| | kosmin test distance 1316.5 killer test! the test said i'd get about 4:47 on a 1500. i ran a 4:46 on a whole 16 though earlyer so idk maby im in less shape than then. |
| |
| | totally awesome run today! 8 miles with 10 minutes of 5:30 pace tempo. the first 4 miles were nice. we ran with james holt for a whyle and chatted. we got up to washington parkway, turned around and immediately started our tempo. taylor and i had 5:30 to hit. the first minute we struggled about 5:40 pace but after a whyle we got rolling and hit 5:30! we even got down to 5:20 on some downhill parts. it was a really tough tempo but i just got into the zone on this one! i was able to really relax by breathing and my body and focus on running fast and keeping my form solid. i bet the cars driving past were like woah cool kids right there! hit the tempo right on, regrouped with mike, matt, krenshaw and david and ran back the the church where we started. i had to take a emergency bathroom break about a mile from the finish. overall a really good run! ive had a headache all day and i think i might be getting sick. ill report how i feel tomorow |
|
| | yup im getting sick. still have tht headache from yesterday and im getting nacious with a fever. that would probably explain the higher heartrates than everyone else! |
| | 1.5 warm up nice mile repeats workout on the track today. my times were 5:33, 5:30, 5:32. it was a fairly consistant workout for me. i wasgeting pretty tired by the 3rd repeat but i focused on keeping a good form and relaxing the best i could. was a little woried going out today because i got a little sick yesterday but i diddnt feel really slugish or anything. we lifted after the 1.5 cooldown. i noticed it was alot hader to breath in the chill. also, i am starting a 6 days completely healthy week habbit (i get to be a little fat on the 7th). its one of my goals leading into an epic track and xc season! |
|
| | Nice trail run today. The last few trails lately have been nice for plantars so thats positive! Feelin pretty smooth so far this week. |

Pine View 5k (3.107 Miles) 00:16:18, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | great race today! well it was more of a tempo. ran with mikey untill the last little bit loosing to him by 8 sec. im really impresed with how well we are all getting! this was one of my best 5k times and it was pretty much just a tempo! looking forward to seeing all my hard work these last few weeks (see feb. 6ths post for details on the past few weeks) pay off.
|
|
| | hello everyone! sorry ive been slacking on my updating lately! i'll give a quick summary after todays run details (for my future kin looking at my runs;) anyways today we did our am run with 3 miles and afternoon we headed down to the river trail to do our 10 mile run with 30 min tempo. did really well untill about minute 23 when my explosive stomach problems kicked in. i tried to make it to the maverick closest to us but i coulent do it. i ducked behind a rock and let it flow. i then picked the dead grass and wiped. sorry for the details. but i started again and kept an okay pace the rest of the way. i ran with able who also had stomach problems. i know that i could have kept my 5:40 pace the whole way if i didnt have problems though and that helps my confidence! i iced my foot good tonight. so these last few weeks have been some of the toughest running weeks i have ever had. our mile repeat mondays have been chalanging but me and casey have been able to blast them! im no longer woried about the future of the repeats because i know that i'll be able to do them. trail tuesdays have been super fun, and im trying to keep my foot and ankle in one peice;) wednesday river trail tempos have been the toughest part of the runing lately but i know im getting better at them and i still have my confidence. the stomach problems have been stupid though but i think i can deal with that too by going durring my 4th period class instead of right before practice so we'll see (again, sorry about my detailed bowl movement problems;) i like old man hill thursdays so im looking forward to those. easy fridays are heaven and saturday tempos arent too bad. im really looking forward to seeing all my hard work pay off! lately my extensor tendons in my right foot have been very swoled and inflamed and i took a couple days off durring its worst. ive been taking care of it reallywell and its progressing. thankfully it dosent affect my running very much. so the winter training continues in its tough glory but im confident in my ability to kick its ace! just keep running i guess! and thats the end of my ranting everybody! goodnight....baby!

|

Pine View 1600 time trial 2013 pre season (1 Miles) 00:04:42, Place overall: 2 | | great time trial today.i got a pr with 4:42. i felt like mike casey and i could have gained a few seconds faster on the first lap as i felt we slowed down alot but i was running with experienced pros so maby it would have burnt me out idk! it made me confidant about the track season starting here in a few weeks.

| | worried i might be gettin sick! |
| | gott up on the holiday to run with the manly men. abel shaved his leggs, so it goes without saying we had a smooth run together. we went down to old man hills and did 3X800's. times were 2:35 2:37 2:35. fastest times yet but tough
|
|
| |
am : good run with the usual 3 pm: mile repeats, 4x1600s with a goal pace of 5:20. each lap for basically the whole workout was 1:20s right on pace for 5:20, with occasional variables including a crowded track, wind (or so mike said), lane (1 or 2, sometimes 3) on turns, etc., with a faster last lap by a second or two on each 1600. This workout took more effort than any previous 1600 repeat workout, but performance wise, this one was probably the best repeat workout of this season, all things considered! Casey and I, the split machines, scored 5:17, 5:19, 5:16, 5:17. I noticed we relaxed a little bit on the 3rd but still was able to reach goal times from 1-4 seconds each time, on our most challenging time yet.

hello again everybody! actually updating my blog again! check around in the past for races, but i'll just do quick mileage updates mostly for the last few months. wish me luck! today we had a easy 3 am run pm: 10x400 @ 1:05 pace with recovery starting at 1:15, staying there for 3 400's then dropping 15 seconds for every 2 400 untill we were at 30 seconds recovery for the last two. the first 5 were tough but kept right on 4:04. the next few struggled alot, dropping nearly 3 or 4 seconds but snapped back into it and ran good times for the finishing little bit. mile and a half for warm and cool. looking forward to a easy run tomorow and Davis this weekend put up the new distance medly time in the record board and i am in it now! pretty cool stuff. looking forward to breaking the 4x800 record this weekend too with mike, abel and matt |
Altras Miles: 3.00 | Infernoz Miles: 5.50 |
|
| | am: easy 3 pm: went out on a paved trail through town for a easy 5.5 miler. nice to take a break, i can tell im getting tired from all the hard work this season but hey! hopefully it will all pay off.

Altras Miles: 3.00 | Infernoz Miles: 5.50 |
| |
| | am: easy 3 pm: COE workout #2. a 200, 220, 240, 260, 280, 300 with equal recovery, getting faster pace each time. 1 set. the workout started out pretty easy but i definantly felt some speed heading into the 2nd half! overall it was not a tough workout at all, mostly just got some speed in me.
|
Altras Miles: 3.00 | Infernoz Miles: 4.50 |
| |
| | am: easy 3 Pm: headed up to Davis today for the meet tomorow with mike, taylor, matt, rachel and jessica. man, i've got some philosophical insight for you today. nothing cray cray, just legit words coming out of my fingers. Kissing girls is good, unless they totally turn their stupid hair in your face and you totes get regected! that embarasing. and there is nothing quite like being on a fun cool high school team! the expiriences ive had with my team are unforgettable. i wouldent trade a few seconds faster times in races for being in highschool with my team ever! they are kool kids. just about to watch space balls with them and get a good nights sleep tonight getting ready to run in the 9:40's in the 3200 and break the school record in the 4x800 tomorow. all withing 30 minutes of eachother......yay.... haha well wish me luck! im racing in the seeded heat so thats cool.

Green Beans Miles: 3.00 | Infernoz Miles: 5.30 |

| Race: |
Davis invitational (2 Miles) 00:10:05 | | yesterday was the Davis invite. abel wowed us with a 4:24. i ran crappy with a 10:05 in the fastest heat so i was like 4th from last...bummer. and in the 4x800 we were suposed to break the record easy but matt (a 2:02 runner) ran a 2:11 or something but oh well, everyone has bad races. next year for sure. i ran 2:04 800 |
| Race: |
snow canyon all comers 2013 (2 Miles) 00:09:55 | | almost beat josh again! but i think i have him pretty well beat in the 1600 |

region 9 championship 2013 (1 Miles) 00:04:28 | | pr in the mile with a 4:28, got 4th overall. almost beat abel! 2 mile was a little more crappy, dont think it was sub 10, but i got 4th or 5th |
| Race: |
utah 3a state championship 2013 (1 Miles) 00:04:28 | | closest ive gotten to beating abel since DH! past him with 175 left to go but his kick is that of a angry cow when you milk it and it like kicks the bucket of milk over. he beat me by a second and he got 8th, i was 9th 2 mile sucked |
| | Allrighty, heres the deal. i did not update much throughout the track season. like at all. sooo Im getting an approximate mileage and slapping it all here on todays entery (i'm acutally doing all of this july 6th 2013) i'm using mikes monthly mileage minus a little bit where i need to. the milage should be pretty close actually, but here it goes! i'm also putting in my races, the ones i remember anyways. theres like 9 or 10 races i think. the shoe mileinge is also aproximate. allrighty, i stoped updating feb 20th and started again june 3rd. heres what i got. mikes mileage from feb-apr. was 217+265+42. afer i subract 152+0+42 for mileage already updated i get 521 for those 3 months. an occasional run missed and possible missed warm ups, sick days etc. i'm guessing it would be around 510 miles. in may the milage was 77 more or less. so grand total for all the days missed is 587 +/- lets say 20 miles. but 587 is what i'll put in. and yes, i did account for mikes early start on morning practice, and his back problem related missed practices. okay my tablet is being stupid and wont let me edit the next paragraph, but the infernos have 310 miles, not 350. and i'll put each months milage in the correct month, not all on this entry. just mays miles on this entry. i did put all the shoes milage on this entry. thank you for tuning in on byrons epic update. i ran mostly in my infernos, so i'll put about 350 milles on thoes. many morning runs were in my altras and smurfs, so i'll put 60 miles on my altras and and 170 on smurfs (ran in smurfs considerably more) and i got my peg 29's later in the season around byu so i'll put another 45 on thoes. |
Altras Miles: 70.00 | Smurfs Miles: 170.00 | Infernoz Miles: 310.00 | Pegasus 29 Miles: 45.00 |
|
| | hey everybody! new goal, blog consistantly thru xc! i'll be updating my mileage and races from track, so stay tuned. i got new shoes a couple weeks ago, nike pegasus. i was worried because with every shoe except the brooks pure connects hurt my plantar tendon on my left foot after a few miles but these have only done that a couple times so i want to get my feet used to something new after running in almost nothing except for connects and a little altra for years! i'm only wearing my pegasus for runs this week and wearing them whyle i walk and walk at disneyland the next 4 days. then i'll switch off connects and pegasus every other. any other suggestions for a chronicly problem plantar? well, first run of the xc season and the journey to a state championship! i'll finish up my goals but the jist of it is competing for the individual title for region and state, and hey, why not shoot for things bigger than state too!? i'll also be running real hard for scholarship offers as well...hopefully:) am:3.1 preston and i are on vacation, we just ran around the block twice and some in anehiem cali. we were excited i can tell, we averaged 6:53 pace, i finished at 6:30 pace the last little bit haha! the altitude just pushed oxygen in me! it was great haha. preston did really well too, he was strugling though (we were going faster than last years xc race pace for him after all) but good for him right? i hope the team did well with their first day back in st. George! we are eexpecting a HUGE turnout! |
| |
| | didnt want to wake up early again so i went before lunch. feet getting tired! |
|
| | Man its a chore running on vacation but i went again before lunch. its nice having the hotel right across the street from the park! |
| | i hope running on vacation is easyer on my cruise in august, even though by theni'll probably haave tempos and double runs. but disneyland with all its walking and standing is making me feet sore! especially when your familymakes you the designated fast pass getter;) but hey, the run was refreshing today! |
| |
| | most coolest awesomest 4 miler ive ever ran for sure! we went to a beach at laguna and i brought my running stuff because i knew a oceanside run would be legit and yes, it was sweet! it started in the middle of like, bel air area with tons of nice beach houses (more like beach mansions) along the cliff by the ocean and it was legit, and anybody who knows me knows that i have a love for awesome cars and nice expencive things so when i ran by this house that you could look down into the courtyard and there was a porche 911 and a Rolls Royce (a 4 million doller car...jk;) i was in heaven! but that wasent all! after i got out of the rich neighborhood, i got to this park thing with a trail right by the cliffs overlooking all of laguna beach and laguna beach city and holy cow what an amazingly scenic mile or so of the run! then i got on to pacific coast highway and then the cool cars...wow. ferraris, bentlys, maseratis, gtr's, lambos, aston martins, mercedes mclarens, i was on cloud 9. by the turn around i didnt want to turn around! so i added another mile:) the wayback was basically the same but backwards. next time in cali i'll have to arrange a barefoot run down a long beach or someting, maybe santa monica? hey coach! maybe at footlocker?? great run today though, nice, easy, scenic, luxurious, awesome:) |
|
| | blegh:P 110 degrees! thats okay, i was getting sick of perfect weather this week anyways:'( time to extra hydrate! like mo fara once told saarel, your pee should be clear! |
| |
| | Nice 4 miler up turtle trail! |
|
| | easy 3 up to maveric, with kids club after. we did two 200 ish meter sprints as part of a relay (my team won) but dang it got me sore.... |
|
| | nice run down to sandburgs, took a dip in the pond. felt nice! nikes still feelin fine. missed tyson today though! that lazy cheek! |
| |
| | barefoot day at the soccer field. didnt even bring my shoes, just rode my bike to practice barefoot. grass felt really nice! headed up to scout camp for a couple days.I gave a run planned with my leader up at altitude, should be fun! |
| | nick and I could only go for 30 minutes, but that was plenty of time to get our milage (i think it was supposed to be 3 but we finished somewhere between 4 and 4.5 pretty easy. doing minutes though was very inconvinient though, the first half was all downhill and at 10000 feet going back uphill all the way at the same pace was tough but all in all a nice hard heartrate run! |
|
| | I ran at the region course with Taylor today. it was soooo hot especially on that humid grass. i think it was 104, but yah. and i was at camp for a couple days before that so i wasent even close to as hydrated as i ormally am. just goes to show ya what hydration can do! but we did the whole course quick, 21 or 22 minutes, even though we were dying. |
|
| | first speed workout of the season! we did the vvo2 test. we did it around a .25 mile grass loop (the grass was quite wet unfortunately). I took the lead and the first lap was a 1:14 maybe? ish. took out pretty quick but abel passed me and that lasted for about 3 seconds before a sharp turn on the wet grass took him down and nearly leveled me as well! he rolled right back up though, kinda ninja like, and his adrenaline put a good sized gap between us but i caught back up with him and stayed one step behind him the rest of the time untill the last 45 seconds, we started our kick and we were shoulder shoulder and finished the same distance, 1813 i beleive? tied with taylor. i know we could have gotten in the 1900's if: #1: wider turns, the sharp turns killed the momentum. #2: dry grass. i understand why we do it on the grass, xc races are often on grass, but the wet grass really killed our grip, but i guess it teaches you to really push of the grass! all in all i'm feelin good about it! proud of paul too, for just coming out he placed with the top group! matt did really well too, along with reed and brayden! kyler kept in it too, so we'll see how things go the rest of the summer:) |
|
| | I'm up at SUU with Taylor for a medical career thingy, so we got up today at 6:30 and ran up to Ceader high and did our 2 mile hard (6:30ish average, nothing hard really, just a pick up) on the xc course. i like that course! then we ran back to the dorms and got ready for the day! |
|
| | just an easy run around campus. we woke up early again, and went to the track since Taylor and I have never been on it before (went up to davis invite this year instead). nice track! then we went over to the soccer fields to do some barefoot because the grass looked heavenly! unfourtunately it was freezing cold, but i dealt with it. the grass wasent super soft anyways, ive ran on better. then we did some striders, and we did them pretty quick! then we went back to the dorms |
|
| | so we did long hill loops today. two of them actually. we held a 6:40 pace up the mileish straight up the hill. everyone kept up, them on the 2nd one we kept it 6:45 pace till we hit the steepe part, then everyone gave it more effort, most of us got down to 6:15 for parts of it. probably harder than we should have, well then most of us should have, but i've just been itching for a tough hill workout so it hurt so good;) each loop was about 2.3 miles, we finished at 6.8 miles. |
|
| | easy three in thr afternoon |
|
| |
ran .5 to and from practice (coach said it would be good to do that, since it would get my mileage up just a little bit, 5 miles a weekish. i'm not too woried about it negatively effecting me because I have 3 years and thousands of miles in my legs to make the extra running benneficial.) and besides, i like the easy .5s before and after:) today we had our Vo2 max test, 15 minutes, goal of getting as far as you can, and boy it was appropriately named max for me today! went out with taylor Abel withthe first mile at 5:09, then he broke away from me, i tried to stick with his surges but i was only able to keep with his first 3 or 4, and soon he got too quick to keep up with. he was about 5 seconds ahead of me by the 2nd mile ( he was a 5:23 i think, i was around 27ish) and then he kept it strong whyle i was struggliing to keep pace! my legs lungs head and throat were on fire! although i was maxed out for sure i think i might have been able to go farther if i would hav paced myself better, but then i would have been alone at the beginning and it helps phycologicaly having abel to run with, when he dropped me it got way more tough keeping pace all alone. but i got 2 3/4 Miles exactly though! (well, 2 miles 1199.999 meeters but i'm just going to round up to 1.2K) and I'm very very very plesed with my effort and performance. later tonight i went to the rec center and did hamstring and leg workouts to get strong and keep my self less prone to injury. i also stretched and rolled really well. definantly in shape better and earlyer than last year so by the end of the season hopefully i'll be in the best shape ever! looking forward to tomorows workout! theres something awesome about workouts when they arent over untill you physicaly cant run them anymore!
|
|
| | 40x152 meeter dashes today, had to do them in <30 seonds. first 15 or so werent too bad but when we got around 30 it gottough because we only had 30 seconds rest. coach stoped us at 40 though, but i think i could have done another 10ish. we had kids club after, got a mile or so in. and i ran to and from practice. i stretched really well, so hopefully i wont be too sore tomorow! |
|
| | nice and easy grass barefoot day with striders after. half mile to and from practice. nice running with trevor thompson today too! oh and coach, the place i was talkin about is called fire and ice. its on the top level of the garden walk plaza or whatever about a block away from disneyland, my family went there for lunch twice when we were there, we just walked it isent too far away. but dang girl, it was delish!!! and about the price of an ice cream cone inside the park;D |
| |
| | mile repeats today on the dirt mile. goal times were 6:50. this was the first repeat session (3 repeats) that i actually had a hard time going slow enough! the first one was like 6:15, 2nd was 6:30 then 6:40. I mean come on! i do this pace on shorter runs for the whole 4 or 5 miles sometimes! oh well, the are going to get alot harder |
|
| | 30/30s today. last week we did 40 of them (coach made us max at 40) but this week coach told us to make our recovery much more active, so abel and i kept together and recovered much more actively, in fact, we didnt stop to walk, or even catch our breath once! last week we did about 50 meters recovery and stoped to wait to go for 5 to 10 seconds but this week abel and i woud recover 75meters, and sometimes even almost 100 meters and we would just go when coach yelled for the 30 seconds to start. let me tell ya, that made a HUGE difference! i was struggling at #13, and it felt like the 30 sec. hards were way faster than last time! its crazy what 5 seconds of rest will do for ya, but in this workout you shouldent be doing that. abel and i dropped at 20, but we could have done a little bit more. next weeks goal is 25! i bought some asics gell lyte 33 2's today, much better than the first gells. i like em! |

| | ran in my new asics, very comferable and pretty light! didnt hurt my plantar even for a hilly run so thats a good sign! we went 6 miles down to hells hole, and turned left ant the fork for the ups and downs of the half marathon course mile 3 to 4.5 or something like that. the way up was strong! like 7:30 pace. the way back was something like 6:15 averagge pace but with all the downhill its hard not too! impressed with kyler, krenny and daves performance |

| | ran out in green valley/bloomington today. 8 miles with an average pace of like 7:45 to 7:30 or something (i finally ordered a new garmin strap to replace my broken one and it got here wednesday so i finally know my paces!) we went out on the river trail then me, krenny and matt decided to make it a loop through bloomington. the loop turned out to be 6 miles so we went out and back another 2 miles. I've really been suprised seeing how much i can do compared to even a year ago! i remember this time last year i had a hard time keeping up on a 7 milerun, and even had to stop a few times and now i look at myself and my breathing wasent forced whatsoever even for a good pace durring a 8 miler early in the training season! the only time i breathed hard was when matt decided to pull a 6:10 last mile! i'm pretty confident that i'll be in really good shappe for the race season! |

woke up this morning to run but I remembered i'm doing a late night run today, so i finished the yardwork i was told to do like 2 months ago. now, i'm going to spend the next 3 hours updating approximate mileage from track season, and do a quick recap on all my races! make it worth my whyle and read my races at least;) DONT PROCRASTINATE THE DAY OF YOUR BLOG UPDATE!!!! all done updating! it only took 2 hours! go to the last day of may for the whole sh-bang. you dont need to read the races though, i can hardly remember anything about them! so we had a night run, abel krenny hunter and I. ran by the shone estate/castle/whatever and went to her vacant neighbors house and pool hopped. to our suprise we hopped the wall the same time a group of foul mouthed adolecant delinquants were hopping the other side! so we had pool buddies for a second. we chilled in the pool for a minute or two, did some flips off the diving board then continued on our night run. afterwards we went to sonic for half off shakes, i got coconut creme pie, soooooo delish yall have to try it. i think i got jipped on the price though, hunter also got a medium and his was like 50 cents less than mine! maybe they had to import the coconut from tahiti or somethin. thats seriously how good it was. placed an order for some neon green and yellow connect 2's to replace my warn down red ones, more infamously named the "infernos" name ideas for the new ones coming in?

AM: strapped on my new asics gell lytes for some "speed" (if you could call it that) today. ran to and from practice for an extra mile. we went up to the dirt mile to do 4xmile repeats. i was suposed to get 6:50 for 80% of my VO2 or whatever but i went like 15-20 seconds fast and finally on the last 2 coach told me to run with abel and i was greatfull because I felt akward trying to keep a conversation going with him like 10 meters in front of me haha! my splits were like 6:20, 29, 35, 33. the pace was easy and abel and I basicaly talked the whole time, but thats probably going to change soon... hopefully. I've been itching to go fast lately! coach was all ticked off today! freakin weirdo... disneyland did not go well for him I think. Maybe he just needed a hug! maybe the fact that I'm updating right after my run will put a smile on his face! ....... :) I signed up for this run for chelsi 5k next monday, I'm hoping to get like a 16:30 at least and I think i could do it! pm: lets say I have had better doubles. i couldent make it to practice with the team, i had to teach piano across town at that time, so i went shortly after dinner and if you know me...well, lets just say i was in a big hurry to get home the last mile and a half! i was about .3 from home and 3 dogs started chasing me! almost scared the crap right out of me literally... then i ran to and from the rec center which was another .7 ish and lifted weights. it was only 102 i think so it wasent as soul suckingly hot as last saturdays run but still quite warm. ive been drinking like a russian alcoholic though (just a joke, dont cry) so i felt allright in the heat:) 3.7 total

ran to and from practice like always, 1 mile round trip
we did 30/30's again today, abel and i did 25 of them with 152 meters durring the hard 30 seconds and at least 75 meters on the 30 seconds active recovery. I'm still amazed at how much the very active recovery changes the intencity of the workout! we got 20 last week, 25 today and opposed to 40 two weeks ago when we would only do 50 meters of recovery and rest for 5 seconds. we all did a mile warm and we just cooled to 5 miles. that baylee koyer person came again today... does she not have any friends? we may never know...

Enterprise 24th of July 5K (3.107 Miles) 00:16:23, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | |
5k today up in enterprise. we woke up early and met at coaches at 5am to get to the 6:30 race up in enterprise. we got there, registered then searched for a restroom. when we got out, everyone was gone. apparantly there were busses that take everyone clear up into the canyon where the race apparantly started... it was a very very stressfull 10 minutes whyle all 4 of us ( abel matt me and kyler) had to catch a last minute ride up the canyon from one of the locals. made it just in time luckily, but we had maybe a half mile warm up... the race started and placement started pretty quick with abel and i, coach holt and the DH coach fielding in the lead (coaches were doing the 10k) with matt and kyler right behind us and colton not much farther back. not much else happened actually. matt and kyler fell back a little, but held a good pace throughout. same with colton. abel and i were helped out by the coaches as they kept the pace about 5:15 the whole race. the last mile came in no time and i took no hesitation on making a move into it by catching coach fielding who pulled ahead 10 or 20 meters or so. abel slowly caught up and we had another .75 miles or so. we kept a quick pace up untill the last 300 meters or so and i tried making a move on abel but he was going pretty quick as well. i think if the race was a bigger deal like a HS race i would have caught him easy, but that kid has quite the kick, so you never know! i shoulda gone for it but i knew we both ran really well and i just let us finish quick. Abels time: 16:20, mine 16:23. matt and kyler and colton were about a minute or two behind. Pine view had the top 12345 sweep! and coach won the 5k so PV all the way! (radioactive green beans, 5 miles) afternooon did a quick 3 miles with the team, and had a swim party after at coaches. planning for camp too! super excited.

half mile to and from practice. half mile barefoot warm up with the usual core and agility warm ups. then we went down into hells hole for hill workouts. the usual rolling hill trail we use for these washed out and there was work being done on it. so we went to the hill that the canyon gets its name from: hells hole, named appropriately. we did 4x1:00 sprints and 6x:30 sprints. they were tough on that steepe of a hill, but actually werent too bad! i can definantly tell im getting stronger. :: pm, went to the school, did the usual 3 then lifted some weights.

SUU invite 2013 (3 Miles) 00:16:45, Place overall: 7 | | Race at SUU bicentenial park today. rain delayd the race by 30 minutes. that jacked up my warmup routine. Abel and I lead the race up untill about mile 2. I started to fall behind but got my junk back together and fought back up to the pack. once I was up there i was feeling pretty good! so i started a move to pull ahead. then, my hamstring charlie horsed really bad! i had to stop for 4 or 5 seconds and stretch it out becouse i couldent extend it! it took me about a half mile of running to get it feeling okay again and the last half mile i was able to make a decent kick to the finish. i got 7th though so it was okay for a hamsttring problem i guess.

Grass Relays AF 2013 (2 Miles) 00:10:42 | | Race up in american fork this morning. i was the first leg of the 5 person relay and I got to race with some fast kids including mcmillan from AF. My start was really crappy. everyone went out really fast and I thought to myself that it would be smart not to kill it, mcmillan was, afterall, behind me so I figured that i was ok. It probably wasnt the smartest move though. I used alot of valuable energy getting up to the front. I stuck up front for the first mile (5:04) but wasent ready for a move entering in the second mile and i got passed up by quite a few kids. I couldent really get moving fast enough again and got pased by another few kids throughout the mile. going in on mile 1.5 i really felt dead tired. i dont know why though! I should have easyly been able to go that fast! I really cant think why I was so dead, the pace wasnt anything killer but dang was i dead. It wasnt all physical though, there was definantly some mental weakness in there.
positives: went out strong, was not afraid to get up front and race... the first mile.
negatives: settled second mile. didnt go ball-shaking. got so discouraged by the people who passed me that I didnt even put up a fight, which is not like me. I think I should have propably hydrated more.
overall im sure I did better than im giving myself crap for, but there are definantly alot of things i can improve on. maybe it was just an off race. I hope so. Im definantly more motivated than ever to do my absolute very best and beat DH. I hope our team can really get moving too.

Cedar Invitational 2013 (3 Miles) 00:15:26, Place overall: 3 | | Race day! Did a couple miles warm
race started and Abel and I had little problem getting out in from by 800 meters. Confidence kept growing as our gap kept growing between us and the rest of the race. About 1200 left josh Mcphie pushed up to us with Ben Powell not far behind. Josh moved with us then broke ahead unfortunately after a hard fight down the concrete stretch. 400 left and kicked it in a few behind josh and 1 behind Abel, Ben was 1 behind me. Bummer! I wanted to win, I beat both Abel and josh last week. Just need to fight harder next time

| | Am: 1mile easy then we went into a 2 mile tempo, felt about 5:50 pace but I'm not sure. Just hard enough to get moving. I actually wasn't even berating very hard! Had to keep the pace controled for the team though. When we got back to the school we did 3 sets of master blasters (basically 3 sets of 4 200m sprints with 50-60 seconds rest between the 200's, 5 minutes or so rest between the sets). Not too hard but definantly tiring. Pretty nippy this morning too! Brought out the arm sleeves! Region 9 championships in 5 days! This season has FLOWN by. I'll be fighting hard for the win that's for sure!
pm: easy 3

Region 9 championships 2013 (3.107 Miles) 00:16:18, Place overall: 2 | | Region today! Had 2 miles warmup then got ready for ther race. Abel and I were trying a little different strategy, we stuck with the pack for 2 miles then broke off to try and throw down a killer last mile. It didn't work out too well, at least for Abel anyways, but josh and I fought the whole last mile with Abel and a few others about 8 seconds back. Josh out kicked me by 3 seconds! So close! I'll go for the win at state though

Utah State Championships 3A 2013 (3 Miles) 00:16:08, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | AM: quick 3 around sandy
PM: went to the course, watched the girls race then got warming up.
My lateral side of my right calf was in major pain on the warm up from the weird accident yesterday when i stepped off the curb and strectched something in there pretty bad. I just ran it off and tried not to worry about it too much. got a good warm up in, and the time came to go to the line. I was sooo excited to show off our new state uniforms, with the jailbreak shorts and everything! sooo awesome. before I knew it the gun shot and The Race was ON!
the first turn up the asphalt was crowded, and I was stuck in a pack, so I struggled my way out and did some illigal running up on the grass to pass people, but nothing actually against the rules, just getting to where i belong. up front. the whole top stretch was me passing people to get up in the lead. I managed it easily, and actually had to slow myself down to not break out in the lead too much. going down the hill there was some uinta domo or something out in front, not even wearing spikes. i knew i didnt have to worry much. i was looking for marsing because i wanted to stick with him, make him do the work for the rest of the race. i was looking for abel too but no such luck. we went up and down the hill and just like that the first mile was done. i set my placing up very nicely for the first mile i think.
the long stretch around the hill was hard but controlled pace, breaking people off the lead pack and making moves with marsing when he would move. rounding the top of the long hill and down into the twists and turns it was just me, marsing and a park city kid. marsing would surge and i would keep thinking i was loosing him but i pushed the thoughts away and kepts fighting with him.
rounding the road and going down the stretch by the creek, we were going suprisingly slow. (the whole race was actually paced as a very slow race comparitively. nobody went out to push the pace dramatically, it was all about placement with the leaders. not times apparantly) I actually fancied pushing the pace and leading it, but decided it would be smarter to stick with marsing. now that i look back at it, im kicking myself for not doing that! i could have, and it very well could have broken garret marsing! but you never know.
we rounded the lake for the last time and our pace started moving faster and faster. we broke the park city kid and created a 20 second or so gap from us to everyone else. the race was really getting on at this point! we went up the bump, coach yelled at me to get moving fast and both of us just kicked like crazy! he pulled away about 2 seconds, but i kept it at that. once we hit the gate marsing just exploded and I think i was just not quite ready for that, and i was so tired from that last 400 it took me a second or two to respond, but those quick moments let marsing start his amazing kick to the finish. I kicked very hard as well, because i was afraid josh mcphie was going to be at my heels any second now. unfourtunately he had a little bit of a bad race, and fell behind:( but the finish showed marsing at 16:03 and me at 16:08. (i had goals for mid/high 15's but the pace of the race didnt quite allow for record-breaking times this year)
Marsing is a great runner, and Im proud of myself for sticking with him for the whole race. true, i wanted to win and true, if i raced different there was a chance i could have got him but in my mind im glad that I had the guts to go with him and fight at the end! Im happy with second this time, but some state champ titles are deffinantly in my sights for track!
after the race I congradulated my friends, hugged a teary eyed coach (which soon turned in to a colourfully worded coach when the park city coach wouldent stop yelling and braging about how they got second) and went to wait for my team to finish up.
we didnt have that great of a race as a team. abel who is usually with me all the time, placed 14. its too bad, but it happens sometimes. we lost to park city by 6 points. desert hills made southern utah region 9 proud in their win.
all in all im not too dissapointed in the meet. we can all learn, and the seasons not over yet. Dare to GO.

| | Well, its the end winter running break and I had my wisdom teeth pulled 5 days ago. I decided that I was good enough to try running today after two and a half weeks of no running. I went out with Abel, Preston, Cam, Jake, Matt, Dave, and Kaden Bowler and Scott Sandburg from DH ran 4 of their miles with us.
We went out on the dogtown course from the double churches out to the top of majestic hill and back. I was feeling fine so I went all four miles with them. My mouth was pretty uncomfortable and I felt weak the last little bit from not eating much this week but overall not too bad! It was fun breaking out my new christmas running gear!

| | Went out to the chuckawalla train out in ivins with my bro, cousin, and Abel and Krenny. Its my favorite trail. we went 2 miles up to the cliff overlook and stoped to enjoy the view. Preston and Tanner turned aroud and went 4. Abel Krenny and I went down the mountain to a little trail valley thing to some cave type things and turned around to make it a 7 mile run. The hill coming up was beastly. On the way back we took a wrong turn and ended up going 7.5 miles. For only being back a few days I felt really good! I was reading in runners world that since I took 3 weeks off (Two week break plus my wisdom teeth a few days off) it will only take me 3 weeks to get back to where I was before the break.
