Basketball this morning, then an easy 3 miles around La Verkin this evening.  My hip and PF have been bothering me some this week, not a good thing since the marathon is coming up Saturday.

Ran over to the high school and then back home.  Once again hip and PF hurting, but loosened up a little after about 2 miles, pace was slow.

No run, played two softball games, no injuries feeling ready for Saturday hopefully.  A little concerned about the PF.

La Verkin Loop this morning, just an easy 3 miles, then did a 10 minute ice bath when I got home.  Weight is at 157, so using my formula that puts me in the 2:57 marathon range, which is about the shape I feel in right now, so we will see.

Well, this race didn't turn out like I was hoping.  My training has been better than last year at this time and I really figured I could at least break 3 hours.  I didn't feel very good when I got up and felt even worse after I had some oatmeal for breakfast and a bananna.  I met up with everyone and caught the bus up to the start.  I didn't feel very good on the ride up, and was a little concerned about the stomach issues.  Everything else felt ok, not great though.  PF and hip pain still bothering.

1-7:17- slow start, but that was ok

2-6:28

3-6:33

4-7:07 bathroom stop

5-6:21

6-6:28- feeling like I'm getting into a good rhythm

7-6:37

8-7:10 some uphill here

9-7:17 more uphill, stopped to throw-up

10-6:47

11-6:35

12-6:55- PF starting to act up

13-6:49

Half 1:29

14-6:59

15-7:46- more stomach issues

16-7:08

17-7:19

18-7:19

19-9:12- another stop to throw up, too bad nothing in the stomach

20-7:15

21-7:45

22-8:43- struggling..struggling

23-10:42- some power walking with over-weight half marathon women finishers

24-13:06- still struggling..stop again to puke, and sat down to stretch for a bit

25-8:55 decide to try to push through the pain

26-7:37 gave myself a pep talk and ran a little better this last mile.

.2- :32

I was happy with the first half and a few of the miles down the canyon.  I fell apart pretty bad around mile 21, but was able to make it to the finish.

I've really been struggling with marathons the last few years.  I have lots of doubts and really need to do something to boost my confidence, (maybe training more might help.)  I would really like to improve my PR at the half marathon distance, so that might be more of my focus for the near future.

After the race, I was still feeling pretty sick.  I ended up vomiting 4 more times at the race and then a few more times back at the hotel.  I was a little concerned the last time, because it looked like some blood coming up.  Anyway, my dad and brother in law gave me a blessing which I was grateful for.  I slept most of the way home, and seem to be feeling better now.  I was able to eat some some soup and a little bit of chicken and things are starting to feel a little better.

Anyway, to wrap things up.  Still a fun weekend.  It was nice to spend some time with my parents and my sister and her family.  She did great for her second marathon 4:25.  I was also happy to see a lot of the guys from the race team and blog run good races.

This is a nice course, but I'm not sure I will be back next year for the full, maybe the half.
