Had a great run with Kory. I ran eight miles at a 6:33 pace and was feeling good. I had a couple of times i could feel something, but I think i have a sinus infection. But the course we ran is a fast one so i am glad to be back to normal, almost. Not much planned for today, movie (Step Father), spook alley and dancing. I usually don't like watching movies about evil Step Father because i am a Step Father, but it was a good movie. Had a good time with the wife. All my Step Kids are older, 26, 23 and 22 so no trick r treating.Anyway, I am still thinking about running the Just Cuz 1/2 marathon next week and try to run it for fun, but i know me and i would run it like a normal race. Any suggestions for running it or not? Thanks and have a great day!!!! :-)

I have done races and been very good and stuck to the plan.... its hard you have to be strong minded, last one I did was a 20 miler I had to run 15 miles at 8 min pace in a race ouch it was hard but i did it, only because coach said I can hammer the last 5 miles which I did and did I hammer it and it was great passing everyone running at close to 6 min pace nearly getting a pb for 5miles ! so I would plan something similar and stick to it as if you go and think I will do it for fun the gun goes off and you dont have a proper plan you will race it like I have done in the past.

Happy days and great training today :-)

I agree with Sam. If you decide to run it take the first 7 miles easy, maybe 7 minute pace or higher. Than hammer the last 5 miles.

Here's how I can see how this would be encouraging:

1. You will feel like you were successful at staying at a great pace the last 5 miles.

2. The run has no meaning because you did a 5 mile tempo.

3. Your definitely going to pace runners.

4. You won't be disappointed that if you tried hammering it in the beginning and die at the end like the last 3-4 miles, because of the training you lost being sick.

5. You still will have a decent time.

Thank you both for your help. Yesterday the doctor and i figured that i have lost 25% of my overall fitness. So this race Saturday will not be a PR, but i am still going run. Plus, i have been having trouble with my breathing and the doctor helped me with that and i am schedule for an vitamin IV for Friday. I feel that the IV will help me so i don't get sick again. But now the hard part is trying to keep myself at a slower speed in the beginning because the first five to six miles is down hill. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.
