AM: Running from me casa to the top of Memory Grove. Hip flexor wasn't tight at all!

PM: Lil running, lil biking, and mega glute workout at PT. My PT beat the crap out of my glutes and piriformis. I think it was punishment for slacking on my at home exercises.

Glutes were super sore from PT yesterday so wanted to bike some flats. Rode from my house to Lagoon and back via some ghetto streets, Jordan River Prkwy, and Legacy.

Early AM RUN up Memory Grove before today's climbing adventure. So not stoked to put my feet into climbing shoes for the first time in well over a year. Never thought I wouldn't be stoked on climbing. Now all I want to do is ride my road bike. Funny how things change.

AM: Woke up with weird creaky foot pain, but still managed an almost for real TRAIL RUN on the BST!

PM: Biked from me casa to Millcreek area and then around in circles for a bit, ate some pizza, and then rode home. Awesome new bike lane on 300 East!

AM: Rode up City Creek Canyon and around the Aves. Crazy ball of fire sunrise. Fabulous morning. I heart PT!

After reading the 50 Lessons Learned from 50 Days of Running, I've decided to embark on my own running streak (even if it is for only 5 minutes a day). I am hoping that may get me out of my lack of interest in running funk. Well it isn't necessarily a lack of interest, but more of a trying to figure out what direction I want to take with running contemplative funk since I am starting to accept the fact that running might not be the best thing for my old lady joints.

Of course there is no formula for success except, perhaps, an unconditional acceptance of life and what it brings. ~Arthur Rubinstein

PM: First ever RUN-Chocolate-RUN! Ran from 2nd to 11th on B Street in the rain dodging down trees. Pace was 9:35 (not bad for all uphill), 8:46, 8:50. Stopped at 1.4 miles to pick up some goods at the chocolate shop for the free showing of The Princess Bride outside the Capitol tonight! I think the streak is already working its magic :)

Fasciitis-ness is official. My PT said he wasn't surprised because of my personality. Still trying to figure out what that means... I know I haven't been the most patient patient, but I still think I have been pretty positive and compliant. I don't think my 9 days of running in a row was the smartest thing, but of course I didn't tell my PT I did that. Seriously this hip thing has taken a year, who wouldn't go a little nuts-o?!?

My Mont Blanc trek might be turning into a beach vacation slash winery tour.

Watched 3 movies today and rested my fascia! That doubled the amount of movies I have seen in all of 2012...

Rode from Mountain Green to Huntsville around the Pineview Reservoir with a quick detour up the Powder Mountain Road (until I realized how steep it was) and then up to Snowbasin and back down to Mountain Green. 5300+ feet of climbing. Stoke!!!

AM: Rode up Emigration in the dark to watch the first few runners of Des News crest Little Mountain. I almost got hit by a deer on my way up, which would have been one crazy story. Then I rode in circles around the marathon course cheering on all you amazing FRB-ers. Congrats to all the runners - what an awesome day!

PM: PF feet PT. PT advises no running or hiking for another week. I don't know if I agree.

Easy cruise around town. My legs feel like gelatinous slugs. Maybe it has to do with the 10,000+ feet of climbing this week. That is a lot for my little legs :)

Now just a lot of sitting around drinking lattes and getting fat while I wait for my freaking fascia to heal :(

Will someone please send me some stoke? I seem to have lost mine...

AM: Rode from my house to Elbow Fork up Millcreek. Met up with some FRB-ers running around for a bit, but they were too slow :) I thought about riding up Emigration on my way home. Maybe later...

PM: Hiking fail. Poor feets, but pretty wildflowers.

The one solid lesson I have learned this past year is that nothing ever goes as planned. A few months ago I bought a plane ticket to Switzerland with the goal of hiking the entire Mont Blanc Circuit. It was my reward for enduring my hip surgery/recovery thing and acted as some serious motivation to getting solid and strong. And well three weeks ago my feet hurt with the first few steps in the morning and now yesterday I couldn't even hike 2 miles. I would call the heel pain quite crippling and it isn't getting any better so time to start thinking about what the heck I am going to do in 3 weeks. As far as I see it I have 3 options.

1) Suck it up. Maybe I am just a wuss. Do trip as planned. Wash down lots of ibuprofen with red wine.

2) Beach vacation. Europe is a big place. There has to be something besides trekking Mont Blanc that I would enjoy.

3) Eat my plane ticket. Honestly I am not really a spend all day in museums kind of person so not going is a real option for me right now. I am using all my vacation time to do this trip so if I can't do the kind of trip I want to do, why go? I think I might be happier spending a long weekend riding my bike in the Sawtooths and soaking in the Salmon River than sitting on my butt in Europe.

Hopefully the feets get magically better in the next week and I won't have to make any decision at all :)
