6 mile run this morning. I did 2.5 up to the golf course and then 1 mile of barefoot w/ a couple strides mixed in, then I came home the same way. I felt good overall. The hamstring was kind of pesky but I've come to the grim reality that it's going to hurt on Saturday... just how much it will affect me is the question. Other than that the horses where chomping at the bit today. I tried to just go slow but kept finding myself at 6:20-30 pace then I'd back down to around 7 until I'd speed up again.

I've ran a couple TOU Marathons with sore/tight hammies, due to running the Peruvian Dash the week before. Those years were actually my fastest TOU times. Just coincidence, but the point is not to let it bother you. A year's worth of strong training will overcome some race-day muscle tightness. Another example: last year my calf locked up at St. George with about 10 miles left. Didn't slow me down, but it just hurt more! Believe in your fitness and gut through any discomfort.

Good luck on Saturday!

Thanks Paul. Like you said I just need to believe in my fitness and have the guts to push through. I guess that is why we race to see what kind of guts we've got. I was reading your race report from last year and was again blown away with how strong you stayed the whole race. That second half in 1:06:45 is amazing. Basically 6 min's faster than my second half last year... It seems unreal! I'm excited to see you come back and start dominating again. Your talents are made for the next level.

Thanks again for all your help this year with everything. If I have a good race on Saturday I'll owe it all to you.

I'll be up at the start again tomorrow morning like we did last year...
