So I haven't ran lately because of laziness and I left my shoes in my friends car, but thats not really an excuse. But I have goals! I want to run at least 5 or 6 days a week, at at least 4 miles a day starting out. Of course I want to work up from there but this will be my goal for now. I want to be healthier and more and shape!!! And get to an under 20 5k, which is totally possible in the near future. | |

Went with Aaron to get some lilikoi in the jack pot spot. We got about a million! Haha, and it was a fun run and I initiated my new white shoes into the hawaiian mud. My new shoes are New Balance stability trainers... now I have New Balance trainers, Mizuno trail shoes and some old Asics 2120s. Just trying to experiment with new shoes... they all seem good to me so far.

| a.m.- ran the usual laie park loop, 3mi. I got semi-lost this time because I was trying to go another way but it brought me back to the same loop. p.m.- XC practice. It was pretty hard today. 15 min warm-up, then a bunch of crazy exercises without stopping, then running at 10mph for 3 minutes. Same pattern repeated with 2 1/2 min, 2 min, and 1 1/2 min, then I cooled down for 8 minutes. On the 2 1/2 one I only went for 2 and I skipped the 2 minute one. It was scary running that fast on a treadmill. I feel like I need to get in a lot better shape. I'm not really sure about mileage for this day but I just guessed. | |

I have made a goal to lose weight! Its really sad that I've stopped running so much as to gain this much weight, but I have. I have been eating a lot too because it is Hawaii and I'm in college; food is my atmosphere. So sadly my goal is to lose 14 pounds because that is how much I've gained since I've been here. Tomorrow is my first day of discipline! I'm going to run at least four times a week and eat healthier. My first 10k! It was... interesting! We got down to the race late because Kim wasn't ready on time (grr), and when we got on the marine base the marines gave us vague directions to the race... SO we ended up by a playground and looked up and everyone ran past. We found the sign in place and got our packets and I took off my sweats and hurried and pinned my number on and started really late. Me and Kim darted off and I started running in the wrong direction on a dirt track and had to hurry and turn around, and I slipped and cut up my knees pretty bad and got all muddy. So, muddy and bleeding, I started on my way. The first couple miles I was thinking about stopping and just going home, and I took my time and stopped to find my way a couple times. I started getting into it after I caught up with people, though. It took me 18 minutes to catch up to the guy in last place. In the middle I wiped my face and got my face all muddy. My time was 57 something because I started so late. It felt good after I was done! | |

Went on a run to Tamura's and back, my legs were weak and awkward. It felt like I needed to relearn how to run. I went slow and walked a lot, the run is supposed to be a little less than 5 mi.
Just wanted to say how blessed I am! Yesterday I had no food and no way of getting ahold of people for food and I prayed I'd be able to eat, and then when I was walking home from the fireside a lady looked at us and said "Hey you want food? I'll feed you! Come on and I'll make you some food, no shame." !!! It was a big polynesian family having a get together before a funeral. Also, I couldn't find anywhere to live and a few days before I was being kicked out I randomly went to someone's house and her roommate had been looking for someone to sell her contract to. AND today when I was walking home from the grocery store with all my food groceries, a lady stopped and gave me a ride home. I know this is a running blog but I just would like to say how grateful I am and that the Lord is looking after me! | |

| We woke up at 3:30 this morning to do Stairway to Heaven! It was really fun, we didn't get all the way up though because Paul's ear popped and started bleeding and he puked so we all went back. It was the most amazing and beautiful thing. (The mountain and the view, not Paul's puke and ear blood). Its just a metal staircase (ladder in some places) that goes all the way up a mountain. Hopefully we'll go back soon! |

My friend was one who would always tell me I should go running, or tell the person I would be running with to make me go farther because I would feel more accomplished if I did. I remember his face when I told him that I ran to Waimea Bay, about 14 miles from Laie. He admired my running and always commented on my muscular legs. He also told me I have cute knees and pretty toes. I have jacked up runners toes with toenails that have grown back weird. Right now I miss my friend more than anything and I want to make him proud. He is one of the best friends I've ever had and it's really hard without him, but I will continue aiming for my goals and will run on in his memory. | |

VICTORY! We had our first successful long run. It was a toughie but we both pulled through, and only stopped once! We tried to make it eight but I'm really unsure how long it really was, but it was somewhere around there. Ran from my house, to Punalu'u and back to Chris's in Hau'ula. We are going to start training long... and play racquetball every other day! Or whatever the heck we want. I ate three pieces of pizza after the run (thanks Chris) and was still hungry, but the pizza was still great. And I just found some candy on the windowsill.

Basically, Chris got second and I finished third and we got free muffins and won shrimp in Kahuku. p.m. Ran from Sunset to Waimea and back. It was a nice, beautiful, breezy, sunny, relaxing, and enjoyable run. About 6.5ish or something. We are cool because we ran all the days we needed to this week. Then we ate shrimp. Yee!

| It was actually a little over 6.2 but not by much. I felt like superwoman, or like I should be on Gattaca or something. I started out at 9 mp/h thinking "I can't really be going 9 miles an hour", but I ran like that for 1.15 ish miles til I accidentally pushed the wrong button and stopped the machine. I started back up again and ran for another mile at that pace, then a mile at 8 mp/hr, one at 8.5, one at 8, then the last mile was at 8.5 for .3 mi, then up to 9.2 for a while, then up to 10 miles an hour the last .2 ish. I felt crazy. Good run. I have to run a 10k on Friday. | |
