Quality for the Olympic Trials in the marathon Personal: I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.
I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)
I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Saltair 5K (3.07 Miles) 00:18:40, Place overall: 1 | | AM - Saltair 5K (6:03, 6:00, 6:12, :22). Course was ~10 seconds short. I was happy with my effort and how I felt physically throughout the race. I had a few guys to run with the first mile and then it was a solo effort the rest of the way. The third mile was slower which can be attributed to lack of longer or faster runs. This was probably the best conditions at any Saltair race - cold (30 degrees) but no wind and sunny. Warm up of 2 miles and cooldown of 1 mile.

USATF Utah Cross Country Championships (3.2 Miles) 00:20:40, Place overall: 1 | | USATF Utah XC Champs (6:06, 6:32, 6:35, 1:28 for ~0.2).
I haven't raced in a cross country race in many years, and I forgot how challenging it is to run fast on grass. I went out too hard in the beginning then struggled to maintain ~6:30 pace. It's hard to know if I'm getting in better shape or not, but I felt like I ran hard today. The course was 4 loops and the weather was perfect. Next up: annual work turkey trot on Thursday!

BD Turkey Trot 5K (3.107 Miles) 00:19:15, Place overall: 1 | | Annual BD Turkey Trot 5K - 19:15 (5:56, 6:18, 6:09, :52)
Won a turkey :) Pretty happy with my performance - I felt strong. This is a tough double-loop course with an 80ft hill...the same course as always for work 5ks. I have run it so many times that I almost enjoy the course now. I did convince the wellness coordinator to move back the finish line so it would not be too short as it has been in the past. The last mile was my best effort, so that's a good indication that I'm improving.
Talk about improvement - I ran this in 28:50 last year! And it was really, really hard - granted, I was only 2 months out from major surgery....but it makes me really happy to be feeling so much better in comparison.

Newtown Turkey Troy (3.107 Miles) 00:19:20, Place overall: 1 | | Newtown Turkey Trot 19:20 (6:30, 5:50, 6:20) It was much colder than we expected this morning - 23 degrees. Ran a 2 mile warm-up then straight into the race. My feet and hands went numb by the first mile and I was too cold to run a fast 5k. I was hoping to run ~18:45 but I ran a solid effort and am honestly happy to be able to run faster in general. My "season of 5ks" this fall is done just in time for ski season.
