Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc. 

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

5th Annual BD 5K. I've done a total of two miles fast in the last 7 months and it was quite hot outside so I had a feeling that was going to be brutal. And it was! My legs still felt dead from all the skiing and moving and running over Memorial Day weekend. I started out way too fast on the downhill mile (5:46) then kept a relatively consistent pace for the last two hilly miles (6:27, 6:27). Limiting factor was fitness, not structural which is a great sign. This has really motivated me to want to get in better running shape...which probably won't happen until after the wedding and honeymoon, but hopefully by the fall :)

PM - Jake volunteered us to run one of his doctor's dogs (he came up to my waist!) so we did couple miles with him then added a bit after. The doctor and his dog moved here from Kansas a month ago..turns out dogs are affected by altitude just like people when it comes to exercise b/c he was struggling!

AM - Hike to Pen Y Fan, 5 miles...it was cloudy/rainy so we didn't get any view at the top but saw lots of sheep!

AM - Another 5 miles on the Mawddach Trail in Dolgellau. This was our favorite little town!

PM - POURING. We thought about waiting it out to climb some mountains in Snowdonia but then saw the forecast for 5+ inches in 3 days! So we decided to head to the coast. We stopped on our way at Coed Y Brenin and went for an umbrella hike to see some waterfalls.

AM - Ran on the Ridgeway Trail in Chiltern area of natural beauty. 

This was the breakfast we had every morning at the B&Bs...don't be fooled by the "black pudding" - it's fat, grains, and pigs blood! Grosssss. Jake thought it was healthy!

AM - I was missing the horsepark loop so Jake and I ran there and did a bunch of laps, 13.5 miles. Longest run in quite a long while. One of these days we will get more exciting with running...just too much other stuff to do (like try to open our front door for 2 hours with no success!).
