Ran 2 miles up the river trail. Oh my, the river trail is so beautiful right now. So beautiful. Amazing. Anyway, then 2 miles back down. About a quarter mile from home a dog came after me, and I hosed it with my pepper spray. It turned around and ran. I felt kind of bad, but it was not stopping and snarling its teeth at me. I let it get about 3 ft from me before I sprayed him. I don't like doing that, but I had no choice. I am not going to let myself get bit. ahhh well.

Look at the Trail!!!!!!!!!!

I bet that dog won't get lippy with another runner. :) Nice one! Gorgeous trail pics. Love this time of year.

Glad you were "armed". This blog entry could have been a lot different otherwise. Great pics!

I'm glad you had pepper spray, and that the wind wasn't blowing! Where were the owners?!

Those are some amazing pics, looks like a nice run.

What kind of pepper spray do you have? Is it a stream or a cone spray pattern? How quickly did it work after hitting the dog? Sorry for all the questions, I also carry pepper spray but I've never used it on a dog. I'm unsure if I have the right stuff and how that situation will work if I must spray one.

Ken it sprays in a stream pretty far. Probably 6 ft out. I got him in the eye. And he immediately stopped and turned around and ran back to his yard.

I hate to admit, but I am laughing over here about it. I felt bad but it was kind of funny to see how it worked in the daylight. I've used it 2 other times, but in the dark. I couldn't see a thing.

I'm glad it has worked for you, I should probably test fire mine to see how it works. I've been attacked by dogs a few times. I've learned my lesson.

I've had to use my.spray in the west fields. On scary farm dogs.
