Just a reminder, I'm coming off of a pregnancy. I had baby number 2 in december ( Hannah). And for some reason I'm more motivted to get back into running after this daughter then I was after my first daughter, Eveyln. I think it's because more weight has piled on me and I want to go back to being healthy and energetic. After Evelyn I ran and did some races but never put in the effort to run a solid race. I realized if I don't do it now it'll never happen. So I'm going to track my progress with this blog and hopefully see some results in the future.
Monday I ran 3.3 miles in my neighborhood.
My first mile had some uphill, which is killing me right now. The first mile was 10:13

I also have 36 pounds to lose along the way. Hopefully that'll come off as I exercise and stay away from fattening foods and treats. |

| | Today I jogged on the treadmill while my baby slept and my 2 year old colored by me. My calves were sore from yesterday. I think I'll go for a walk later when the kids are in bed and Riley is home. |

Today I went to my friend Sariah Long's house and she whipped me with her boot camp exercises. It was 45 minutes of different exercises most of which included some weights that basically worked every muscle in my entire body. For someone who's out of shape it was difficult. We also did some abs at the very end. I felt uncoordinated and after it was over I felt like a 90 year old woman, moving slowly and complaining about how tired I was. But it was worth it. I hope to do this a couple of times a week with her.
In the evening when Riley got home from work I jogged 2.4 miles at a 10 mintue pace I was pretty worn out from boot camp but wanted to get an short run in. |

| | I jogged 26 minutes on the treadmill I don't know the exact mileage because we have an old treadmill but it was probably about 2 miles. My leg muscles were really sore from boot camp yesterday. |

| | Today I met up with Sariah again to do her weight lifting/crossfit exercises. It worked different muscles, so tomorrow every muscle in my body will be sore. I'm going to pass on running today so tomrrow I can get a 45 minute run in. That'll be my longest to date. |

I ran 4.2 miles at an average pace of 9:35. It was a really nice day and I felt pretty sore from weight training this week but I was happy with my run. |

I pushed the kids in the double jogger this afternoon. I ran for 36 minutes and did 3.4 miles. It works out to be an average pace of 10:35 a mile. That's pretty good for me and it was the first time pushing them in the stroller.Riley doesn't want me to have any excuse not to run so he bought me a nice Bob double jogging stroller, yes Riley I can take a hint ;) It was a good workout. I'm planning on going to Sariah's boot camp tonight. Her husband thinks it'll ruin our friendship, I guess she's pretty tough to her clients. But I'll try not to take it personally.

| | Today was a good workout day. I ran 4 miles at an average pace of 10:15. It took me 41 minutes I was also pushing my kids again. Then I went to Sariah's house and did boot camp with her. We worked arms, legs, and did crunches for an hour. |

| | This afternoon Riley pushed the kids in the stroller while I jogged next to him. We averaged 9:35 pace for 4.26 miles. |

| | I wanted to run at least 3 miles today but there were some bathroom complications so I had to cut it short. But I did workout with Sariah today, my muscles are starting to adapt to the exercises we do. I'm not as sore as when we started out. |

| | I really wanted to run on the trails today because of the nice weather. So I parked at Beus Pond and ran on the lower trails from there. It was a lot harder running on the trails then I remember but I got 5 more miles in for the week. It was a good week of running for me. I'll take tomorrow off and start again on Monday. |

I felt good on my run today. I ran 3.68 miles at an average pace of 9:16. My first mile was 9:47 2nd was 8:47 and my 3rd was 8:51. I also did boot camp with Sariah today, we focused on just arms. We did 3 sets of 4 different exercises plus abs. Before we were doing 3 sets of 3 different exercises. I'm starting to feel a little lighter. Weight is coming off slow but at least it's coming down. |

| | I watched Sariah and Katie's kids while they did mile repeats. Then after they got back I ran 3miles at a 9:26 pace. I felt pretty sluggish today but I might try and get 2 more miles in later if I can. |

Today I went over to Hill air force base and ran on the treadmill in the gym. Based on the treadmill I was running 9 minute pace. I was extremely sweaty when it was over.
Later I went to boot camp and we focused just on legs for 50 minutes. Then did abs. I'm sure I'll be sore from that tomorrow. |

| | I tried out some new shoes Riley got me today. They feel pretty good, they're asics. I've always liked asics. I ran 4.02 miles today around South Weber. My miles were, 9:37, 9.09, 9:40, 9:34. My average pace is starting to come down. |

| | Its been hard this week to get some runs in because Riley has been gone and the weather not so good for pushing. Today though I was all set to push the kids in the stroller when my mother in law offered to watch them so I could run. So I went over to her house and saw Sariah pushing her baby near the house and we decided to run together. It was the last 2 miles of Sariah's run and even with her pushing we were going about 7:30 pace which was fast for me but it was a good workout for me. After I left her I ran around 8:30 pace the rest of the run. |

Riley was out of town and this was the week my 4 month old decided not to sleep well at night or during the day. Well I had to take a long time off because of this weird injury I was having. I strained a muscle in my lower back and I couldn't run for a few weeks without it hurting. Last week I ran 1 to 2 miles every other day and I felt normal again. So I think I can start back up but not run everyday yet and keep my mileage low. My goal is to do a 5k in August. I'll probably do the one my town puts on the South Weber 5k. I want to keep it simple for awhile and see how that goes. I just need to make sure I stretch good and ice after every run.

| | I only ran once last week. We were at a family reunion all week doing different activities. I thought it was a good opportunity to not run and see if I can get rid of that injury completely. It seemed to help because today I didn't feel it at all and had a good run with Riley. My pace was 8:13 but I threw in some 1 minute surges. I did 4 of them. My first surge put me down at 7:10 pace, my second I didn't see, my 3rd was just under 7 minute pace, and my last one was my longest and fastest. I finished with a quarter mile at 6:25 pace. It was a pretty encouraging run. |

This morning I had my sister in law watch the kids while I met up with Sariah and Katie to run a tempo run. It was a tempo run for me and an easier run for them. They were pushing kids. I did 1 mile warm up, 3 miles of tempo, then 1.5 miles of cool down. Sariah was helpful in getting me through. I didn't know how fast I should start out so Riley suggested 7:15. That was the goal I set for myself.

It's been awhile since I ran under 7 minute pace so my legs had a hard time getting going. My watch measured 3.24 at the end so I figured out online with my average pace of 6:47, I ran about 21:04 for 3.1. That's a good start for me. Hopefully I can continue to improve. I was the 4th female overall and first in my age group. The first two runners were really fast I wasn't expecting to compete or be up with them at all. But during the race I went back and forth with the 3rd place girl. I passed her about 1 mile into the race and thought she was way behind me, and then I let myself relax a little too much and she passed me with a mile to go and I couldn't catch her again. But i'm happy with my time. I ended up getting 8 miles in for the day too. |

I did a workout today 6x400s. I did them on the road up in Shadow Valley and I wasn't sure on my pace, so my odd intervals were going on a downhill and my even intervals were at an uphill. But I was pretty happy with the effort anyway. I'm still trying to figure out my garmin but I found a program to use on my watch, it beeped every time I ran a quarter of a mile but it didn't tell me my pace. I didn't see how fast I ran until after I was done.

snow canyon half (13.1 Miles) 01:26:54, Place in age division: 5 | | After we all got sick in my household Thursday I thought for sure we were not going to come down and run snow canyon. I even cancelled our babysitter. But still, riley was determined to get me down there to race. So we decided at 12 on Friday to take the kids and give it a shot. Nothing went well the whole weekend so I had low expectations going into the race but still I decided I would try my best because I worked hard in the weeks coming up to the race to get to where I was at. It was a beautiful course. I was trying to be conservative the first few miles but I couldn't help put let the downhill take me as I ran faster mile splits then I thought I would. The whole race was great and I felt like I was flying until mile 10 my energy was gone so I gutted out the rest of the race the best I could. My goal was 1:30 and I ran 1:26:54. I'm happy with the result and have a good starting point to work from. |

Turkey Leg 5K (3.13 Miles) 00:19:26, Place overall: 1 | | Riley and I signed up for a 5K on Thanksgiving in Farmington. Originally, we thought it was a flat course but mile 2 of the race was pretty beastly. My goal for this race was 19:30, still not knowing it had hills. The day before we went and picked up our packets and quickly drove the course to see that it was not flat. So then I was hoping just to win the $50 dollar visa card that was up for grabs and just run the 5k hard. The race started and most of the first mile was pretty flat the last little bit of the first mile had an uphill, I clocked 5:55 for mile 1. Then mile 2 was the challenge, two big rolling hills the first half of that mile, then a gradual uphill the second half this mile, I knew I would be slower so I didn't bother looking at my watch and just tried to push through hard on those uphills, mile 2 ended up being 6:45. A good downhill got me going for mile 3 then It evened out again and I ended up with a 6:06. and then .39 the last .13 of the race. I was pleasantly surprised to be under my original goal which leads me to believe, if this course were flat I would've been well under 19 minutes. And I happily won with the next girl finishing about 30 to 40 seconds behind me. Really happy with how this race turned out.

Got on the treadmill this afternoon. It's hard to judge how many miles I did I just went by minutes and guessed I did 4.5 miles since my treadmill is inaccurate. I ran 38 mintues total. 10 minute warm up and then did 3 reps of 6:10 fast since I was supposed to do my mile repeats at 6:10 pace. Then cooled down a few minutes.

| | This weeks workouts just haven't panned out because of the weather we've been having. I've had to just do effort for the amount of time I'd normally spend on these workouts. Today I was meeting up with Sariah at 8:30 but it was 7 degrees out so she suggested going indoor because we both were planning a tempo run. Terry watched my kids so Sariah and I warmed up to the Dee Events center and decided to run in there, which brought back some painful memories of the old days at Weber doing workouts for indoor track. But we decided it would be a better workout then trying anything outside. So we just decided we'd do a hard effort for the amount of time it would take each of us to run a tempo run. We did a 2 mile warm up, a couple strides, then I ran hard for 24:44. It felt like it was a good effort and that I was going faster then I would've on the roads. Cool downn 2.1 miles

| | I ran early in the cold this morning, spent the night at my inlaws so they could be there with the kids while they slept, turns out both my girls woke up right after I left anyway. But the plan was to run 15 miles step progression. The first 3 miles were a warm up, the next 3 at 7:35, the next 4 at 7:20 pace, then the next 3 7:05 pace and then two miles easy. It turned out pretty well here's my splits for the faster miles, First 3 (7:23,7:27,7:28)Next 4 miles (7:12,7:16,7:16,7:17) Next 3 miles (6:56,7:10,7:05) My 7:10, 7:05 miles were hard because I was running on a gradual uphill, I didn't plan that out very well. But It was a good quality run for me in the cold weather.

| | Ran the first half of my run with a group, Janae, Katie, Angie, and Jasmine. I joined up late with them so I finished the last half on my own. The last 3 miles of the run were supposed to be a fast finish, I did 6:22, 6:22, then 6:49. The last mile just didn't happen but a good run overall.

| | It's been a tough day trying to get a run in. My baby is sick so we can't venture out anywhere. I was stuck doing a treadmill run today, but with a sick baby it's hard to find the times to do it since she wanted to be snuggled in my arms rather then in her crib taking a nap. I managed a 30 minute run this morning on the treadmill. Then got back on in the afternoon to do another 40 minutes but I got 18 minutes in and the power went out in my house. That's my luck so I'm calling it 6 miles today.

| | I did 8x600s with Katie today. The goal was 2:06 for each 600 with 1:45 rest. We warmed up two miles. Splits were 2:02, 2:03, 2:05, 2:06, 2:04, 2:07, 2:06, 2:06. It's hard for me to find pace when I'm doing faster intervals. I wish I would've had time to do 2 more because I finally felt like I had the pace down towards the end.

| | Ran with Sariah, Angie, Katie, and Merrilee in the snow. Really slippery this morning but had fun with the group. We ventured onto railroad tracks, and almost got hit by a car.

| | Ran a workout this morning 3x2 mile repeats with 3 min jog in between. 2.1 mile warm up. Splits (6:13, 6:17) (6:06, 6:11) (6:10, 6:12) I was running into a strong headwind on those second miles in each set. Pretty happy with the workout. 2 mile cool down. |

| | Didn't run on Christmas because I ate all day and enjoyed being around family. Tried to do an aeorobic builder today. I did a two mile warm up and made 4 miles doing well then an idiot man shot his gun to close for comfort towards me and I was startled and stopped. I couldn't quite yell at him for being reckless he was farther up on the mountain. After that I couldn't get going again. I was to flustered. So I just finished at a steady 7:15. My first 4 miles were 6:50, 6:46, 6:38, 6:30. |

| | I wanted to do a workout today 4x 1miles I started the first one and felt terrible so I bagged it for today. That's how it's been the last few days of running. I haven't been feeling well at all, I went home and slept and felt a little better. Maybe I'm worn out from holidays and eating junk, not sure what's wrong.
