Personal:

Married with 2 lively boys. I love running and I love getting faster. Just trying to figure out how to balance life between being a mother, wife, part time nurse, and runner. :)

When I was in 6th grade I filled out a Getting to Know You sheet. Under nicknames I wrote, "My brothers call me Boo Legs, I think its because I run fast." (It really came from the movie, Strange Brew) And its been my family nickname ever since.

Treadmill miles again at the gym. I was glued to CNN watching the Boston Terror reports. Still so sick about it. Hoping everyone associated with it is doing well.

Probably time to retire the brooks summons, I'm up to about 430 miles. Felt achy on the run today and I think that's why.

Maybe you are more achy because of 2nd life; then again, it could be the shoes. 430 miles doesn't seem excessive.

True, true. I guess turning food into a human can certainly take its toll on the body and the joints.

I've always heard to switch out your shoes between 300-500 miles. (But I'm usually a cheaper chicken and don't do it until I get above 500.) When do you usually switch out?

Shoe manufacturers would love everyone to switch shoes at 300-500 miles, that way they sell more.

I think for new runners, it can make a difference, but more experienced, consistent, year round runners it matters less. Your joints, ligaments, connective tissues, etc...become adapted to the pounding, and shoes matter less.
