I decided to go support the city, that never supports me, today and run their Step Rock 5k.  Macy was there so I had no pressure to run my guts out or my hip flexor off.  I just ran for fun.  I was 19:42 (6:15 ave) first in the age, and 4th over all.  Problem was is it wasn't that fun.  Just like anything Herriman City puts on the race, course, and everything about it was very poorly put on.  Also, I don't like running as a normal, semi over weight, out of shape guys.  That is not me.  I long to get healthy enough to get back into my old form in the near future.  First thing like this I have done since I won the Holiday Heroes 5k in November 2009 the week before I tore my psoas up.  Progress at the least.  I warmed up with Connor, Chuk, and Rory, and cooled down tow miles with Macy.  Chuk won the 10k and Macy won the 5k.

Nice finish at the 5K! I usually love to run this race (small races like I this I can usually take some hardware home - if Kelli does a different length), but they moved it up a couple weeks and I got cheated out of my home-town run. However, sounds like, as usual, I didn't miss much.

I do have a question for you about your hip flexor. I've been battling my iliopsoas for about a month now and am sick of it! Normal stretches and strengthening for it are constantly being done, but it still lingers. Is this the same pain you've been dealing with? Sometimes the most annoying thing for me is the pain as I try to roll over in bed. Maneuvering my hips as I roll from one side to the other is difficult. Any good suggestions?

It has been a year and a half for me since I tore mine up. It seems to take a long time! My biggest problem isn't pain as much now as that whole part of my body gets so tight and locks up. I do a lot of exercises and stretches for that specific area (psoas, hip flexors, groin, sartorious, etc.) and foam roll. I would suggest getting a massage and get it released too. Also a good chiropractor can help realign your hips and break up any scar tissue. Doctor Day at Day One Chiropractic in Riverton is the best one around these parts. You don't want to end up like me.
