Running Accomplishments:

Pre-highschool: I loved to run and ran a few small local 5k's, but I did not run much on my own, besides junior high track.

Freshman year: I ran cross country and traied wih the team most of the summer.  When the season started I ran 3 races including Murray Invitational.  I got a huge PR there but after the race my foot hurt and I had a hard time walking. I ran on it for the next week but it was not getting better, so I went to a Sports MD and found out that i had a stress fracture.  Becaue of that injury I missed the rest of the season. Then I ran track for my junior high but did not do extremely well.

Sophmore year: I trained hard over the summer and I got a 3 minute PR on my first race.  I continued to PR, and had a good, injury free season. I ran indoor track an had some good PRs. I ran at simplot and had a great time. I did track and  ran some goodtimes and cut my time down by 15 seconds, I was hoping that I could get low 5's in the mile, but I had fun and was able to race at the steepechase and have a fun time through out the season. At sophmore region I was able to PR in the 800 and I missed my PR in the mile by 2 seconds.

Junior year: I ran a little over 500 miles over the summer, but wasn't improving how I would have liked over the season. I was not consistant at all and was sick for aboout 3 races. I finally had a good race at region and dropped a 46 second pr. Track went well, I went sub-5 in the mile finally and got a PR in the 2 mile pretty easily. I didn't really hit the times I had hoped for throughout the season due to sickness and I just wasn't in it.

PRs:

800: 2:11

1600: 4:56.35

3200: 11:17.47

3 mile: 17:41

5k: 18:07

Short-Term Running Goals:

Cross Country 2016:

Run 650 to 700 summer miles SUCCESS

Low 15's on the 5K and Sub 15 3 mile

Place at region and state

Go to footlocker nationals

Track 2017:

Sub 4:20 mile

Sub 9:15 on the 3200

Sub 2:00 on the 800

Sub 6:25 on steeple chase

Qualify for State, Arcadia, and Great South West, and become the best runner I can be.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run cross country and track in college. Keep improving and just having fun. I'll probably run an ultra or two for the heck of it and to see if I like them.

Personal:

I'm a Senior at Weber High School. I am LDS and plan on serving a mission before college. I'm a member of The Hobbyjogger Project.

Started off my summer mileage strong with a good 7 mile run with Henry, Jake and Mckenna.

Total Distance
8.25

Woke up this morning and did a 4 mile run.  I did a mile then 2 miles at tempo pace then another mile.  It was pretty cold and pouring rain, and my muscles felt pretty tight.  It was harder than usual to hit my pace but it was still good.  Did 4.25 miles with Jake and Henry tonight with some sprints and 800's to help pace Henry for Great South West. Overall it was a pretty good day.

Total Distance
7.50

Did a 6 mile run this morning, it felt good and I hit a pretty good pace for me. Later I wanted to get some more running in, so I ran to work.

Total Distance
8.25

Ran to Big Rock today.  I was wanting to hit under 7:10 for my average pace there and back, which I was able to do.  My aveage pace on the way there was a 7:05 and on the way back I averaged 7:08.  After I ran to the top of Big Rock I found another cool trail that I ran up for another few minutes. My 8th mile was my fastest at a 6:47 and my second fastest was my 3rd mile at a 6:53.

Total Distance
7.00

Did a hill sprint workout this morning, I did 12 up my street as fast as I could.  It totaled at 4 miles with the warmup and everything. I did 3 miles later this night with some pickups.

Total Distance
7.00

Did 4 miles this morning. I went pretty slow and my body was really fried from yesterday. My joints were really sore and stiff from my soccer game yesterday, but after about a mile and a half they stopped hurting. Later tonight I did 3 miles with Addison.

Total Distance
7.00

Ran with the team this morning, it was the first summer team practice and I was super excited and it was a nice run.  About 5 miles, ran with Sam and Gavin on the way there an Jake Smith on the way back.  Did 2 more miles tonight and I was just going to go at tempo pace, but I started runningand felt amazing.  Something felt diffrent, it was the best run I have had in along time, it felt fun and like nothing could stop me. My first mile was a 5:56 and my second one was a 6:10.

Total Distance
5.00

I was going to do a Stepping Stone today at Mcgriff park.  I ran there, and they were mowing the lawn and stuff there so I was not able to do it there.  I then ran to Lomond View park to do to it there, but there was a bunch of lacrosse stuff going on.  So I ran back home with out being able to finish my work out.  I planed to do it later tonight, but I ended up working until 10. So hopefully I will be able to make it up in the next few days.

Total Distance
9.00

Great run today. I did what I was planning to to yesterday.  I ran to McGriff park on the canal.  Once I got there I did a 5 to 1 setpping stone (5 min. fast then 5 min slow, down to 1).  After that I ran home.  I had no idea how long it was going to be, but I was expecting around 7 miles, but it ended up 9.03.

Total Distance

Did 5.5 with the team on trails this morning and 2 miles later tonight.

Total Distance

Woke up at 5:00 to go on a run  before youth conference.  I ran to Sam's house and then did 4 more miles with her up the pass, down the powerline trail a few minutes, and back.

Total Distance
6.00

I didn't get home rom youth conference until around dinner, so I went on a run late tonight with henry.  I ran to his house, and we did a 5 mile route he knew.

Total Distance
7.00

Did 7 with the team on the Odgen Parkway. We started at the park by the canyon and ran down and around the pond and back averaged a 7:02 pace.

Total Distance
9.25

Did 5.75 this morning.  Ran to Lomond View park did a hill workout there.  Cooled down to the stoplight on Washington when I finished, then ran back to 500 W and ran down the canal road a little ways then back home through the neighborhoods.  I did 3.5 later tonight on the canal road, did a mile, then a mile at tempo pace, then another mile and ran home.

Total Distance
7.50

I did 4.5 this morning.  Ran to highway 89 and back with a little loop around my neighborhood. did the first 3 miles at tempo pace and slow the rest of the way.  Easy 3 miles later tonight with jake.

Total Distance
7.75

Did 5.25 this morning with the team on trail.  There was alot of hills, but it was fun. Did 2.5 later tonight with jake, up 500 to the cave above the canal road.

Total Distance
6.00

Did a mile earlier today. Later did 5 miles with Jake and McKenna to the duck pond by Lee's.

Total Distance
5.50

Was planning on doing a long run today but just ran out of time.  Did 5.5 with Jake, Henry, and Sam. It was a good run, but I have to make up some miles next week

Total Distance
8.75

Had team practice this morning.  We went on a trail run and got about halfway up waterfall canyon. Me and Gavin got lost on the way back and ended up running extra, it ended up being 5.75.  I did 3 more miles tonight before the thunder and lightning came.

Total Distance
7.00

Did 4 miles this morning on the canal at a good pace, but on my way back I got stopped by a dog and had to track down its owner. I did 3 more miles this afternoon.

Total Distance
8.00

I did an 8 mile long run this morning, I stayed at a decent pace but it hurt.  On Monday I did a P90X Plyo workout after my run and I was definitely feeling it on my run today.

Total Distance
9.00

I did 3 miles with the team this morning.  We ran to the waterfall in North Fork park and then climbed up it just for fun. Later tonight I did a 6 mile run with Sam on a part of the Canal Road  have never been on before.

Race: Ragnar (4 Miles) 00:30:36
Total Distance
8.00

I ran 4 miles this morning and was planning on doing 4 more tonight. Around 4:30 Addison called me and told me a runner on his Ragnar team was hurt and couldn't run. So I took his place got to run Ragnar after all!!! I did the 4 tonight and it was all up hill and hot, so it kinda sucked.

Race: Ragnar (8 Miles) 01:03:47

Who would have thought that 8 miles at 4 in the morning would be fun, but it was. Started off wondering if I was lost because us and the ultramarathon team were so far ahead. I came over a hill and saw a light it the distance, so that was a miracle. At this gate by the light I got stopped along with the ultramarathon runner and we had to wait because the volunteers did not know where we needed to go... So that was fun, but once we got going again me and the ultramarathon runner stuck together for the most part and talked and had a good time, it would have been extremely boring and creepy if he was not there because we were on random trails with possible rattle snakes. It was a perfect time to be running and the temperature was great. It was really fun to talk to the ultramarathon runner, who's name is Jeremy. We finished our leg together. Them me and my team cheered and rested then went to party at the finish. It was a really cool experience because we were the first team to cross the finish line. I will definitely be running there again next year.

Total Distance
9.25

I did 6 this morning with the team. Did most of it with Addison, and for both of us recovering from Ragnar we did pretty good! Later tonight I did 3.25 with Jake.

Barefoot Miles: 0.50
Total Distance
7.00

Did 7 miles with Jake this morning. The first 2.5 were like straight up hill then we got on a trail. It was a really fun ran and was a good change from the normal routes.

Total Distance
8.00

Did 8 miles with Jake this morning. We just ran around and freestyled our run until we hit 8. It was hard, but not to bad. It is much funner to be with people on long runs who can push you and help you stay on pace.

Total Distance
7.50

I did 4 miles this morning with the team up the Ben Lomond switchbacks. Going up was slow and painful, but going down I went quite alot faster. I texted Talon a bit which was fun, I also went to the temple. I did 3.5 later tonight in Manti.

I did 4 miles this morning in Manti before driving home. I got like 2 hours of sleep last night because I was in a sleeping bag on the ground, but i averaged a good pace and was able to run around Snow College and on their track.  Later tonight I ran 3.75 with Jake. we did the Pleasant View 5k course and mapped it out for tomorrow. We did some strides after we finished.

Hey Braden. I didnt know you were on the Blog. I saw your name just today. Solid outing last Saturday at the PV5K. Sorry I didnt talk to you much after, my wife puts me on a tight schedule on my runs and she was pushing me to get my cooldown in ASAP. Are you running Cherry Days on Saturday?

Race: Pleasant View 5K (3.107 Miles) 00:19:07
Total Distance
7.50

Raced this morning, I was kinda nervous because its the first 5k race I've done for a while so I did not know what to expect.  I started out strong and my first mile was a 6:03.9, I trying to keep with Jake and Addison so i started out faster than I thought i was going to.  My second mile was a 6:06.0 I did most of this mile with McKenna because I did not want to lose to a girl... She picked it up around mile 2.  I did the 3rd mile in 6:42.0, that is the one that killed my time. Going up 500 hurt worse than it should have, and I just wasn't feeling it. Cooled down after by running to my house. Later tonight me and Addison did another 4.

Total Distance
8.75

I did 5 this morning with the team, on the way there I stuck with Paul, Nate, and Jake. It was nice and we had a good time, there was a lot of hills. Later tonight I did 3.75 with Jake and henry biked next to us. Hopefully Henry gets good news and is able to run again.  We went at a good pace.

Total Distance
8.00

Did 5 this morning, Levi ran with me and Jake for the first 3 and me and Jake finished it off with doing 2 more. Later tonight I did 3 more miles with Jake, he was really feeling it and hauled the whole way, I was trying as hard as I could to keep up because I had Pizza Pie for dinner and felt like death.  We averaged sub-7, it was good that he was there to push me.

Total Distance
8.00

I did 8 miles today with Jake, we weaved through some neighborhoods to big rock and ran back. We did not go up big rock because we are both racing this weekend and did not want to be to sore for them.

Total Distance
8.00

Another 8 miles today, I ran to Weber where we were meeting as a team. We ran on the Left side of the canal that goes out to the elk ranch. Me, Jake, and Henry maintained a pretty good pace on the way there, and the gate that is usually locked was open. So we were able to go farther than usual, and run up right next to the elk. On the way back we got spread out a bit more, but it was still a good pace. We then stretched as a team and I ran home. My hip was bugging me today, so hopefully it is nothing major and I will be able to race well on Saturday.

Total Distance
7.00

Easy 7 today so I can be ready to race well tomorrow. Did 4 in the morning so we could map out the course for the fundraiser. Later tonight I did and easy 3 with Jake, Brielle, Henry, and McKenna. We ran the course for Cherry Days because they are doing it tomorrow.

Race: Perry City 5k (3.107 Miles) 00:19:06, Place overall: 6, Place in age division: 1
Total Distance
7.00

Woke up at 6 to do a mile shake-out. Once we drove to Perry I did a 1/2 mile warmup with 3 strides. I was kinda nervous at the start line because there were 5 or so runners from Box Elder's XC team. My goal was just to stick with them and last a bit longer at the pace we were going. The race started pretty fast and my first mile was way to fast. I was trying to keep with the pack in front of me becasue it spread out quick. There was a small group about 100 meters in front of me and a couple Box Elder kids were sticking on me pretty well at the first mile. Around a mile and a quarter there was a small hill that I was able to power up and lost the kids who were on my tail. I stayed alone the rest of the race and started reeling a guy in, but he ended up beating me by a little at the end. I ended up beating all the Box Elder kids besides one (he ended up winning the whole thing:) good job to him!), and they were really fun to talk to and meet after the race. I was kinda dissapointed with my time just because it was so close to last week, but it was a much harder course today, so its not to bad. :) My hip hurt after, so I cooled down for a mile and a half and called it good. My splits were 5:56 for the first mile, 6:27 for the second mile, and 6:28 for the third mile.

Total Distance
7.50

Met up with some people at Weber State this morning to run the trails. I went a little easier to recover from my race. Went 4.25 with Holden and found some awesome trails. later tonight me and jake did 3.25 at an easier pace.

Barefoot Miles: 1.00
Total Distance
8.75

Good day today, did a 2 mile tempo with Jake this morning. Started with a 1.5 mile warm-up, then 2 miles which were actually faster than my tempo pace. First mile was a 6:02 and my second was a 6:13. We cooled down for 2 miles and called it good. Later tonight we did 3.25, most of it was barefoot around Barker Park.

Barefoot Miles: 2.50

8 mile long run this morning, hurt a lot more than it should have and it was slower than it should have been. I was running into the wind on the way there and was not feeling motivated at all, I picked up the speed a little more around mile 2. On the way back I picked up the speed more because I was running into the wind, but it still was not fast enough... I stopped at every park I passed on the way home and ran around each one a couple of time at a faster pace. Then I just ran home.

Total Distance
8.00

Did 5 this morning with Jake, Addison, and some other people on north arm trail. It was super muddy and fun. We ran on the road on the way back. Later tonight I did 3 up in Paris Idaho near Bear Lake. Went out and ran without a specific time I wanted to hit. I ended up averaging 6:49 miles and it felt a lot better than yesterday.

Total Distance
8.00

I did 5 this morning around Paris and out to the Bird refuge on some back roads. Later tonight I found a hill and did 5 repeats up it. I finished my 4th one and noticed a mosquito abatement truck about 1/4 mile down the road, so thinking and hoping it would turn before the hill I started my last repeat. I got to the top and the truck was cruising up the hill, so I tried to out run it on the only road there was. I was going at a full sprint for almost a half a mile so that I would not get sprayed with the poison and to shake the truck. I swear the guy driving was trying to chase me and sped up when he saw me... So I would like to thank him for giving me a speed workout after doing hills. :) I ended up going 3 miles.

Total Distance
8.50

I did 3 miles up in Bear Lake before we left, It was not super fast because I was sore from last night and have eaten a lot of junk and have gotten little sleep. Did 5.5 tonight with Henry, it feels good to be home and run where I don't need to worry about getting eaten by dogs haha.

Good training as of late. Stay consistent over the Summer and your short term goals will be attainable. One thing that might help with turn over. Once a week after you do a run I would get to the track or do them in front of your place but do 4-6X30 second all out sprints. This will help increase leg turnover and help you run fast while you are tired. That has been my go to! Good Luck! And come run with us when ever you want just talk to Jon.

From Brayden Youngberg on Thu, Jul 23, 2015 at 15:09:16 from 76.27.4.46

Thanks a ton Ben!!!! I will definitely try that out. It means a lot to me that you guys even know who I am, so I may have to take you up on that offer to run with you guys at least once this summer! Thanks again!

Did 4 miles this morning up the Ben Lomond switchbacks, I felt really good ran part with Jake and Addison. On my way down I rolled my ankle on a rock, because of that I lost my balance and ran into a tree and the side of the mountian... because of that, my foot slipped off the side of the trail. It was awesome, some how I stayed on my feet and did not end up dead in the middle of the trail! Later tonight I did 4 more miles on Canal road and ran up the one awful hill 4 times in the middle of it. My average pace was just below 7 minutes.

Total Distance

Wanted to do a tempo run this morning, so I did a mile warmup. I didn't hit my first mile at all, I wasn't even close haha, but my second mile was above pace and I did a little more than another 1/2 mile at tempo after that. Then I just did a 1/2 mile cool-down.  Later tonight I did an easy 4 with Jake, his knee was bugging him though, so I did 2 laps around the park barefoot to get to 4 miles.

We went to Park City today, so I went an easy 4.5 this morning before we left. I ended up buying 2 new pairs of shoes while I was there, so i did another 3.75 tonight on a treadmill to try them out. It was in miles per hour so i did not really know how fast I was going until I finished, but I started at 8.2 MPH and added 0.1 MPH each quarter mile and 0.2 every half mile and mile. So when I finished I ended up running around 6 minute pace.

Did 5 this morning on the trails  above Weber State with Addison and the rest of the team.  Me, Addi and Gavin got lost for a minute but we found our way back.  Than Addi lead me on some awesome trails. On the way back down I tripped as I was trying to let some Bonneville XC girls pass and hit my knee on the rock. I ended up spralled out in the middle of the trail with a couple girls standing around me.  It was quite embarassing.  I ran just after got home from XC to my brothers soccer practice and that was 1/2 mile.  Later tonight I ran 3 more. I felt really good and ended up averaging 6:45 wth my fastest mile being a 6:15! I ran into Kyler half was through and was able to talk to him for a few minutes. He can finally run again so thats great!

Did 4 this morning on the canal road, averaged around 7 minute miles. Ran up to the track and did what Ben suggested and did some 30 second sprints to increase turnover, so my run this morning ended up being 5. Later this afternoon I did 3.5.

I ran the rest of the time with Gavin and Holden, I can't remember for sure, but I think we averaged 7:10.  Later tonight I ran 3 miles on the canal road and sprinted up a hill then found some other trails. After I got back I ran a lap around the park.

Slower long run tonight, I was at high adventure the past 2 days and was not able to run. It just made me realize how much I mised running when I couldn't do it, but it waas probally good because it let my blister start to heal. I was feeling pretty tired and was feeling sorta sick an low on energy, so it definately was not as fast as I was hoping. I've pretty much only eaten starches and simple sugars the past couple of days and have gotten minimal sleep, so it is good getting back home where I can control that stuff a bit better :)

Woke up this morning and did 3 miles before Cross Country camp. After we got up to Bear Lake for camp we unpacked and went on a run. Jake and Talon did 10, Addison did 9 and Henry, Me, Gavin, Will, Kyler, Mckenna, and some others did 8. It was one of the hardest long runs this summer and my average pace was really slow. Im hoping that is because of the heat, my watch said it was 92 degrees. Will ended up getting pretty cut up becasue as he was running back he was hit by a hay bale that was hanging off of a truck, which knocked him to the ground pretty hard, but he is ok so that is good.

When I got home I did 4 miles on the canal road but my blister was killing me! It got way bigger because of the long run in the heat yesterday, but what can you do right, you just keep going haha. Later tonight I did 3 miles barefoot around the park with Jake and McKenna and averaged a pretty good pace.

We stopped on the way there to look and some goats, which lead us to some pigs we chilled with them for a few minutes and then at some conviently placed porta-potties on the outskirts of town. On our way back we ran through the rodeo grounds and stopped at the pigs again, then found some poor dogs locked up in a cage.

I probally looked pretty crazy running back because my hands and face were covered and dripping with blackberry juice while I was running. How's Webers team looking this year? If you ever go running in the evening time hit me up. If I double for the day I usually hit the canal myself and its usually around 8pm at night.

We decided that a great way to end off our summer training would be to run/hike up Ben Lomond peak. So Me, Jake, Talon, Gavin, and Addison me at 6 AM and started our journey, we only ended up hiking about a mile total, but we did stop and take quite a few breaks. It was super awesome and we passed some awesome people doing the Skyline 50K. It went well and besides Jake and Me tripping, Addison getting stung by a wasp,  and Talon and Gavin almost attacking a Rattlesnake before it ran for its life. it was a great way to end the summer!

Addisons dad pionted out some awesome landmarks/artifacts (rock piles on hills that the pioneers hid behind when the army marched through incase they needed to defend themselfs) and made us some delishious sandwitches. The Torch Run was today where we run a bunch of torches from whatever school we are playig for homecoming. Statrted the day off good with a nice 4.5 mile morning run with Henry. After school we all got on a bus and rode down to Northridge where we started the run. Everyone runs in a group of about 10 people a then hand off to another group after covering 2-3 miles and everyoneusually covers around 4-5 miles. My group was the 3rd one to run and we held a really fast pace on the first leg an averaged sub-6 for 2.75 miles.  The bus left Jake and Talon at a store where they were using the bathroom and before me and Addison had noticed they were missing we were about 3 miles away. So we drove back to find them, but they we already running back and that is how Me, Jake, Talon, Addison, and Henry decided to run extra legs. The longer less steep hill was 0.1 miles and a 34 foot climb and the shorter steaper one was 0.04 miles and a 40 foot climb.

The 24 hour run was a huge success and I ended up running faster and a lot more than I expected. It was freezing cold and hit around 24 degrees at the coldest part of the night. We were all bundled up and freezing under the bleachers in a room. There was a lot of good food that I ate too much of and was getting severly punished for after i finished each mile!!! I felt like my stomach was going to explode. I ended up getting more sleep than expected with around an hour. I wanted a high mileage day but was not expecting on getting 20!! It was great, Me and Derreck hit mile 20 just as the team was hitting mile 200. The 24 hour run is basically a massive relay race where there is one person running a mile at a time on the track. We time all of it and keep track of our splits witch is nice, it always ends up being one of the funnest parts of the season. Sometimes we do shorter intervals that equal up to a mile in large groups such as 2X800's, 4X400's, and occasionally 16x100's. I ended up doing 3 2x800's and I think a 4X400. When we do those we do multiple at the same time sowe all get a mile, so in the 2x800's and such each of us runs an 800 hands the baton to the other person, they hand the baton back to you, and you hand it back to them before handing it back to another person or relay group to run their miles. My splits were: 5:44, 6:01, 6:20, 6:02*, 6:16, 6:05*, 6:31, 6:20, 6:18 6:15, 6:34, 6:40, 6:34, 6:29, 6:23, 5:47*, 6:18*, 6:02, 6:14, 6:08. With my split time all added up I did it in 2 hours 5 minutes and 1 seconds which is a 6:15 average pace. *The mile was the 2 or 4 splits from my relay added together.

Was planning on racing up in the valley today but the road conditions were terrible so I decided to go on a treadmill. We went to my grandparents to eat so I just used their treadmill. I did suprisingly well considering I had ate 3 plate fulls of turkey, ham, and potatoes, along with 3 pieces of pie before I ran. I heard that to get conditions comparable to a road I needed to increase the incline, so I put the incline up to 3 and started my run after a mile warm-up. I kept it on 6 minute pace until a mile left and then I gradually increased it. It hurt and I wanted to slow down, but I wouldn't let my self do it. I cooled down out side because their basement felt like 1,000,000 degrees. As I was cooling down I tripped and fell over in the snow and my whole family made fun of me and my snow/mud covered clothes when I got back. I was pretty happy with how I did, and it was a pretty good Thanksgiving.

Ran the footlocker course at Mt. Sac with Addi, Talon, Gavin, Kyler, and part with Jake and Henry. We had a lot of fun running and messing around the course blasting music from a mini speaker. Talon threw some sweet side flips and front flips, and Gavin set a new course record with an 11:56. I was right next to gavin the entire warmup race but his 200 meter kick was just incredible. I ended up with an 11:59, but I know I can out kick Gavin next year. I think Chili was verry proud that 2 of his runners just broke every record set ever.... hahahahahaha belive that story if you would like, but you should know it is 100 persent false.... I mean true. After setting the record Talon, Me, Addison, and Gavin ran around on some trails we found last year looking for fruit as the rest of the team was waiting in the packet pickup line. After that we went to the beach and a few of us raced the waves and ran around barefoot adventuring on the beach.

The day is finally here. Me and gavin did a mile and a half warmup and then went to the starting line. The race started fast and It was good to know the course and race from last year. I didn't get a great start and got boxed in, tripped and pushed around pretty bad within the first 100 yards. After that the race sperad out and I was able to get up to my pace and make some passes. My first mile was a 5:41 and it was the flattest part of the course. Right after mile one the hills start and I was able to make some more passes. When I came out of that section of the course at about 1.5 miles I thought I was in the hundreds, but Chili yelled that I was in 65th!!! I couldn't belive it and pushed even harder knowing that the rest of the courst is all up and down hill, and that I always run on hills. I knew that this was my time to make a ton of passes. When we came out of the hills with half a mile left Marc yelled that I was in 45th!!! I mad 20 passes in a single mile! I knew that the top 48 metal and I wanted it so I took off. The to kids behind me also heard mark and tried to pick it up and pass me. I made 4 more passes on the way to the way to the finish and got outkicked at the end by 3 other people. I ended in 44th and was given the first metal I have ever gotten. It was fantastic! Gavin had a great race also and ran somewhere around 17:40. After I cooled down and then sprinted around the course cheering for Talon and McKenna who both made it to Nationals!! Talon took 3rd and McKennaa took 9th. Im very proud of them. Out of everyone in the race I took 537th out of over 1000. My splits were 5:41, 6:15, and 6:02.
