My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59. Short-Term Running Goals: I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon. Long-Term Running Goals: Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year. Personal: I have been an educator for 32 years. | 3:31:44 10:32 overall pace. Felt pretty good until after 15. Ran 9:32, 9:59, 9:45, 9:52, 8:58, 9:26, 10:01, 10:13, 10:05, 9:41, 10:07, 10:02, 10:30, 10:34, 10:40, 11:46, 11:50, 12:29, 12:25, and 12:22. I tried to run a fast mile every 5th mile. That worked for mile 5 and 10. At mile 11.5 a head wind picked up. That and the hills took it out of me. My time at 18 miles beat my last two 18 mile times. My overall pace today was over a minute faster than my last two 20 mile runs before my last marathon. I walked a half mile up the hill to the house after the run. That took 17 minutes. |

| Was feeling even worse Thursday but worked until 4 pm. Friday I stayed home sick and was able to get an antibiotic. still feeling poorly Ran on treadmill. 39:07 overall, 9:45 average. Ran first two at 10 min pace. Mile 3 at 9:13 pace. Each quarter of 4th mile 9:22, 9:31, 9:40, and 9:50 paces. Waited 2.5 hours. Treadmill 46:43 overall, 9:19 average. 10 min warmup then 9:13, 8:34, 8:52, and 9:31 to end. Started at 6:20 Treadmill 57:08 overall with 9:28 pace. First two miles at 9:40 pace. Mile 3 at 8:34. Mile 4 at 9:13 Mile 5 at 9:40 and mile 6 at 9:50 pace. Running helped me feel better today. I got other stuff done as well. I had planned to do 3-6 more miles but decided against it because i was not able to do my runs 90 minutes apart as I had planned. |
