Today was the BYU Invitational over at the BYU Track. So when we got there I was wearing my snap up pants so I got to rip them off for the first time.... It was EPIC!!!!!!!!!! So then it was about 40 minutes until my race. So I go on a 1.5 mile warm up with Nelson. We just went .75 out and back the same way. Then when we got back we ran over to the stuff and got our spikes on. Then we headed over to the starting line. But then the officials were a bit behind so we were at the starting line for like 20-25 minutes. So in that time I did 6 strides and I stretched a ton with dynamic stretching. So finally they tell us to line up so Tomy, Me, and Dylan were on the front  line. The gun goes off and Emily said to go out fast and that is what all three of us did. We all were in the top 20 for the first half mile. Then Dylan and I start to slow down. So we go around the track at 6:01. When we get around the track its the one mile mark. So my first mile was 6:01. My goal for the day was to break 19 minutes by the 3 mile mark So I do another lap around the grass and come onto the track, I look at the clock and it said 12:47 so I was roughly 7 seconds behind what I needed to be to break my goal, so on the hill coming off of the track I pushed it until I got to the baseball field. By the time I got there I was dead. I used the baseball as a recovery thing still passing people and working my way up the pack. So when I get out of the baseball field I start picking up the pace. When we have about a 400 meter to go I start progressively picking up the pace. When I hit the track Bill and Emily both are yelling at me to do a fast 300 but I couldn't get my legs going that fast that soon on the track so as soon as I have about 250 meters to go I really pick up the pace. When I hit the 3 mile mark I was at 19:12 exactly so I was 12 seconds behind what I wanted but I did PR today. I slowed down a little coming around the final curve because I was starting to feel sick and all I could remember was last year the last 100 meters puking everywhere. But when I had about 75 meters to go I just gave it all and kicked with everything I had left. I finished the race with a time of 19:45.8. I was exactly .8 of a second behind Voung so if I hadn't slowed down out of fear I would have beaten him:( So my finish for my race was really disappointing but the rest of the race I was happy about. I just need to really work on pushing through when I feel sick. Then after the race I got a ton of gatorade and cooled down 3 miles while Cheering for the JV Girls, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys races. Here is my Garmin Connect:
