in 4th place next to chris, then I started out slower than usual then I had to catch back up to chris, I got about 5 up to him then I passed the Baton to Caden really well. Then I keeled over DEAD! I don't know why this workout killed me, maybe because I did the 200s really fast but I was exhausted. Then I went to peer court.

Track warm up, jogged down to 1300 east, I made it to I think its 4th south then I turned around because my knee was killling me. Then I did 2 300s and my times were 50 and 48. I was aiming for 60 so I went a bit fast. Going fast didn't hurt them at all but then jogging around killed them. 2 laps cooldown with the sprinters.

Half mile warm up, then stretching then I lined up for the boys 400. I was in Heat 2 again with Gavin. I wanted to win my race again but I didn't. When the gun went off, I started out slower than I usually do so that way I don't die on the final stretch like I usually do. Going past the first turn I was in 4th place but I was on the inside lane so I was expecting to catch the other people. But I was going around the curve the same speed as them. So going down the final curve they got there in front of my and I came in 4th place:( with a time of 60 seconds flat, so my placing was off and my time was slower! Then I did a lap with Gavin then we lined up for the 800. My goal for the 800 was to break 2:40 and not be totally wiped out with that time. I start out kind of fast, with a 78 second first lap in a group with Gavin and Sam Hafen. Along the final stretch Gavin and Sam both out kicked my but I had a time of 2:36 so I stayed consistent between both laps and I was not tired at all after that. Then I did another lap before the 4x400. Dakota went first, then me, then Caden then Sam. Dakota got us out into 2nd place and I held on gaining some ground on the first place team, I gained about 20 of the 50 meters. Then Caden and Sam just stayed that distance. Overall that race was good and our team went pretty slow, but we weren't last!

Crazy track day and I did 2 miles at the track, WHITE TEAM WON!!!!!!!!

Then I met up with Larry later that night to do a workout. I ran down to sugarhouse park, 2 laps of speed changes, timed 400 with Larry in 95 seconds, 2 more laps speed changes but on the recovery I was supposed to go 30%, 40%, 50% and then 60% and that was pretty hard. Then I cooled down with larry in his 800, I was supposed to bring him through under 4 minutes and we went through in 3:40, then I did a lap with larry and ran home. My knee was hurting a lot through this but I need to push until regions! I am going to beat Caden and be under 5:20!

Today I was not planning on racing because I thought we arrived at the race to late so I assumed we missed the 1600 (which we did). So after Cheering on Kiley, Abigail and Tomy on their races Bill told me we are all going down to Provo High for the 800. So we warmed up running down to the high school which is a half mile, then we quickly got registered did one stride then they seeded us. I was in heat 2 in lane 2 because they only put 6 people in each heat so they could all start in their own lane. So I was in lane 2. Bill told me to get in a good position at the start. So the gun goes off and I got out hard. I was in first with Sam Hafen right behind me. We go through the 400 in 70 which is exactly what I needed. Then with 100 meters to go Sam out kicks me and a provo kid out kicked me! I had never been out kicked when I was kicking hard before! I PRd today and so did all of the boys who ran the 800 (except Tomy). Bill said at the 700 meter mark my form fell apart and that was when I was passed. So I need to work on my form at the end of races before region! Then we all jogged back to BYU to grab our money, cheer on Andy throwing the shot put then we jogged and got food. Overall I was glad I raced and everyone did amazing! Especially NATALIE WHO DID A 4:51.03 a new STATE RECORD! THIRD OVERALL!!!!!!

Well here it comes, REGIONS! So I arrive at the track, do a half mile warm up with Caden and Gavin and then a half mile of J's to loosen up my legs. Then I go to my stuff, get a drink, put spikes on and head over to the bullpen. I was seeded 8 in heat 1 so I started on the first lane next to Gavin on my right and Caden on my left. Caden and I had a plan that we would go out at 75, 80, 80, 75 and get a 5:10, yea that did not work. The gun goes off and were off, I started out fast and about the 300 mark Caden and I are running shoulder to shoulder then going through the 400 were at 70 so we were already off pace. We stuck together for the 800 and we went through at 2:32 so we were on pace but slowing down fast. We went through the 1200 at 4:08 and we were still together. Then with 350 to go Caden gets away from me and I hear Natalie yelling at Gavin, I guess he worked his way up to us and caught up to us, he passed me with 50 meters to go and I couldn't kick. I think I ran a really well 1200 then I totally died. I was disappointed with my race but it was the fastest I have run the mile since March before I got injured. Then I did a mile cooldown and FLEW TO COLORADO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is JV regions and I was planning on making it a fun day since it was the first day back running since I got back from Colorado, actually since Regions a week ago. So I did a half mile warming up with Gavin for high jump. We almost jumped over 5 feet 2 inches and for our first time doing it, it was a lot of fun. Then we decide to do the 400 and the 800. For the 400, I was in heat 1 which was the fast heat because I guess im fast at the 400. So I line up in lane 4 and the gun goes off and its a false start! Dang, so we line up again and were off again and its clean. I go around the 100 passing Sam Hafen and sticking with a kid on the outside of me. The fast heat goes out fast! Along the far stretch, lanes 1-3 catch up to me so we are all running in a line then going around the curve they got infront of me. Then the kid in lane 5 passes me. I totally died along the far curve. Then with 20 meters to go, Sam Hafen passes me even though I was kicking it in as hard as I could. The timers said I did a 61 but me and my dad timed it at a 56 so I am going with that! Then I did the 4x400. I was third, it went Sam Hafen, Gavin, me then Rich to kick us in. Sam got the baton to Gavin in 5th place, Gavin got it to me in 4th place then I got the baton to Rich in 3rd place and he held on the third place! I did at 400 in 58-59 so I know my other 400 was timed wrong:) Then Gavin, me and Caden all went over and did discus. I scratched on all 3 of my throws and Gavin threw 49 feet and Caden threw 45 feet! Wow were good at that!

Since I didn't need to go to 1st period because we have already taken the AP test, well most people have, I haven't! It sucks! I have to take it on friday because I was in Colorado! Anywase, jogged down to Highland and back. Easy peasy lemon squeezy run while pancakes were cooking! 

PM: I did a lap around sugarhouse park with Levi for a warm up then we walked over to the track. We started with the 20%, 30% 40% 50% percent incline of speed changes then we "did" the workout. I got through the warm up then had to stop because of my stupid knee! I think its my shoes because they are worn out a bit and are making my knees go inside when I run so I am going to try out new shoes and see if that doesn't hurt my knee. I did 8 100 meter strides barefoot along the grass and that didn't hurt my knee at all so hopefully it is just the shoes because then I can start seriously training!

Mile warm up with Levi and Andy and a mile of speed changes. We did that mile of speed changes in 5:33, the 20% 30% 40% and 50% on the recovery's. Then I did a 400 to the bathroom, then came back and chased Andy in a 400. I started 10 seconds behind me and Levi started 2 seconds behind me. Levi caught up to me but did not pass me, I came through at 63. Then I timed Andy in an 800 in 3:52, I was supposed to bring him under 4 minutes. Then I did a mile cooldown. I ended early because my knee started hurting. I changed shoes to see if that helped with my knee and it did, I think it was the shoes! YAY NOT TO SERIOUS!!!!

Today was the first day of Tiny Tots Track Club!!!! I lead the boys in a group lap warm up then we all stretched in the center of the field. Then Tolbert broke us into groups. Me and Dominique was in charge of the hurdle section when they bunny hopped over the hurdles! Then we all did a group lap cooldown and stretched and had the coaches meeting. Then I did my workout. I did a half mile warm up, mile of speed changes then 4 200s with 200 recovery. My times were 34, 35, 35, 35. I was dissapointed with these but my knee didn't hurt until the last one. I did the 200s in my spikes. Then I took my spikes off and did 2 grass laps cooldown.

Today was the second day of Tiny Tots. So I picked Dominique up early and we went to the track early to do my workout. I was going to make today a recovery day to be cautious about my knee. So we did a half mile warm up then a half mile of J's. Then I put my spikes on and did a timed 400 in 65 seconds. Then I changed shoes and did a 3 lap cooldown. Then the kids for Tiny Tots came and I took them on a one lap warm up then a stretching circle in the center of the field. Then Tolbert had Me, Vuong, Dominique, Jasmine, and Caroline do the 800 workouts. IT was sprint for 50 meters, jog 50 meters and walk 50 meters for 2 laps around the track. We did that with the 8 and under kids, 9-10 year olds, 11-12 year olds, and then for the 13 and up we changed it from a 50 each it was 75x75x75. Since we had to change the cones twice for the 50 to 75 Vuong and I did 2 extra laps. We did the 800s 4 times plus the 2 laps of recovery changing the cones. Then we had the coaches meeting and Caroline and I did 2 laps cooldown to get to 5 for the day. Today was great! My knee did not hurt at all!! So I guess it was my shoes that was hurting my knee! I am so relieved that it was just the shoes rather than something serious!

Today we had the first Tiny Tots meet ever for this year! So I arrived at the track and saw Andy and Tolbert and they asked me to do Shot Put. So of course I said yes because I didn't expect to be doing Short Put for 5 hours straight! So I was standing in the sun for 5 hours measuring the kids throws, I was going to do the 400 but I didn't hear the final call for the 400 so I missed my age division. So since I was burning up and already had no energy because the sun wiped my energy, my race then and there was going to be bad. So they made the final call and I went over to the bull pin so we could be seeded, I was seeded 2nd in heat 3 so I still had like 10 minutes because the 3 to 12 year olds were in 2 heats ahead of me...... great more waiting in the sun!!!!!!!!!! So they finally line us up and the gun goes and were off!

As soon as the gun goes off I was in 2nd place, I overheard the judges coach tell this kid to go out super fast thinking I would go with him and die off, but I didn't go with him, the Judge kid went through the 400 in 58 seconds and then he slowed down a lot! He finished with a 2:18 HAHA. But anywase it is better than what I did, So I go through the 400 at 70 exactly what I needed and I wasn't tired so I start picking up, well what I thought was picking up the pace but infact since I was alone or I thought I was alone I was slowing down. I slowed down so much that a girl caught up to me. With 200 meters to go, this girl passed me so I couldn't let her beat me so I go on the outside on the final curve and me and her were battling it around the final curve then with 100 to go she got a new gear or something because she blew me in the dust and beat me by 4 seconds. I finished 2nd overall in the boys so I did qualify for regionals which was my goal but my time was very disappointing, I know I could have run a lot faster! 

Since I did a mile and a half warm up including the  8 strides I did in the blazing sun above, I did a mile and a half cooldown waiting for awards. Then I went back over to shot put and decided to throw, I was the only Young Adult that threw today so I placed 1st overall with 2 scratches and a throw of 11 feet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 miles before the last official day of school!!!!!!!!!! I was going to throw some 400s in there but I talked myself out of it, now im feeling guilty. I was so tired and lazy this morning I didn't put any shoes on! In the afternoon I went to the park and ran down there. But then I met up with larry and we did another half mile warm up. Then we did 3 laps of Js and then a light speed workout before the early release party for the yearbook. I didn a 200x400x200. My times went 34x72x33. So these times are pretty, really, really slow but they are sub 5 minute miles which is what I need to get to. Then I did a half mile cooldown, more of sprinting to the car so I can get to the early release party to get my JUNIOR YYEAR YEARBOOK!!!

Well, today is yearbook day! Thank goodness!! So from school I ran home at 2 miles but then I saw zoe and she gave me ride the last half mile so I was quilted into running another half mile when I got home:( . In the PM my dad drove down to sugarhouse park to meet me there. I ran down there and did another half mile in the park to get a mile and a half warm up at a 6:55 pace and I was not tired at all which is a good sign! So then my dad timed me in 400s. When I was going down the big hill and saw Caden on those weird skis things, the skis on the roller skates! That looks really really hard! But anywase, my dad timed me in 4 400s. My times averaged 72 seconds which is perfect! Then I did a very fast half mile cooldown to get to 5.5 in the day. I did a 200 recovery inbetween each 400. Overall it was a very effective but VERY cold workout!

Today since it is National Running Day I decided to go for a run, with out any speed. Just a recovery run! So I walked down To Sugarhouse Park when my mom and aunt Denise took the car, I walked down to Sugarhouse Park in my flip flops so I forgot my running shoes so I had to do this run barefoot. So I ran outside the perimeter of the park twice then I ran almost a whole lap on the inside of the park to get to the full five miles. It was a tough run because I was averaging a 7:20 pace and I have not really ran that fast for that long in a long time but it felt nice. Then I came home and ate ice cream!!!!!!!

Today I wore my new Saucony running shoes but I am too lazy to put in the shoe name in the shoe counter thing. So anywase, before I did the errands before my sisters high school graduation I went for a two mile run. Then I came home and did a half mile warm up at 6:50 pace, then I did 4 400s, in 69 which is slow. It felt like I was going faster than I did so I think I timed the last one wrong because I know it was faster than 69. Then I did a half mile cooldown.

Horrible Race with a Horrible Time. My whole family slept in today, the race started at 8 in the morning and since we all slept in I got up at 7:30 and didn't get to eat anything. Arrived at the race by 7:40, finished check in at 7:50 and then they made us line up. So I quickly got 4 strides in but that wasn't enough. I was not even breathing hard! So the gun goes off and I immediately take the lead. Me and Greg Schneider were first and second through the first mile, maybe mile and a half. We go through the first mile at 5:30 and since I had to warm up I was breathing hard and I totally crashed! My next mile was a 7:50, and then I finally got it down to a 7:20 for the last mile. Then the last .25 was at 7:07 pace. This race was bad, its a good course though. The first mile is all down hill then the last 2 miles are all uphill. So its a good strength workout. Then I did a 3.25 mile cooldown with Lisa while waiting for awards. Then we had a great pancake breakfast because they feed you after this race! THEY FEED YOU DONUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then when I was eating my delicious breakfast, I tried to take my Garmin off and it snapped in half........... GREAT...........

Later today I met up with Larry for a short speed workout. I jogged over to Sugarhouse park, and did a half mile warm up with Larry. Then I did 2 150 meter long strides with 2 150 meter long strides progressively getting faster. Then we did 3 200 meter uphill strides progressively getting faster each 20 meters. We had a 200 meter recovery after those jogging back to the start. Then I started the speed. I did 3 200s in 34, 35, 33 with 90 seconds recovery. Then I did a 400 in 72. Todays workout was a good one and a fun one. Then I did a lap cooldown on the track and called it a day.

Today again I didn't get the XC email on where the workout is so I went and did my own workout. I started with a half mile warm up around the Highland High School Track, then immense stretching because I was sore from the hills yesterday. Then I went over to the road in the park and did a lightpost run. I started with 1x1x1x1x1x1x2x1x2x1x2x1x1x1x1x1x1x1. I started on and then did 3 sets of 1 on 1 off, 2 on 1 off, and 1 on 1 off. Then I finished out the lap and did another lap for a cooldown.

PM: Today at Tiny Tots, I started with a half mile warm up with the kids then the distance group was going on an LSD run. I took the little Bantam kids for 30 minutes while Kenzie took the older kids for 40 minutes. I took my kids up to sunnyside out one mile and back. Which was not a good idea because I did not know I was not supposed to leave the track with the kids, so that was bad but Tolbert has my back and told all the parents that it was his fault for not telling me where I can and can not take the kids for thier run.

AM: went over to Dilworth elementary with my dad to do 400s. I did a lap warm up, then 3 400s in 71-72. Then I did a lap cooldown.

PM: At tiny tots, I did a half mile warm up alone then did Tolberts workout, which was like butt kicks, high knees, buttkick high knees, and then snaps. We did 15 of each. Then the kids came and it was a speed workout for them. I was pacing the Bantams I think for 90-95 seconds of each lap. Their workout was 800-400-400-200-200. I did the 800-400-200-200 with them because I was timing on the other two. So I brought the kids through in 3:09 for the 800, then 76 in the 400, and my last 200 I did 34. I was just pacing myself of the 400 and the 200. Then I did a 200 recovery back to the start. After my 400 I jogged a 400 then ran down to the 200 to read out their splits for the 400. Then I cooled down and called it a day.

Today since I got the text about Abigails workout after I had already ran I didn't go to her workout. So I went from my house, over to Sugarhouse park, did a lap in their with some other cross country team, then did an outside lap and ran home. When I got home I ran up to Clayton and back to get to 5. I felt like I was going so slow today! I feel so lost without my Garmin! I need it to pace me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PM: Tonight at Tiny Tots I got there early and decided to do a light speed workout because it was centers day where all of the kids do all of the events to try out new stuff so I didn't think I would get a workout in. So I did a mile warm up then changed shoes. I did 4 200s in 32, 31, 32, 32. I felt really good on these. Then I changed back into my shoes and did a half mile cooldown. Then Walter said I was going to do  another workout. It was a weird type of Fartlek. Where we sprint all out 50 meters, then go back down to our race pace for 50 meters, then repeat. Since I had already done the 200s I only had to do a half mile of that when everyone else did a mile of it. I felt really fast on that, then I did a lap cooldown to get to 3 this afternoon.

Today I did a speed workout, or I attempted to do a speed workout. I started with a mile warm up, then 3 laps of J's to loosen up my sore legs. The workout was 400, 800, 400 all at 70 pace. My first 400 was 68 and I was not tired at all. Then when I found out I was doing an 800 at 70 pace, I mentally broke down. My first 400 was 70 and I was dyeing and I had to drop out after 100 meters of the second lap because I could not breathe. I don't know what was wrong but it was horrible! Then the last 400 I did in 71. Then I did a half mile cooldown and called it a rough day.

My knee was hurting a lot in the warm up but during the 400s, it did not hurt at all. Which I thought was weird. I was surprised I could do this workout because of the disappointing fiasco that happened on Friday. Then I did a 3.5 mile cooldown.

This afternoon when I got home from the peer court conference, I did a light speed workout with Levi. AND MY GARMIN CAME IN THE MAIL because I broke my other one...... Anywase, I ran down to Sugarhouse Park with my spikes, did a lap in the park with Levi then I did 8 strides on the grass because my knee was hurting again. So after that, since my knee was hurting I didn't have to do the full five minutes. I was pacing Levi in a run to see how far on the track he could get in five minutes. I was supposed to do the last five minutes with him. So I started about 100 meters into his 3rd lap around the track and we immediately sped up. Then with 300 meters left until Levi got to the mile he had about 45 seconds until he wasn't going to be under five anymore so I was told to just go for it and run hard and gap Levi. Then we came through the mile in 4:57 so we got farther than a mile! Then we took 2 laps recovery on the grass and soaked our heads. Then we did a timed 400. I did it in 69 seconds still with spikes on. Then took another lap on the grass and called it a day.

This morning I got up and I was sore stiff from dancing HARD two nights ago! So I left my house, ran up to clayton, turned down on that street by clayton, ran it all the way down till 2100 South then went up to 1900 East and back home, Then watched to new Snooki and Jwoww show:)

When waiting for my aunt to come out of surgery because her small intestine ruptured or something I decided to get my second run in. I went out a mile and a half on 5400 south or 5300 south, I dont remember. Then I came back the same way and went and waited for my aunt in recovery and am still waiting in the hospital.....

This morning I woke up crazy early, more like my dad had to physically force me out of bed. So I jogged a mile warm up then went over to the track for 2 800 time trials with my cheering squad (AKA my parents)

. I didnt time my 800s, I just ran what felt like I was pushing, my parents screamed out one minute and 2 minutes when they passed so I am assuming I did about 2:20 for both. After 2 I was dead so I did a mile cooldown. Then when I was mowing my lawn I realized I had another half mile to do so after mowing my lawn I ran up to 1700 east and back..................... BOOYA!

This morning I woke up early to go and get my run done and I got it done before 7:30 in the morning which was a really nice change for once. So I did a mile warm up and a light speed workout to wake up the legs for this weekend at the Utah Summer Games. So my workout was 800x800x400x400. My times were 2:31, 2:30, 69, 71 so a good even effort workout for this morning. Then I ran a mile home and then from my house ran up .75 and back the same way which got me to about 1300 south when I had to turn around. Good way to start the week. PS: TOMORROW IS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PM: I ran down to Sugarhouse Park with my new waterbottle belt that I got for my birthday. So I did 3 laps of J's for a warm up then I heard my workout. It was a ladder of 200, 300, 400, 300, 200 but if I ran under 65 for my 400 I didn't have to do the second 300 :0. So My times went like this: 31,  50, 65, 31. Since I ran a 65 for my 400 I didn't have to do the second 300. Then I cooled down until I got to 5 for tonight.

ITS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anywase I arrived at Sugarhouse Park this morning after I opened my presents. So I did a lap in the park right when I got there, then I waited with Larry, and waited and waited and waited for 40 minutes and no one else came so we just decided to do my own workout. Since I did speed yesterday I thought of doing a workout that would loosen up my legs, I jogged a 200 to warm up the legs again then went and dropped off my water bottle in the shade then figured out the workout. I decided to do 40 200s all getting faster on each one. On the first one I did 35 and I was thinking of going 34, 33, and 32. But that didn't happen. On my second one I did 31, so im like OH CRAP! I waited for a minute and on the third one I did 30 so I did pick up the pace. Then Larry said he didn't want my legs to be wiped out so I only had to do 3:). Then I cooled down 2 laps on the track then 2.5 miles out on the streets.

This afternoon after some DRAMA went down and after all of my friends came over for my birthday and brought me donuts and cake things (Thanks Sarah Bischoff)!!!! And after they iced the donuts (Abigail) I went to Tiny Tots and got some running in. I had not changed into running clothes because I was at the gaming store getting my XBox fixed so I was in regular shorts and a T-shirt. But I jogged around and got just over 2 miles before Tiny Tots was over.

This morning after arriving at Cedar City High school, I had like 6 hours till my race was supposed to start. So I did a warm up mile with Kenzie and one of her friends to sort of loosen up my legs before I had to actually warm up about five hours later. So at about one in the afternoon, and I was supposed to race at 1:38, I went for a half mile warm up around the parking lot and then came back and grabbed my spikes and went over to the bullpen. I was seeded in heat 2 lane 4 for the 400 which was before my 800. So I was stretching in the bullpen because I didn't want to be in the sun before I raced if I didn't have to be. So they finally called my heat to go over to the line so I grabbed my water bottle and went down to the grass. I put my spikes on and did drills and strides before they lined us up in our lanes. They stopped the race because since I am in the "young men" age group I was forced to start out in blocks. So since I had no idea what-so-ever on how to do blocks I kept the blocks the same as the person who ran on them before me did. So the gun went off and the whole field went out really fast! I was last in my heat so I didn't think I made it to finals tomorrow but I did! I was 7th overall and the top eight qualify for finals. I ran a 59 which really sucks but I was dead! I had about 40 minutes till my 800 started so I went back to the tent sat down for 10 minutes got water and went back to the bullpen to be seeded in the 800. I was in heat one seed 10 with my GHETTO 10!!! I was still dead after the 400 and I knew this was not going to be a good race right from that! So they lined us up and were off. I go through that 400 in 69 seconds and then I start hyperventilating and cant breathe! So I keeled over at the 450 meter mark and was taken to the medical tent for like 20 minutes or so. After that fiasco I go for a cooldown of about 2 miles then took an ice bath when we got back to the hotel.

This morning after forgetting about what happened at yesterdays trauma, I arrived at the meet with an open mind. My race was first today so it was in the morning so I got to get it over with :). So I did a mile warm up including strides but it was probably .75 of a mile warm up. Then I went to the tent, took my water bottle and got my spikes and headed over to the bullpen again. This time they were combining the older groups and the younger groups into one race to take less time. So I was in heat one and seeded 10 again with yet again another GHETTO 10!!!! So this was actually a 1500 not a mile but I don't know how to put it in meters so I said it was a mile. So they lined us all up and the gun goes off and were gone! I got out pretty fast with the lead pack, we went through the first 300 in about 49 seconds. I have no idea the 400 meter split but the 700 meter split was 2:16 so I think the 800 was about 2:32. Then the lead pack started to get ahead of me and because of this I fell back. I dont know the gun lap split but my final time was a 5:01 which really sucks:( but I was exhausted after this race so that shows that I gave it my all and I am glad I raced. Then I ran in the boys 4x100 meter relay and we won first place!!!!!! But after all that work to get my medal, it was stolen:(FML!!!!! Then I did a mile cooldown while cheering for everyone else to finish out their races for the day!

This morning I woke up really really early and got my run done. I did a mile warm up, then 2 800s and 2 400s with equal recovery. Then I did a half mile at the track after the last 400 and then I jogged home.

PM: I ran down to Sugarhood Park and stretched. Then I did 5 laps of J's then I heard the workout. I did 3 200s at a pretty consistent pace of 33, 33, 32. I jogged across the field for recovery but they were continuous running. After the 200s I did a little over a mile cooldown and called it a good day. I was warned about tomorrow's workout............ :(

This morning I went over to Sugarhouse park to do a workout. I was an idiot thought cause they locked the track due to the fireworks. So I did a mile warm up then a mile of one lightpost on and one off. Then I stopped and stretched and found out the workout. It was supposed to be 2 600s with 200 recovery inbetween. So the first one was uphill and I did a 1:58 which is good but I didnt get out fast enough. Then I did the second one down the hill and my time was 1:57 which is horrible! So I had to redo it so I jogged the 600 back up to the start and redid it. This time my 600 was 1:50 which is better but still not fast enough. Then my parents came and got me because we had to mow 3 lawns so i am counting that as a 1.5 mile cooldown:)

PM: Five miles at Tiny Tots. Did a mile and a half warm up, then jogged another lap warm up with the kids then jogged around 3 laps with the kids while they were doing speed changes. Then did another lap around the track then I did a cooldown till five miles which was about 2 miles.

This morning I accidently slept in till 8:30 so I didn't go for my morning run till late. I just ran down to Sugarhouse Park and came back.

Before the Sugarhouse fireworks I went another 5 miles around the park just waiting for the fireworks to start, well and before I met up with all of my friends haha.

This morning I woke up late again because I got 4 hours of sleep so I got up at 6:30 and did the same run as yesterday. It was very boring.

PM: I went and did a run on my own. I warmed up a 400 then stretched and did 4 500s all uphill then I did a 400 cooldown and called it a day and then when I got home I did that last 400 meters from my house to get it to two miles. I ran about halfway up to 1700 East and back with a group of 3 girls screaming at me to go faster at the turn around point:)

This morning I woke up and went to my first Cross Country workout with the "team", we all went up and met at the park-n-ride and then drove up to pipeline trail. I forgot how much I like to run on trails.. I drove up there myself and drove Sarah B and Natalie up the canyon. It was soo cool to be the one driving up the canyon:) so since I had a dentist appointment at 8:15 to get my cavities filled I couldnt stay the whole time. So Bill and them all started the run with out telling everyone so the entire group except Bill and that other kid were about a half mile behind. So I started with Kiley and Abigail but they were going to slow.... SORRY! So I spead it up to like a 7:24 pace then I stayed at that the whole run. I almost caught Bill but I stayed about 10 meters behind him until I had to turn around because well............. So I was winning the run!!! YAY!!! I turned around at the bridge up Pipeline trail and then came back down and got 2 cavities filled:((( IT HURT!!! I hate the Dentist!

PM: I met up with Levi at night because I think I have a race tomorrow. So we did a half mile warm up, then 2 laps of progressively faster J's. Then we stretched. I jogged over to the 200 and did a 200. We did a running start so we started 50 meters before the 200 so we could get up to full speed by the time we were at the 200. I got out fast and took the lead from Levi and he was one stride behind me. But at the top of the curve I got ahead of me and went through the 200 in 26 seconds which is a PR! Then we got water and I did a half mile cooldown.

I woke up at 5 this morning thinking I was running this morning but I am not because I have practice tonight with Levi and Larry and I have a race tomorrow. Later in the day though I will hit up the treadmill when I am done reading:(

I did three miles on the tread mill.

Later, I met up with Larry and Levi. I did a half mile warm up, then 2 laps of progressively faster J's with my spikes on. Then I jogged over to the 200 start, got my hair wet and ran my 200. I did it in 29 so slower but I started out slower, my first 100 was like 16 so I hauled it coming home! Then I changed shoes, did a lap, then a half mile cooldown.

I found out I couldn't race today because the race is only for Midgets and younger so I helped time. Then Vuong and I did a run. We went up to Sunnyside, did a lap in there, ran down to the gully and ran a lap in there then ran back to the track. We were dieing in the heat! IT WAS 100 DEGREES! Way to hot to be running in that! Then later I went to sugarhouse park with my dad, did a lap warm up, one timed 400 nearly keeled over because of the heat, so I was done.

This morning I woke up early because I wanted to hit up the 7/11s for free slurpee day! So I did a mile warm up, and my workout was 800, 800, 400, 400 with equal recovery. Once again my dad didn't let me wear my watch so I don't know my times. I just had to feel like it was pushing. Then I did a mile cooldown. Later that day I did a little run on the treadmill because I had to go to the Tiny Tots track dinner so I coulnd't run after that. My dad and I went to 7/11s but found out it didn't start till 11 AM so we only got one slurpee:( even though we went to 3 7/11s!

PM: this afternoon I met up with Dave for a workout. I drove down to sugarhouse park myself then did a mile warmup around the park and I was already sweating like a pig because it was 103 degrees! Anywase I put my spikes on and did 2 laps of J's then I stretched. Dave came and was doing 200s so I did them with him. We were going to do 4 at 32 pace. For all of them we did a running start so my watch says they were 36 seconds when they werent! So for the firsst one I was leading because we switched off who eas leading and I brought us through at 29 so a bit too fast. Then we jogged across the field and started again. My times went like this 30, 30, and 31 so the 32 was way too slow. Then I cooled down till I got to 4 miles.....

This morning I woke up early to get my pre race run done. This morning was the All County Championship track and field meet! So I arrived at the meet just going out and running hard. I was running the 800 finals and my 4x400 meter team made the finals from previous meets so we got to go straight to finals:) when I heard the intercom call final call for the 400 I warmed up with this Jared kid I knew from previous meets who ran the 400. We did two laps warm up then stretched and cheered on the kids 400 then he had to line up so I did my J's alone. So I did two laps of J's then I went and got my water bottle, took my pants and shirt off so I was in  my uniform then got my spikes and went over to the start because they had called final call for the 800. I was in Heat 4 seed 3 so I had a while till I actually raced. I did about 6 strides across the field then stretched and did drills while I was talking to Linsey and Larita. They lined us up and it was a tight squeeze but we all fit. There was like 30 of us on the first line!

The gun goes off and I elbowed my way to the front of the pack and took the lead immediately. I thought that the whole pack was right behind me but it was actually a group of 4 guys including me. we were strung out by like 2 meters apart from all of us. Going through the 200 I was feeling great so I sped up to gap people but the second place went with me. Me and the kid right behind me gapped the rest of the pack by like 25 meters at the 300 meter mark so I knew it was going to be down to me and this kid for the win. We went through the 400 in 74 which is incredibly slow! So immediately I pick up the pace and this kid goes with me! So at the 600 mark this kid pulls away from me. I try to go with him but we stay about 10 meters apart for the rest of the race. My final time was 2:21.24 so we negative split by 8 seconds ending with a 66 last lap! Which is good but it shows that I didn't use all of my energy in that race! Then I jogged around until my heat for the 4x400. I got about a mile and a half in this time. Then I went and gathered up my 4x400 team which was Rich, Me, Austin, and Vuong. Rich wasn't there and no other boys who looked our age was there either! So we got Gabrielle to run in our team. Vuong started us out and immediately got us a good 50 meter lead. Then he passed me the baton and I got a 100 meter lead on the second place person! Then I passed it on to Gabrielle and she kept the lead!!!! Then when Austin got the baton he got another 50 meter lead on the second place team! So we had a 150 meter lead on the second place team! I did a 61 second 400 for my leg. So I went undefeated today! Then waiting for the awards I cooled down with Vuong. we then heard we were DQ'd in the 4x400 for having a girl! If anything they should have given us another award! THAT IS STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!So after Tolbert Yelling at the Kearns coach for whining that we had a girl and we still killed them by 150 meters I went home with a champions T-Shirt from the 800 and a medal and the winning baton:)

Overall a really good racing day! I am happy I did Tiny Tots Track! Tiny Tots Cross Country is coming up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This afternoon I met up with Levi and Later on Tim and Andrea. Levi and I did 10 strides on Highlands football field then a lap around the park in 8:57 which is a new PR for me because previously it was 9:03 and I did this on my warm up:) So after that Levi and I did 6 laps of J's and I was absolutely Dieing! So I stopped and stretched and then did the next thing. When Tim got there we waited and stretched while he warmed up and then we went on the run with him. We did firemen around the park with 3 guys. The recovery pace was a 5:49! Tim is fast! Then I had to go because it was my parents anniversary:) so I stretched when I got home.

Tonight I did my own workout at Sugarhouse park. I ran down to the park and did a mile and a half. Then I did a mile and a half of J's for warm up then I did a light speed workout. My hip was hurting really bad to the point I was limping so bad I was going at walking pace! So I decided to cut it short. This afternoon I went over to sugarhouse park. I got there and did a road lap as a warm up then I did one mile of J's then I had to go to the bathroom so I took a potty break. Then I did a hill workout. I did a total of 10 hills, 1 hill that was 300 meters long then equal recovery, then 2 that were 275 meters long with equal recovery, then 3 that were 250 meters long with equal recovery then finally 4 that were 225 meters long. Then I had to go so I couldnt get my lap cooldown done so I will be very sore tomorrow:(

This afternoon I met up with Dave, Tim, Andrea, Doug, Harry, Levi, and Larry for a timed trial. So we started with a mile warm up then a few strides. Tim, Dave and I were going to pace Levi at a 4:40 mile. So Tim and Dave did the first 1200 with him then I did the last 800 with him so we were in a group of 4 for the third lap which was fun. Levi died in this and got a 4:50, the first 800 was right on pace at 2:18 then the last 800 he died and we did a 2:30 last 800. I stayed with him for 500 meters then I blew him away so he did like a 2:34 last 800. Then since his time was slow we did another 800. We did it in lanes, I was in lane 5, Levi in 4, Andrea in 7, Doug in 6, Tim in 3, Dave in 2. I started and immediately passed Doug and Andrea but Dave caught up to me at the 100 and we were neck and neck for 200 meters but since i was in an outer lane he passed me and Tim caught me so we finished together in 65 seconds. Then Levi, Tim and I did 6 strides then cooled down about 2 miles.

PM: This afternoon I met up with Sarah! to go for a run in the afternoon. We met at 4 in the afternoon so in the heat of the day. We started from my house, ran up to Dilworth elementary, then over to 1700 south, down to Wasatch Hollow park, into the trail there all the way till the trail ended, left the trail the way we came, went down the park till 1600 east then back over to 1700 south up to 1700 east over to like 1900 south then up to 2000 east over to Downington avenue and back to my house. It was four miles, a pretty easy four miles but they were hot. We went at a nice and relaxed pace.

She ran down to my house, we went up on 1900 east to 8th south, stretched, then we went up to foothill and did a big foothill lap over to the VA hospital, down to Guardsman avenue onto sunnyside, got water at the drinking fountain and then back home on 1900 east, we stopped at the sprinklers though cause it was really hot! Good run though!!

This afternoon I met up with Larry and later Tim and Andrea. So I did a mile warm up running to sugarhouse park then I did a mile of J's then stretched waiting for my sister to get there with my water bottle and my spikes. I changed my shoes then I did a lap of regular speed changes to warm up again then I jogged over to the 200 and did a 200 in 40 seconds to feel the times I would be running. So I did it in 39.94 so really close! Then the workout was 8 400s in 77-80. My first two I felt great and I hit 77, my recovery for all of them was 100 seconds. Then the third one was 77 also but I could then start feeling it in my legs. The fourth one I got 80 and from this point on it was really hurting. But Tim and Andre finally got there so I had Tim to pace me on the last 4. He was going 75-77 so I just needed to stay just a bit behind Tim. The fifth one was 79 which was better and also the sixth one was 79. Then the final two were the hardest! I got 82 and 81! I usually hit my times but today was a hard workout and I was close! I felt good about this workout. Then I did 4 barefoot strides on the grass then a two mile cooldown with Tim and Andrea around the park.

I did a mile warm up right when I got home from Camp Tuttle because I had Mrs. Weidauers wedding to get to. So I warmed up a mile running down to Sugarhouse park, then I went straight into the hills. This afternoon was my first day running injured again. So I did a mile and a half warm up, stretched waiting for Tim to get there. Did another mile warm up when Tim got there then started  the workout. It was 7 500s up the hill and it SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!! My times stayed consistent but got a little slower:( . Then I did a two mile cooldown. It felt weird to be running in a cast but I only have to wear it this week so thats good.

Early this morning my dad and I were out the door at 5:30. I did a mile warm up, and then 4 800s with a 400 recovery. Then I did a mile cooldown and did my leg weights.

This morning I slept in and didn't care if I was going to run in the heat or not. So after I mowed my grandmas lawn I went on a hilly four mile run around her neighborhood.

PM: Later I went to sugarhouse park for a lightpost workout. I did a mile warm up, a lap of 2 on one off then stopped to get water, then a lap cooldown then a littlebit around the rugby players to get to five.

This afternoon after doing the Ben drama and all of that I finally got my run in. I went from my house, ran down to sugarhouse park, ran into the Highland Track which got me to 1.25, then I did a mile of speed changes, then I did a big grass lap in the park then ran back to my house. I had to add on a little when I got home. But it was a hot run but my legs felt great!. Hopefully they feel this good or better tomorrow!!!

This morning I was racing over at Wheeler Farm. When I got there I met up with Tim and we did a mile warm up. Then we stretched and did strides. They called the 5K runners over to the starting line. Tim and I didn't know where the starting line was but when we found it we got on the line at the front and lined up. They shot the gun and we are off. Tim, me and some other kid got out way fast and took the lead immediately. Tim was breaking away and same with the kid in second place. When we were going around the turn we didn't know where to go so we stopped and waited for the officials to tell us where to go so the fourth place person caught up to us. We were running as a group of three for pretty much the rest of the race.  We went through the big river at Wheeler Farm twice during the race but I went through it three times because we got way lost. Then I caught the third place person and I was running in third for a while. Then when I had about a mile to go I started to feel the orange juice coming up so I slowed the pace to try to keep it down and I did until about the last 200 meters where I had to stop and puke and when I did, I got passed and ended up fourth overall. I would have broken 19 minutes if I didn't have to stop and if I didn't get lost and ran an extra .1 of a mile. It sucks because the top 3 overall got kindles for awards and I didn't get one because I puked:( when I changed my shirt, Tim and I went out and did a two mile cooldown, we would have gone three but they were doing awards and the prize drawings.

This morning I went to XC practice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we met at Liberty park at 7 in the morning. I started with a lap warm up. Then we stretched and got water then heard what the workout is. It was a time trial of a mile and a half mile. We jogged down to the mile start and did 10 strides but I actually think we did 12 but oh well. Then we started with the mile. I did pretty good, I was trying to be conservative on this one. I did 6:04, then we jogged back over to the start and did the 800. On the 800 I just stayed consistent and did a 2:50. Then we jogged back to the drinking fountain and did a lap cooldown and was done. A pretty good, pretty easy workout overall.

Today at workout we did a warm up of going to the gully, doing two laps in the gully warm up then running back to the track. Then we did planks, core, wall sits, and arms. Then we went over and did 12 strides on the grass and three laps cooldown.

Today was the time trial. We did a mile and a half warm up then I went over and stretched for a while and did drills.We lined up and went out. I went out with Tomy and Chris and stuck with them for about a mile then I fell back and Caden passed me. I was with Caden going up the hill when he passed me on the downhill. Then Dakota passed me when we started to go around the pond. Then I was about 10 meters behind them for the next .75 of a mile. Then with about a half mile to go Andy passed me. Going up the final hill I was gaining on Andy but then he kicked like a mother and beat me by like 2 seconds.

This was the first XC meet of the season for me..... But again, I was not allowed to run. I wish I can race!!!! So I ran over to Sugarhouse park and over to the drinking fountain which was about 2.5 miles. Then we jogged a bit around the park cheering on the team racing. Then the "JV" people went over and we did 4 hills over by the highway then we went and did another 4 hills later. Then I cooled down a little over a mile and was done because I needed to cheer people on. I will try to go three more miles tonight after dinner or something.

I just went 3.4 miles from my house to even out my mileage so I only have seven to do tomorrow at pipeline.

This morning I met Bill, Dakota, Caden, Andy, Chris, and Faysal at Shopko and we carpooled up to pipeline. Since I had to leave at 10:15 I couldn't do the whole run but I got four miles in before I had to go. Nice easy run on a trail. Later tonight I will finish out my mileage.

First speed workout of the season.......... Great. So Bill broke the team up into Boys and girls and sent the boys on a long warm up. So we went up to sunnyside and did a lap in there and came back, did a mile of speed changes. Then heard the workout. It was a timed mile, 2 800s, and 4 400s. With recovery of 800 for the mile, and 400 for the 800, then standing equal recovery for the 400s. My times were supposed to be 5:40 for the mile, 2:45 for the 800s and 79-80 on the 400s. So my times went like 6:33, 3:07, 3:05, 85, 81, 80, 79. So on each one I did get faster and I hit my times on the last three 400s but the workout sucked! I don't have the endurance for this workout but I am glad I stuck it out and finished, it was good to see where I am. Then I did a big grass lap and a track to get to seven for the day. I don't know why I didn't hit my times like close at all, maybe a little bit of fitness but most of it is mentally I bet.

Today Emily was the coach again. So we ran up to Sunnyside park, did a lap in the park. Then the workout was 6 800s. I started out with Abigail but that was not on pace for me so I picked it up and got a 2:44. Then I took a 400 recovery. On the second one I got a 2:41 because I started out faster and stuck with Caden and Faysal longer, then took a 400 recovery. Then I went out again with Caden and Faysal and stayed with them the whole time and we got a 2:45. Then a 400 recovery. I sat the next one out and stretched out a bit. Then on my fourth one I got a 2:36 and I stayed with Caden and Faysal the whole time. Took a 400 recovery, ran the rest of the lap around the park with Garek, and then with Sarah S! and Caden I did 2 grass laps cooldown was was done for the day.

This afternoon was the Murray Invitational. I warmed up about a mile then went and stretched with the girls that had already raced there race. All I could think was how rainy and cold it was last year and how sunny and hot it was this year. So after stretching and them calling the JV boys to the start line me, sam, Nate, Anders, Nelson, Maclean, and Ethan all lined up and did about 6 strides and some drills. Maclean said a prayer in arabic that got us all totally pumped!!! So Sam and I were on the front line, they held the gun up and were off! 

I get out extremely fast which is what I wanted to do. I was in the top pack of 20 going into the mile mark or so. Going around the and into the baseball field was a weird change which I didn't like, the surface of the ground was not stable and was too wabbly for my taste. Going through the mile I was just focusing on passing people and not getting passed. By about the mile mark I was thinking wow how havn't I even gone a mile yet!!! But then I realized that my Garmin just beaped so I was at a mile. I went through the mile mark in 5:11! Which was way to fast! So going around in the sand I noticed I was being passed by a ton of people because I slowed down so bad!!!. When I got to the snake, Sam did a speed change to pass people on the hill but I couldn't keep up with that so he passed me and got maybe 10 meters on me. Going through the second mile, my watch said I was at a 8:10 mile! That sucks so much!!!!!!! So I tried to speed up a bit which is were Anders and Nate caught up to me. Going around the soccer field and down that hill Sam gained 50 meters on me and Anders and Nate gained about 20. When we got to the Indian Head I was really trying to push it but that first mile really wiped me out. I was out of gas. My second to third mile was 8:08 though so I did pick it up a bit but still anything slower than a six minute mile sucks!!!!

After the race I went on a cooldown with some of the freshman girls, we went about two miles cheering on the Varsity Boys and the Varsity Girls. We just ran up the course backwards to cheer them on. I then did another half mile with Sarah B trying to find Ben haha

Ran down to Liberty park, went to the drinking fountain, ran back to the other end of the park, and did 8 strides then heard the workout. Varsity was doing a 3 mile tempo run, 2 mile tempo run, then a 1 mile tempo run. I was supposed to hit a 8:10 pace.... Way to slow! So I decided to do a 7:30 pace. For the three mile tempo run, I got a 22:30 so exactly what I needed, then on the two mile I started at the mile and a half mark because I missed the start and had to go to the bathroom but I got 10 minutes. Then on the one mile, it was a bit harder but I got a 7:27 so all were pretty consistent. Then we jogged back up to the track for a cooldown.

AM: for the morning workout today, we did speed. So we did a mile warm up, then a mile speed changes then I ran and went to the bathroom. The workout was a 400x200 chase thing. Where a runner runs a 400 and when they get to about the 220 meter mark, the 200 meter runner goes and tries to catch them. I was partnered with Olivia. I started for the first 400. My time was 74 and Olivia did not catch me, on the 200 I caught Olivia and I got a 34. Next 400 I got a 73 and Olivia did not catch me. I caught her on the next 200 with a 35. My next 2 400s were 75 and 77 and Olivia did not catch me on either of them and my 2 200s were 35 and 35 and I caught olivia on both of those. Then we did a grass lap cooldown and hit the showers.

PM: easy workout before a race, ran up to sunnyside park, did a lap, came back did a lap in lane 8 then a 200 to shake out my legs and I did that in 35 and then a 600 cooldown and a ton of stretching.

Race day, did a mile warm up then stretching and strides. The JV boys ran first so we got to get it done quick. But I started on the front line with Sam and Anders. When the gun went off, I got out decently, fourth place. Going up the first hill I passed one person and was in third then going down the hill a group of like 2 or 3 passed me. Then going up the next hill I passed one or two of them again. Then going acros the bridge I tried to push that because that was scary because it was going to fall any second! But then at the mile mark Sam caught up to me, we went really slow for that first mile, like a 6:19 or something like that. Then going into the second lap I passed one person going up the hill, but then going down the hill a group of like 5 passed me and gapped me. Then with about 200 meters to go Anders caught me and outkicked me. Then I did a mile and a half cooldown. Then the boys went and did another mile, then we did hills and strides.

This afternoon/morning was the BYU Invitational. So I got to the race with 5 hours til I raced so I went and cheered in the shade for a few hours then with like 3 hours till my race I went and set up a bed and tried to go to sleep.... That didn't workout. But With an hour till the Varsity Boys race, I went on a warm up with Tomy, Anders, Dylan, and Faysal. We went out 1.1 miles and came back. When I got back I felt like I was going to puke so hard!!!!! Like it was to the point that I was thinking of telling Bill that I was not going to race. But I stretched a lot, had my mom pour cold water on me and then I put my spikes on and headed over to the starting line. I did about 6 strides then they lined us up, shot the gun, had a false start, shot the gun again and had another false start, then the third time we were off! So I decided to just run this, not push becuase I felt really really sick! So I did not start out fast at all, going into the mile I went through at like 7:06 or something. Then after that mile I started to feel a lot better so I picked up the pace a bit and ran a 6:20 and was feeling great! Then with the last mile to go as soon as I got into the baseball field I started to pick up the pace and I did a 6:30 third mile and averaged a 6:34, not bad for feeling like I was going to puke the whole race!

At the two mile mark I noticed the people in front of me were really slowing down so I just worked on the person in front of me and kept passing people, I just kept passing them and then working on the group in front of me. It really helps when you have someone to push to. Anders did beat me but he got ahead of me in the first mile and was so far ahead of me that I could not pass him.

I did not beat my time from last year which is a bummer, but if I pushed today I know I could have because as soon as I crossed the finish line, sure I was hot but I was not tired at all. That race just felt like I was going at a tempo pace. It felt like just a tempo run. So I know, not to feel sick before a race because I need to push my last few cross country races I have left in high school. One good thing did come out of this race though, I lettered today which is good. Now I can just focus on time, not place.

Ran from the track, across 1300 east to the park on South temple, did 20 400 meter strides up the hill then came back so it was about a 400 stride for 200 recover for 200. Then we jogged up and got water and then ran down to R Street. Strided up 1 block over one block strided up over until we got to Virginia street. Then we took the Shriners run back. I ran with Sam, Nate, and Anders and we were pushing the pace. On the way back from shriners, we were averaging a 6:01 pace

AM: Ran up sunnyside to foothill, over to the cemetery on like 5th south or something, did 2 laps of firemen in the cemetery with just me, caden and Olivia... It was a lot of sprinting then we got kicked out so we couldn't do the third lap.

PM: Easy light speed workout. Started with a mile warm up, mile speed changes, then stretching circle then heard the workout. My legs were so sore from this morning so the stretching was a good thing. But we did a timed mile. I wanted a 6:10 so just about race pace and I got a 6:01 so that was good. Then we went up to sunnyside and did a lap and came back. Easy afternoon workout. After we got back, we took a 15 minute ice bath.

Mile and a half warm up when we arrived at the race. Then took a potty break and put my spikes on and then we to the line. They allowed three people on the line at Cottonwood Complex, where the race was held so me, sam and anders all got on the line. We did like 8 strides, tried to stretch out my incredibly sore calves, which did not work, then lined us up shot the gun and we were off.

I got out really slow for the first mile, I went through in like a 6:40 and I wanted a lot faster than that. But I felt good through this race and kept passing people which was good and I outkicked a lot of people. The last mile I really tried to pick up the pace and get going. If the race was longer I would have done better but I liked this race. It was a lot easier than Pre-Regions! So now I know I can really start pushing the races because I know I can push that course hard and not feel like I was even pushing!

Then I did a 2.5 mile cooldown cheering people on throughout the course.

Today is my first day back running since that horrible day at REGIONS!!! So I ran down to sugarhouse park and decided to go to Larry's and Tim's workout because I have not ran with them for a long time. So I did a mile warm up, stretched, did another half mile on the track with Tim then heard the workout. Since Tim has a half marathon this weekend all we did was strides. We did 6x100 meter strides then 4 400s at 80 pace so strides with 20 seconds of recovery for all the strides. Then I did a half mile cooldown. On the first one I felt fine, and hit an 80, second felt ok also and I hit a 79, on the third and fourth I was tired and hit for both a 78. Not running for a week really makes you tired!

Today I ran down to Sugarhouse park met up with Larry and Aubrey. We all did a workout similar to yesterdays but faster. So I did 6 strides again then 4 400s chasing Larry. Larry started 20 seconds ahead of me and I was to chase him down! So my times went 76, 77, 75, 74 so they all pretty much got faster and I caught Larry on every one! My speed is coming back faster than I thought it would! I did a half mile cooldown on the track. No hard workouts yet because I am being cautious with my achilles.

I went to Bills workout again. We started with a mile warm up, mile of speed changes then stretching until everyone finished everything. The workout was 1 800 then 4x400. So on the 800 I went out fast but it did not feel fast to me, went through the 400 in 70 then got a 2:35 and finished 5th or 6th overall from the team. Bill said sprint all of these! Then we did a lap recovery then started the 400s. Again on this one I went out well and finished same place as last time and got a 71. Then as they went on, my lack of running for the past week was catching up to me, they progressively were getting slower and I was getting farther back in the pack. My times went like 73, 75 and 78. On that last one I about died! Abigail caught up to me and I just could not match her move! Then we "ran" a mile cooldown with Caden, Katelyn, and Odelia.

After finding out horrible news, I decided to go and do a quick workout before the NHS thing tonight. So I did a half mile war up, 2x100 meter strides, then heard the workout. It was 200 with 200 recovery, 300 with 100 recovery, then 400 with 100 recovery. We did this 3 times. I only did the first set because I had to go to NHS then to the hospital for the rest of the night.

Mile and a half warm up, then a mile of J's. Then Kai and I stretched and heard the workout. We did 2 200s with 200 recovery at the 500 pace so I was to hit 36 on the 200s. I hit 31 and 30. Then the workout was 3 500s. My times went like this, 90, 95, 93. Then we cooled down to 6.5

Bills workout, ran over to Sugarhouse park. 4 of the Poker hills that are 400 meters long with equal recovery then jogged back to east.

Mile warm up and a mile of speed changes. Then the workout was 2 200s, 400, mile, 800 and 4 400s. I felt really good on the 200s and 400 then in the mile I felt the pumpkin pie I ate during 4th period. So my times went like 32, 32, 70, 6:30, 3:00 and I didnt do the 4 400s because I was going to puke any second.

Half mile warm up on the track then a mile of J's. I went out onto the road for the workout. It was 4x100 meter lightpost with equal recovery then 4x200 with equal recovery then 4x100 with equal recovery then I cooled down till I got to 6 at Sugarhouse park.

Mile warm up then a half mile of J's for my warm up then I stretched. The workout was 5x300 at striding pace to open up the legs, 5x200 pace at a bit faster pace then an all out sprint for the 400. My times were all at 75 second 400 pace on the 300s and at 35 on the 200s then my 400 was slow at 69. I had 200 recovery after each 200 and I did an 800 recovery after the 300s. Then I cooled down until 6 miles. There was a lot of people there, Larry, Me, Tim, Andrea and Aubrey for a little while.

I went to Bills workout today and it was absolutely horrible! We ran down to Liberty, to the drinking fountain, did like 12 strides then heard the workout. It was 6 800s at like race pace...... I was in a group with Abigail, Caden, Andy, and Dakota and we were supposed to hit a 2:50. On the first one Me, Caden and Dakota broke away and we hit 2:46, then we turned around and ran to the start so we had equal recovery. My next one we went faster at a 2:44, then I was about to puke so I was told to sit out and jump in on the next one so I did.. On my third we ran a 2:49 then I ran to the bathroom and blew chunks all over that stall....... SORRY!!! Then I jumped in on the 6th one so my fourth one and Caden and I ran 2:46 so all faster than we were supposed to hit and all were pretty consistent. Then for cooldown Caden, Andy and I "jogged" back up to the track.

This afternoon I was CRAZY sore from the workout yesterday so I did a shakeout run, and strides to loosen up. So I did a mile warm up around Highlands track going the opposite direction then Larry got there. So I did 8x200 meter strides to loosen up even more, then I paced him in an 800 and cooled down until I got to 3. I will run tomorrow morning because I need more miles.
