AM - 8 miles at Jeremy Ranch w/ Andrea and Roo. Another couple told us they saw a mountain lion up on the hillside... I'm glad the big cat didn't think Andrea or Roo was worth eating, because I didn't want to have to kill it with my bare hands.

AM - 4 miles w/ Roo.

PM - 4 miles w/ Andrea. We decided to run a mile hard on the tempo loop for our WOD, and somehow I pulled off a 4:47, in trainers and long shorts. I thought I might be able to break 5, but this surprised me. That's probably the fastest single mile I've run in at least two years. I don't want to jinx myself, but lately I have been feeling a lot better.

PM - 10 miles on the Pipeline trail w/ Andrea to celebrate one year post surgery #2 and six months of running. I've run with her for roughly 97% of her miles during that time span, and its been cool to see her go from almost passing out from heat exhaustion after the first two-miler in Mexico to looking smooth and strong again over the course of the spring/summer.

AM - 12 miles at Jeremy Ranch w/ Rob and his team. Had a good time and got to run with pretty much everyone who was there at one point or another.

PM - 5 miles. Did a faster lap around the horsepark (5:52, not sure I've ever run a horsepark loop fast before) and then up/down Murphy Lane hill at a hard effort.

Whew, biggest mileage day since March!

PM2 - 3 miles on the Wasatch Crest Trail from Guardsman Pass.

AM - 11 miles w/ Andrea. Big loop around the park - Raven Roll + Crossroads + Whiptail + Twisted Tree + Prickly Pear + Pyramid.

PM - Short bike ride for an ice cream cone.

A fantastic day bookended by a perfect sunrise / sunset. Especially sunrise.

AM - 10 miles w/ Andrea. Similar to yesterday... another big loop around the park - Pyramid + Big Chief + Crossroads + Prickly Pear + Raven Roll. 

PM - Mountain biking on the trails just off Hwy 313 - Ramblin and Rocky Tops. This loop was a blue-black, which is about the top end of my mountain biking ability. Type 1.5 fun.

We had a weekend that exceeded expectations at Dead Horse Point State Park. The new yurts are downright luxurious and perfectly situated at a junction along the Intrepid trail system. The "bike" trails in the park are probably our (new) favorites for running in the entire Moab area. It's all flowy singletrack (mostly dirt with slickrock mixed in) and every trail is well-defined and runnable. You can do loops from 3 to 14+ miles. Fantastic views up along the plateau towards Arches, Canyonlands, etc. I think we will be repeating this trip annually.

I'll post a few more photos in a couple days. I have some better ones.

Bike commute (half). New bike stolen. This is not a good trend (two bikes jacked in four weeks). But in the grand scheme of things, hardly the end of the world. I can't really get mad about anything right now...

PM - 4 miles. Did a hard 2-mile at SHP in 10:33 (5:15, 5:18, NE corner start). I've been doing good with 5 minutes of fast running, but doubling that up was tough!

AM - 14 miles. Ran w/ Rob and his team at Jeremy Ranch - out to Mormon Flats and then mixed it up by doing 6 miles on the Mormon Pony Trail in the middle. Nice morning. We saw a moose family!

PM - 6 miles.

Took the longer way home from Park City via BCC and wandered around Empire Pass for a while to soak in some sunshine / fall colors...

AM - Climbed the South Ridge of Mt Superior w/ Amiee (her idea, and a great one). This was super fun - 3000 feet of scrambling on exposed but solid rock. While I enjoyed babbling on and on about all the ski lines we could see from the summit, I'm actually rooting for a little more Indian Summer so we can take Andrea up this route before El Nino hits.

Fall colors are peaking in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Orange is stealing the show.

Superior is my favorite mountain in Utah. The 360 view from the top can't be beat in the Wasatch. I've skied the South Face / North Side and Suicide Chute, so I'm happy to have finally done another iconic route on this beautiful beast.
