I got up at 3:45 this morning to meet my crazy running friends at Cheris' house to carpool to the race.  The race started late.  I knew it was going to be a hot one and I don't do well in the heat.  I tried to hold back a little at the start.  I'm not sure if that helped or hurt me.  My sister Angela and I passed each other back and forth up until mile 10 when she took off.  I almost caught up to her at the end.  We finished about 5 seconds apart.  I was hoping to get in the 1:34's but I just couldn't do it.  I felt pretty strong the whole race although I did have some stomach issues.  My splits according to the white mile markers were  7:15, 7:14, 13:45 (for 3 & 4), 7:23, 7:12, 7:15, 7:14, 7:28, 7:11, 8:09, 7:27, 8:15, and 7:15.

Overall it was a great race.  I was hoping for a PR but I couldn't pull it off in the heat.  I will be doing some running in the heat before St. George for sure.  It was fun to see and talk to so many friends.  Thanks Kelli for coming out and cheering us on.  You're awesome.

I was happy to be cheering you all on and sad that I could not jump out there with you! And, you did great as always. I am sure the heat was a major factor today, I was glad to have a piece of shade the entire time!

We were really close weren't we? what were you wearing? I was probably looking at the back of your head for sometime. :) Great job. Especially for the heat!

You are so strong! Again you ran a great race. Can't wait to see you run SGM. Unfortunately, I agree with you that we need to get some heat training in.

Great Race Julie! You are so fast, and from what I hear that heat really was a killer...blame the late start! :) Keep up that great work!

hi, nice run Jules. Did we meet at the end? Peggy introduced me to some fellow bloggers and I was so "not there" that I don't remember who anyone was. Sorry if I wasn't happily greeting you.

Way to run a good race. It's always fun to be around you and Angela. You're probably right about getting some heat training for St. George, but I'm not looking forward to it!

Great job on the race. The heat was not fun.
