Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

47:47 with 11:14 pace. Got some bad news just before the run. That is the only reason I can think of that I ran so poorly. 11:48, 10:51, 11:09, and 11:07 with 2:51 fo finish. HR 169 with max of 192.

42:05, with 10:16 pace. 11:21, 10:50, 9:34, 9:25 with 53 sec to finish. HR 120 with max of 146. I thought I could do better but I just didn’t have it.

49:19 with9:40 pace. HR 127 with 149 max. 9:50, 9:19, 9:42, 9:44, and 9:50 with 54 sec to finish. Neighborhood run. I sped up every 5 min but this time I tried to keep the pace longer than One minute.

53:22 with 10:28 pace. Different course, have only run here once or twice. First 1.5 is up, then mostly flat with a little up to 3 miles. I wasn’t feeling it today. HR 121 with 143 max. 10:55, 10:33, 10:46, 9:55, and 10:07 with 1:05 to finish. I was going to go 6.2 today, but I got nauseous just before 5 so I decided to stop and walk. After one mile the side of the road is large gravel and not conducive to running, especially because parts are also muddy right now.
