Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

Marathon Training Day 2:

I had a hard time focusing this morning (keeping up the speed, how many sets I was doing) and I was having problems with my ipod.  I will admit, I am getting "bored" with aqua running.  I will continue to do it because I want to continue to train, I just hope it is for nothing!

Aqua run (45 minutes - 5 running miles)

5 min warm up

11x2:30 min

5 min cool down

No bike ride today (Tim has YM) or yesterday (it was raining yesterday and I still not that comfortable on a bike)

Hang in there! It will be worth it.

I agree with what auntieem said. You are showing great consistency and dedication with the pool running. The daily exercise habit that you're maintaing will help you as will the physical fitness that you're gaining.

Yeah, its definitely not for nothing. Meaning, it is for something. Meaning, I'm certain it will help you. Good job getting out there and getting some solid exercise!

Toby ~ WAY to be consistent with your xtrain. All that hard work is going to pay off. Nothing comes from nothing. You will come back stronger than ever. Hang in there! So worth it!

Can you do other things, like elliptical? I can not remember. But, doing one thing does get kind of boring, I hear you on that! Stick with it, you will be awesome when you got to RUN run!

Hey girl, you can do it! Hang in there. I need you there on race day with me! We are going to have a blast! Think of race day and how bad you want to be there. Think of Grandpa and how proud he will be of you!

Remember when you weren't comfortable swimming? Pretty soon you're going to be little miss triathlete.

Thanks everybody for your kind words! I just hope my darn ankle cooperates and heals soon so I can run my race! Some days it still feels so achy; I just hope it is healing.
