6.5 miles 57:41 (AP 8:52) 9:39, 9:23, 9:10, 8:38, 8:17, 8:22, 4:10 Yesterday, I went to see my podiatrist. I was considering canceling my appointment, but I had waited 2 weeks to get in to see him. He told me what I already knew...tendonitis in my ankle and a small area of shin splints on my other leg. NO STRESS FRACTURES OR ANYTHING!!!!!! I think that my tendonitis ankle was caused by wearing that darn walking cast for so long last year. It totally made my ankle weak. He gave me a steroid for the shin splint area, told me to wear compression socks and to not run so much. I asked him about barefoot running/wearing minimalist shoes.....he told me that was a crack case....I would tear my body up and die an early death. Okay then..... So I went out for an easy 6.5 miles (I was able to roll my Thanksgiving Point Half Marathon to next year). It felt good even though my first half was SO slow. When I got home, my hubby asked how I felt and I responded "SLOW". Then he gave me the best "food for thought" I've had all day.....AT LEAST YOU ARE RUNNING. Amen!
