| | AM I have never been so disappointed that I did not finish a run in a very long time! Set out at 3 am and I knew it was going to be a tough run but not that bad as it was 13* and the winds was at 22mph which mad it 2*. I had planned to run 28 miles on a back to back run with yesterday run of 23 miles butthings changed. At mile 3 I went to get a drink from my pack and could tell the hose was getting restricted and the water was getting cold on my back and by mile 4.5 I went to take another drink and the hose was solid and no drink was going to happen, so I finished up a 9 mile loop and yes it was cold heading into the wind and got back to the truck and turned the heat on and got the hose freed and set out again and to have it happen again by mile 11 and ust finished a loop I started and called it quits. Very disappointed as I felt good but just not ment to be
|
Hoka Clifton Blue Miles: 12.38 |
| |
| | AM Cold but the wind was not bad. This training block has been tough as I am only 3 1/2 weeks out from my next 100 miler. Cold temps and hard to get warmed up at the start of almost all my runs but it is what it is and will alway do my best
|

| | AM OK that was the last run this week until Fridays 100 miles, I felt great and no aches or pain anywhere and very happy with that. You never know how training is going to go when training for that distance and you just hope for the best, this training block has been tough with the cold temps but was able to stay outside and only did 1 run on the TM all winter long. I feel I am ready and have done the work to get there and just hope for the best. Tryed some more new gear and loaded it the way I would during the race and I like it alot and will use it on Friday.

| Race: |
Buffalo Run 100 miles (100 Miles) 21:08:50, Place overall: 10, Place in age division: 2 | | Very Very happy with the race! The race started at noon on Friday and started a pretty good and long climb right away. Got to mile 8 and it finally had a down hill section and was able to open up on a nice 1.75 mile down hill before getting into another climb with switch backs, getting warm now but had a nice breeze to cool things off. Got back to more down hills and a return back to the start and now at mile 19 and felt very good, refill the hydration pack and out on a 25 mile out and back section. Just trying to stay at anice relaxed pace and was hanging out with Lyndsie (Female winner) and Altra sponsored distance runner for most all of this section. some what flat and encountered alot of pissed off buffalo. Got to the aid station at mile 38 and had planned on changing into some warmer clothes but was ahead of my goal time and went on to the next drop bag section and the 50 mile mark before getting into my base there. Got to the half and I felt ok but it had taken me a little longer to get out of this station but was ok as I made sure I had some broth and a cup of coffee before I set out on into the darkness to do it all over again. The climb went good but the switch backs slowed now and walked portions of it and the down hills are now slower and just settled into the grind of the race. Got back to the next drop bag and got a few things out and onto the next out and back section and was able to run into some fellow runner and to take a count on what place I was in at this time which I think I was in 9th spot. Got lazy on my form and fell hard around mile 65 and ripped a hole in my elbow and again at mile 75 and banged up my ankle. Pace was slowing some but was very happy with how I was feeling as my hydration and all was going much better then the first 100. I could start to see the sun rise starting to rise and put me into a better mood and I was starting to see the trail much better. Now at mile 90 and was feeling happy and things felt very tired but almost done, but I know the last 5 mile had some very rough trails and was just hopping the legs were going to hold up over the last section of the run and they did great. Finished strong and very happy I was done 21:08:50 - 10th OA and 2 AG
| |

| | AM Set out early this morning. and on my way to the river I got stopped by IFPD because I went around a slow moving van on Broadway without my turn signal, had to stop at a red light and looked in my rear views to see who was pulling behind me and sat at the green light to long, he turned on his lights and I freaked out and turned and parked the wrong way on a one way street and said to my self you ass what the hell did you just do and it is to late to put on my seat belt now also. He walks up to the door and said do you know why I am stopping you, I said I think so and he said I am stopping you for aggressive driving, no turn signal, setting at a green arrow to long, turnning the wrong way on a one way, no seat belt, and asked for my DL and had to tell him I did not have it also as I left my wallet at home. (Oh Sh_t) He then shines the flashlight in my eyes and said hey you work at Bills Bike and Run and I looked up at him and said oh hey you were in the store the other day and I sold you a bike and asked him how he liked his bike, he said good and told me to be more careful next time and let me go. Got lucky this morning !!!!!!!!!!!

River Of No Return 108K (68.8 Miles) 16:15:51, Place overall: 20, Place in age division: 1 | | What an awesome but hard trail race this was, got started on time at 5 am and just started out at a nice and easy pace as I had ran this race last year and there was big hill climbs starting at mile 4 mad it up the 1st hill at a run walk pace and headed down to the first aid station and had to turn around and climb back up for a few mils and the the biggest hill of all was up to Keystone Mtn. Got over that one and had passed alot of runners on that section and felt strong running strong on the back side of the hill. Hydration and nutrition was going well and was able to hold a good pace and even ran up some of the smaller hills. Got into Squaw Creek A.S. and asked how many runners had droped going over Keystone and they said alot at around 10 to 12 at that time. From Squaw Creek to Buster Lake was all up hill and had to keep my focus. So happy to get to Buster Lake and was all down hill from there, pace alittle slower as the quads were getting tender now. Seen my wife with 5 miles left and gave me some great energy and felt great going into the finish. Got something to eat and a cold beer and talked with other runners and Gray and Paul and went to bed. Finishe in 20th OA and 1st in AG

Kelly Canyon Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:43:01, Place overall: 22, Place in age division: 1 | | Early in the week I decided to do my traing run of 24 miles running up to the start of the Kelly Canyon Half and the race back down to the finish with my friends. I had a ton of fun!! Set out at 5am as I needed more time to get out there as there is a long 3.5 mile hill, I felt very good going out and even stronger running up the hill as I felt all the hill training and things are working very good. Got to the start of the race and talked with Gray about how we were going to run the race and I felt even tho I just ran 13.1 I felt like I was able to race back down to the finish. Got a little chilled waiting for the race to start but once it did get started I warmed up in a hurry. Running the down hill was fun and fast and got to the bottom and just wanted to get into a nice and very even splits for the remainder of the race. It went very well and I was surprised how well I felt at a faster pace as I have not been fast much due to all the trail running I have been doing. I felt like the last 2 miles I was able to pick up the pace even more and finished strong. 1:43:01 22 OA and 1AG (50-59)

Standhope Ultra challenge (39.5 Miles) 10:32:44, Place overall: 37, Place in age division: 4 | | Parked the camper at the finish line and got on the shuttle bus at 3:45am to the start line, meet up with Jeremy and alot of other friends there as we all gathered around the nice camp fire that they had going for us. Race got started on a cool but awesome morning and were already heading up hill as this was going to be the case for the whole race, eather up or down. Standhope has 3 Mtn. and each one gets higher and mor difficult with the 3rd one at 11,000 feet. I did alot of hills in my training but there was only so many hills in a race before it takes a big toll on you legs and that was the case as I was climbing up to the summit but was very nice to head down hill frome there. It was a good race but hard, not the outcome or time that I wanted but I am happy with how it went. Started 42 and finished 37 and 4 in AG
