Ran fourteen miles today. Today my legs were really tired. I had a very hard time keeping them going, my overall pace was 7:32. I am not sure if it was my ten miler yesterday or i did not get an complete ice bath in. But today's run had a lot more hills than what i am use to, so maybe that is some of the problems. Anyway, not much planned for today, work and get ready for my sermon on Sunday. The pastor is away and i was asked to preach in his place, so now i will be spending a couple of days getting ready. Thanks for reading and have a Friday!

What is your sermomn about?

And about Des News, It is atogh one for a first marathon. However if you run this one well it will make all others righht after less challenging mentally and physically perhaps. Start running a lot of downhills to get your quads used to it. If you do this your muscles will start to release a protective enzyme that will guard your muscles against soreness and acute damage. Not perfectly but much more so than if you did no downhill training at all. It is partly why Sasha dominated the race for a few years even being a relatively slower runner at short distance. It helped me run that PR at Ogden in 2007 also. Hope this helps. Good luck if yoou choose to run this race. By the way, How do you know Sasha is not running Des News for sure?

Steve,

Thanks for all your help, you are awesome! My sermon title is “Achieving you Dreams.” The book that I am getting a lot of my information is called “The last Lecture” this is an awesome book. Here is the website to listen to the lecture that is played on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo If you have a chance this is really an awesome lecture to listen too. Some of my question I have wanted to ask you has to deal with my training. This is kind of the schedule that I am going by and would like your advice on 60, 70 then 80 miles a week, then back to 60, 70 and 80. What would you suggest for my long runs for each of these weeks? Also, would you suggest taking one day off a week, or would it hurt me to run seven days a week. I am having a really hard time figuring out this running thing. I am not sure how much to run each day or week, well just say that I do a lot of guessing and when I get off track Kory comes in and helps me to get back on track again. I really like running the half marathon, but I would like to run one full marathon and not kill myself. Also, qualifying for Boston has been on my mind and something I would like to do. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, but I had forgotten my questions and I had to rethink them. Also, about Sasha not running the Desert news. Well here is the day that Kory was asking Sasha about running Desert news http://sasha.fastrunningblog.com/blog--A-M-Ran-with-Jeff-He-had-job-inter/06-23-2009.html . Thanks for all your help and I hope I made sense, if not please feel free to ask me to clarify.

Sam,

I think i just had a lot of lactic acid build up in my legs. Was it you that was telling me about wanting to watch the movie transformers 2, if so have you seen it yet?

Steve,

I have another question for you in regards to ice bath. How long do you suggest taking one? I usually take one for 20 minutes. I would like to know your thoughts on it.

Thanks,

Barry
