We were in St. George for the weekend to celebrate an early Thanksgiving with my grandpa. So running this half was extremely convenient and fulfilled one of the two races required to complete the runners series. Bonus! :)
Beautiful day for a race. It has been a tough week and so my only goals were to run hard and enjoy the moment. I must admit that I was a tad nervous since last time I ran this race I was rewarded with a stress fracture that took over 6 months to completely heal.
I decided to push myself to a hard pace but one that would still allow for a speedy recovery if I needed one at all. One of the greatest lessons I learned this year with all my racing is knowing when I am at that pace. :)
Pleasantly surprised with my time of 1:34:03. Had I known that I was only 13 seconds behind the 3rd place woman in my division I could have pushed harder. Oh well. I will gladly take the 3 1/2 minute PR.
This course is stunning and fast! :)
Splits: 7:04, 7:19, 7:04, 6:40, 6:39, 6:35, 6:50, 7:43, 7:10, 7:19, 7:40, 7:39, 7:28, 6:23 pace (for .16)
Watched Matt, Brooke and my SSF come in and then hurried to the condo to shower and get back in time for the 1 mile Kids Run (4 of my 5 kids ran it). They did SO SO SO good. I was shocked that they had these kids run up and down a significant hill. They were rewarded with a shirt and medal!
Smooth, Brooke, Matt and Me after the race! :)
4 out of the 5 cutest kids EVER after their race! :)
