Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

I was short on time tonight, so I made the best of the situation on the stair climber.  I only had 45 minutes and had to cut out my swim.  I felt so great (mentally and physically).  The stair climber said I did 5 miles.

I can't believe how sore I am from my bike ride yesterday.  I totally need to do it more often!  Must stretch soon!

Off to sew my 3 girls Easter dresses.  Urghhhh....I do this every year.  By the time I finish the first one, I think to myself "I still have 2 MORE dresses to make".  This is going to be the final year - I'm going to buy them in 2011.  Done.

WOW! I think you are amazing that you CAN sew your girls' dresses! That's a talent I never got, , , that's why I was blessed with boys I guess. So cool, you'll have to post a pic of the finished project, I'll bet your girls love to have them! Great way to be efficient on your time today, and nice workout yesterday :)

Ohh, I miss the days of sewing little dresses! Here's the payoff: my 17 year old little girl is now designing her own (for the first time), and I'm helping her with pattern making. Exciting stuff.

Have fun with them! Your girls will remember and treasure the memories of those dresses.

I'm with Amber...I just wish I COULD sew a dress, well more than a straight line :)

Nice job, I'm SO glad you're feeling good! I hate short gym days, makes me feel cheated for the rest of the day. I have noticed that spinning classes have REALLY helped my quad/inner thigh muscles, crazy how a small change makes a big difference.

NICE run yesterday and all that riding and stair climbing! GOOD JOB!

WOW, I'm impressed you're sewing THREE Easter dresses. I did that when my one and only daughter was little. One year I made matching sailor dress and outfit for her and her little brother. Then more kids later, it was a zoo trying to go to the fabric store!

Please post a pic of your creation. What a GREAT mom you are!

Oh, is this the fast sewing blog? I guess I'm in the wrong place.

5 miles of stair climing sounds like plenty of work to me.

It's wonderful that you sew dresses for your girls. I did that a little when my one daughter was littler, and I used to sew Halloween costumes, but I'm getting out of that business.
