Finally a half way decent day of running. I spent much of the weekend on the road traveling. I got back this afternoon from a conference in Salt Lake and went out and did a 7 mile run over to Hurricane and back 54:00 for a 7:42 average. I've been feeling a little sick with allergies or something. Anyway stuffed up nose still bothering on the run, the calf is starting to feel a little better probably 80%, so hopefully I can get back to some more serious training. I've gained a few extra pounds and feel a little out of shape. I got home from the first run and watched the first half of the Jazz game, then went and did 2 easy miles with Sunny and Jarren in the stroller during half time up to the fire hydrant and back.

Good run this afternoon, even though it was pretty warm when I started at 3:30. I think it was close to 80.

Anyway Sunny drove me out to Anderson Junction and I did a two mile warm-up (average 7:26) then I decided I would try a 4 mile tempo run, just to see how much fitness I've lost since being slowed down with this calf injury the last month.

The last time I did this workout was on Feb 2, and my splits went

1-6:15

2-6:24

3-6:16

4-5:53

24:50 overall with a 6:13 average

Today I was pretty happy with my splits considering the heat, coming off an injury, and dealing with a headwind

1-5:53

2-6:10 was ready to stop here, but figured I could go one more mile

3- 6:23 actually felt better right at the end so decided to finish and do one more mile

4-5:55

24:22 overall 6:06 average

Two miles easy home.

Overall good workout and nice to see where I'm at. I still have a long way to go. I wish I could have avoided the calf injury and been in better shape and preparing for the Ogden Marathon, however I think I will just have to focus on the Deseret News Marathon.

Hooray I woke up this morning and actually got up and did a morning run. Actually I was still sleeping through the first two miles. I woke up when I got close to the stake center when I realized I needed to make a pit stop. I find it ironic that I felt tempted to not enter the stake center. You see this is the time and place where people would be playing basketball, which I'm supposed to be avoiding. Anyway, after I finished up in the bathroom I poked my head in the gym and of course they had just finished a game and were playing 4 on 5, so I had to stay and play one game. Played to 22 and I scored 7 pts, not bad considering the 4 week layoff. Anyway after one game, a guy had to leave so I thought it would be a good time for me to take off also. Ran one more easy mile home.

Tonight I paced Sunny on our La Verkin 5K loop, she improved her time and ran 29:00 flat exact, but she can give you the details. I just ran along side pushing Jarren in the stroller. Both last night and tonight he has fallen asleep while in the stroller, so apparently he doesn't mind going for the run. After we got home, I went by myself and ran another 2 miles up past the bridge and back.

Nimbus- 129.5- Not as much blister problems tonight.

2 miles with Steve before running club.  Then real easy 7 miles with the running club.  Bill and Aaron took off, but Steve and I hang back with a new guy Dale, who was running a slower pace.  After 3 miles Steve started a tempo run and I continued on with Dale.  Overall the pace was slower than I wanted to go, but it was still nice meeting someone new and running with them.

Cumulus- 9 I got a new pair of Cumulus, so I guess I can retire my old red ones.  I've really liked this shoe, the last pair I got 415 miles and could probably go a little more if needed.

Did a good job watching my diet today

Breakfast: Oatmeal

Lunch- Burrito, Gatorade

Snack- Banana, Bottle of Water

Dinner- Chicken and Rice

Snack- Nachos during the Jazz game.

Longest run I've done since before the St. George Marathon last fall. Steve, Bill, Ken and Sasha did a loop out on Snow Canyon Parkway, through Ivins and Kayenta, then back on the highway through Santa Clara. I was a little concerned in the beginning as Bill kept pushing the pace. I was really hoping for a slower, easier pace but I managed to stay with the group for most of the run. I did the first 16 1:54:13 for a 7:08 average. The last two miles I took it really easy, as I was beginning to cramp up a little bit. I think my body was wondering what was going on, since I hadn't run that far in quite some time.

1-7:45

2-7:00

3-6:57

4-7:11

5-6:58

6-6:48

7-7:23- Had a little hill climb here and part of mile 8 as I remember

8-7:30

9-7:06

10-6:45

11-6:36

12-6:59

13-6:51

14-6:40

15-7:37 Hard to get going again after stopping for water

16-7:57

Last two miles up Sunset very slow and easy.

Overall pretty pleased I made myself come over and run with the club and I forced myself to go as far as I did.

I only need 2 more miles today for me to meet my goal of 60 for the week. Which I'm feeling good about considering where my training has been the last few weeks with the calf injury.

Cumulus-27 Really liking these shoes so far

Went out and did another easy 2 miles (bridge and back), legs and hips pretty sore from the run this morning.
