5.12 miles in 7:39 overall pace.  Was limping the first mile, because of trying to play football with my son and trying to move in different ways that the leg isn't ready for yet so it was real sore.  But I would do it again because I miss playing with the kids outside.

Only reason I ran faster is I had to be back to take my daughter to school.

Ran with Barry today and we took it easy in the beginning for the 6.23 mile run.

8:35, 8:00, 7:49, 7:44, 7:52 7:12.  The last 300m's  I was doing a 6:25 pace and it was hard.  The leg just feels real heavy and I just hung on.

I'm doing the Law Day race this Saturday so I will cut-back on the running.   Tomorrow 5 miles, Thursday 4 miles and Friday 2 miles.  I'm not racing but I have a goal pace that would be nice to reach.  I know this will be an emotional run for me.  Just need to make sure my leg is well rested leading up to it.

It's hard to accept a pace you used to run so easy is now an exciting accomplishment.

You know I specify these as easy miles, but really nothing is easy on Mr. Titanium leg.   The miles are tough every time but I just make myself get through it and stay determined.

6.21 miles at an overall 7:46 pace in 48:18 minutes.  I'm really surprised how my pace is now dropped and is in the 7 minute range.  I'm very humbled and grateful.  Leg and knee were really sore afterwards. I have pain in the knee where the screws were inserted.  I've had this pain off and on the last couple days.  Taking it easy the next couple of days so I can have fun at the fun run/race and not be in pain.

 Splits:  8:38, 7:40, 7:38, 7:39, 7:35, 7:27

Very easy run.  Just resting a bit to run the Law Day race Saturday.  Again no expectations because I'm recovering and that's where it needs to stay.

This is something I've been waiting to do for a while post a racing report. A lot of emotion has gone into this race. It all starts 8 months ago since my accident where my Femur was shattered and I have 5 screws and a titanium rod in my left leg. This is from the result of being hit by a driver who had his license revoked and wasn't paying attention. This destroys any chance of racing soon. The process has been long and hard with pushing myself ahead of schedule in the rehab. I wake up in pain every day getting the leg ready to run. Was it worth it for the passion of running?

RACE CONDITIONS: The weather was raining and about 40 degrees but I ran in shorts and a short sleeve shirt with arm warmers. I knew this might make the course slower because there was also a little bit of a headwind but nothing to hurt times. This is a point to point course so no break.

RACE: Here we go! My friend Bill was so nice to run the race with me at any pace I wanted because he wanted to be a part of my first race back. The only goal I had was to average at least a 7:30 pace which I thought was doable (maybe). I ran the course last week at a 7:49 pace but that wasn't pushing it as hard but it was not easy either. I did a little jog before the race to get ready for the uphill and flat course.

MILE 1: I got warmed up and my form was an uneven stride favoring the leg a bit as always for the first mile of any run, but I did the first flat mile in 7:46. That was the fastest first mile I've done since the accident in any start of a run.

MILE 2-3: These miles are flat with an uphill then pretty much flat the rest of the way. The stride was getting more smooth and better. My splits were 7:38, 7:24.

MILE 4: is uphill so it was a little harder so I knew the split might be slower. The uphill has always caused a little bit more pain on the leg but manageable at 7:26.

MILE 5: Okay I was holding back and the leg felt good so I thought why not bust out some faster miles so Bill and I did mile 5 in 6:44. I noticed that my right shoe lace was undone at mile 4 and a half, but I wasn't going to stop.

MILE 6: The emotion kicked in and I was excited and started passing runners and crying because I was excited being a runner again. My friend Bill said he couldn't go faster than a 6:30 so I left him and finished the last mile at a 6:10 for an overall 7:15 average for the race. I was 9th out of over 200 runners.

Lots of emotion when I finished and just feeling like I accomplished something that God deserves all honor. I was so excited and congratulated by a lot of runners.

Then I watched my wife come in from the 5k and then Bill and I did a 3 mile cool-down back to my car. Very successful day and emotional and just overall happy to be a runner again and have family and friends watch.

Thanks Bill for your company you kept me motivated and confident.  Your a tremendous runner.

Ran 6.02 miles today in the rain at an overall 7:37 pace in 45.55 minutes.  The splits were consistently lower each mile except for the last where I wanted to end slow.

8:23, 7:51, 7:37, 7:32, 6:55, 7:26.

The first mile is always a painful struggle, because my form is uneven and I compensate on the leg.  But once I get warmed up it gets better.  The 6:55 mile isn't exactly easy.  The leg I think prevents me to seeing where my fitness really is.  Because I don't breathe hard at that pace.

I'm amazed and humbled how far I've come.  I get so emotional just to be able to run.

Ran with Barry very slow today. My knee was sore from yesterday so I took it easy.  Ran 6.22 miles at a 8:06 overall pace in 50:27 minutes.  Did the last two miles faster 7:52 and 7:21.

Tomorrow I'll probably run another 6 miles.  Daughter has district track me that I'm about to head to.  She's running the 3200m.

Anything under a 7 minute mile for me right now is a marathon or threshold pace :-).  Did get some faster miles in today.

Did 6.25 miles in a 7:37 overall pace in 47:40 minutes.  Did the last two miles in 6:53 and 6:39.  My rod knee log was hurting a bit today.  I'm just pathetic in my times and this leg just feels like a brick  and doesn't want to go faster when I try to sprint or accelerate.  Oh well running for fun is good.

Sidenote:  My daughter did a 14:07 in the two mile.  She ran the first mile in 6:37.  Not her best time.  She's trying to gain her fitness back a bit from being sick and I just think not doing enough speed work.

 She runs the mile today.

It was close to 40 degrees so I wore shorts and a long sleeve and north face jacket.  I know a stupid combination.  Really was too warm and could have done without the jacket.

Ran 7.38 miles at an overall 7:49 pace in 57:40 minutes in my new Saucony Tangent 4 shoes.   Did the last couple miles faster 7:35, 7:05.  I'm still slow like a fat water buffalo.

Did 7 miles again today with Barry at an overall 7:40 pace in 54:07.  I tried picking it up the last 100m's but the leg is so heavy that it's hard.  It's all just a matter of patience and seeing the progress each day.  The temperature was around 34 degrees.  Did the last splits at 7:29, 7:16, 7:12, 7:13.

Ran 5.41 miles in 40:22 minutes at an overall 7:28 pace with only having 4 hours of sleep. 8:16, 7:36, 7:28, 7:10, 6:44.  Had to work last night putting on security patches till 5am this morning.  Took all night because of a corrupted disk archive problem that was caused by one of our staff.  I fixed the problem because of the experience I have at dealing with these situations like this in the past.

Ran with Barry at 4:50am because I had to be at work by 6am  so it was very early morning run.  We did 6.2 miles at an overall 7:37 pace in 47:16.  Very good run for that early of a morning especially for my recovery.  8:01, 7:44,7:39,7:36,7:18,7:26.

I had to be at work on a Saturday because we had to power down our system for a upgrade on the cabling and power.  Then had to go back in at 5pm and work till 8pm.  Very long day.
