Running Accomplishments:

Pre-highschool: I loved to run and ran a few small local 5k's, but I did not run much on my own, besides junior high track.

Freshman year: I ran cross country and traied wih the team most of the summer.  When the season started I ran 3 races including Murray Invitational.  I got a huge PR there but after the race my foot hurt and I had a hard time walking. I ran on it for the next week but it was not getting better, so I went to a Sports MD and found out that i had a stress fracture.  Becaue of that injury I missed the rest of the season. Then I ran track for my junior high but did not do extremely well.

Sophmore year: I trained hard over the summer and I got a 3 minute PR on my first race.  I continued to PR, and had a good, injury free season. I ran indoor track an had some good PRs. I ran at simplot and had a great time. I did track and  ran some goodtimes and cut my time down by 15 seconds, I was hoping that I could get low 5's in the mile, but I had fun and was able to race at the steepechase and have a fun time through out the season. At sophmore region I was able to PR in the 800 and I missed my PR in the mile by 2 seconds.

Junior year: I ran a little over 500 miles over the summer, but wasn't improving how I would have liked over the season. I was not consistant at all and was sick for aboout 3 races. I finally had a good race at region and dropped a 46 second pr. Track went well, I went sub-5 in the mile finally and got a PR in the 2 mile pretty easily. I didn't really hit the times I had hoped for throughout the season due to sickness and I just wasn't in it.

PRs:

800: 2:11

1600: 4:56.35

3200: 11:17.47

3 mile: 17:41

5k: 18:07

Short-Term Running Goals:

Cross Country 2016:

Run 650 to 700 summer miles SUCCESS

Low 15's on the 5K and Sub 15 3 mile

Place at region and state

Go to footlocker nationals

Track 2017:

Sub 4:20 mile

Sub 9:15 on the 3200

Sub 2:00 on the 800

Sub 6:25 on steeple chase

Qualify for State, Arcadia, and Great South West, and become the best runner I can be.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run cross country and track in college. Keep improving and just having fun. I'll probably run an ultra or two for the heck of it and to see if I like them.

Personal:

I'm a Senior at Weber High School. I am LDS and plan on serving a mission before college. I'm a member of The Hobbyjogger Project.

Another 8 miles today, I ran to Weber where we were meeting as a team. We ran on the Left side of the canal that goes out to the elk ranch. Me, Jake, and Henry maintained a pretty good pace on the way there, and the gate that is usually locked was open. So we were able to go farther than usual, and run up right next to the elk. On the way back we got spread out a bit more, but it was still a good pace. We then stretched as a team and I ran home. My hip was bugging me today, so hopefully it is nothing major and I will be able to race well on Saturday.

Woke up at 6 to do a mile shake-out. Once we drove to Perry I did a 1/2 mile warmup with 3 strides. I was kinda nervous at the start line because there were 5 or so runners from Box Elder's XC team. My goal was just to stick with them and last a bit longer at the pace we were going. The race started pretty fast and my first mile was way to fast. I was trying to keep with the pack in front of me becasue it spread out quick. There was a small group about 100 meters in front of me and a couple Box Elder kids were sticking on me pretty well at the first mile. Around a mile and a quarter there was a small hill that I was able to power up and lost the kids who were on my tail. I stayed alone the rest of the race and started reeling a guy in, but he ended up beating me by a little at the end. I ended up beating all the Box Elder kids besides one (he ended up winning the whole thing:) good job to him!), and they were really fun to talk to and meet after the race. I was kinda dissapointed with my time just because it was so close to last week, but it was a much harder course today, so its not to bad. :) My hip hurt after, so I cooled down for a mile and a half and called it good. My splits were 5:56 for the first mile, 6:27 for the second mile, and 6:28 for the third mile.

Good day today, did a 2 mile tempo with Jake this morning. Started with a 1.5 mile warm-up, then 2 miles which were actually faster than my tempo pace. First mile was a 6:02 and my second was a 6:13. We cooled down for 2 miles and called it good. Later tonight we did 3.25, most of it was barefoot around Barker Park.

8 mile long run this morning, hurt a lot more than it should have and it was slower than it should have been. I was running into the wind on the way there and was not feeling motivated at all, I picked up the speed a little more around mile 2. On the way back I picked up the speed more because I was running into the wind, but it still was not fast enough... I stopped at every park I passed on the way home and ran around each one a couple of time at a faster pace. Then I just ran home.

Did 5 this morning with Jake, Addison, and some other people on north arm trail. It was super muddy and fun. We ran on the road on the way back. Later tonight I did 3 up in Paris Idaho near Bear Lake. Went out and ran without a specific time I wanted to hit. I ended up averaging 6:49 miles and it felt a lot better than yesterday.

I did 5 this morning around Paris and out to the Bird refuge on some back roads. Later tonight I found a hill and did 5 repeats up it. I finished my 4th one and noticed a mosquito abatement truck about 1/4 mile down the road, so thinking and hoping it would turn before the hill I started my last repeat. I got to the top and the truck was cruising up the hill, so I tried to out run it on the only road there was. I was going at a full sprint for almost a half a mile so that I would not get sprayed with the poison and to shake the truck. I swear the guy driving was trying to chase me and sped up when he saw me... So I would like to thank him for giving me a speed workout after doing hills. :) I ended up going 3 miles.

Did 4 miles this morning up the Ben Lomond switchbacks, I felt really good ran part with Jake and Addison. On my way down I rolled my ankle on a rock, because of that I lost my balance and ran into a tree and the side of the mountian... because of that, my foot slipped off the side of the trail. It was awesome, some how I stayed on my feet and did not end up dead in the middle of the trail! Later tonight I did 4 more miles on Canal road and ran up the one awful hill 4 times in the middle of it. My average pace was just below 7 minutes.

Wanted to do a tempo run this morning, so I did a mile warmup. I didn't hit my first mile at all, I wasn't even close haha, but my second mile was above pace and I did a little more than another 1/2 mile at tempo after that. Then I just did a 1/2 mile cool-down.  Later tonight I did an easy 4 with Jake, his knee was bugging him though, so I did 2 laps around the park barefoot to get to 4 miles.

We went to Park City today, so I went an easy 4.5 this morning before we left. I ended up buying 2 new pairs of shoes while I was there, so i did another 3.75 tonight on a treadmill to try them out. It was in miles per hour so i did not really know how fast I was going until I finished, but I started at 8.2 MPH and added 0.1 MPH each quarter mile and 0.2 every half mile and mile. So when I finished I ended up running around 6 minute pace.

Did 5 this morning on the trails  above Weber State with Addison and the rest of the team.  Me, Addi and Gavin got lost for a minute but we found our way back.  Than Addi lead me on some awesome trails. On the way back down I tripped as I was trying to let some Bonneville XC girls pass and hit my knee on the rock. I ended up spralled out in the middle of the trail with a couple girls standing around me.  It was quite embarassing.  I ran just after got home from XC to my brothers soccer practice and that was 1/2 mile.  Later tonight I ran 3 more. I felt really good and ended up averaging 6:45 wth my fastest mile being a 6:15! I ran into Kyler half was through and was able to talk to him for a few minutes. He can finally run again so thats great!

Ran over to practice with the team this morning, my first 2 miles were fast. Im not sure what the first was, but my second was a 5:58, I was just running with the top group and felt pretty good. I ran the rest of the time with Gavin and Holden, I can't remember for sure, but I think we averaged 7:10.  Later tonight I ran 3 miles on the canal road and sprinted up a hill then found some other trails. After I got back I ran a lap around the park.

Total of 4 miles this morning with a 2mile tempo. I ran up to the track, but there was a bunch of people up there, so I ran back home which ended up being a 1.25 mile warmup, quickly changed shoes an started my tempo. My first mile was righ on pace at a 6:30, but I picked it up on the second and ran a 6:07. Cooled down around the park after. Later tonight I did 3.5 on the canal with a little around the park.
