We were in St. George for the weekend to celebrate an early Thanksgiving with my grandpa. So running this half was extremely convenient and fulfilled one of the two races required to complete the runners series. Bonus! :)

Beautiful day for a race. It has been a tough week and so my only goals were to run hard and enjoy the moment. I must admit that I was a tad nervous since last time I ran this race I was rewarded with a stress fracture that took over 6 months to completely heal.

I decided to push myself to a hard pace but one that would still allow for a speedy recovery if I needed one at all. One of the greatest lessons I learned this year with all my racing is knowing when I am at that pace. :)

Pleasantly surprised with my time of 1:34:03. Had I known that I was only 13 seconds behind the 3rd place woman in my division I could have pushed harder. Oh well. I will gladly take the 3 1/2 minute PR.

This course is stunning and fast! :)

Splits: 7:04, 7:19, 7:04, 6:40, 6:39, 6:35, 6:50, 7:43, 7:10, 7:19, 7:40, 7:39, 7:28, 6:23 pace (for .16)

Watched Matt, Brooke and my SSF come in and then hurried to the condo to shower and get back in time for the 1 mile Kids Run (4 of my 5 kids ran it). They did SO SO SO good. I was shocked that they had these kids run up and down a significant hill. They were rewarded with a shirt and medal!

Smooth, Brooke, Matt and Me after the race! :)

4 out of the 5 cutest kids EVER after their race! :)

You're fast Teena. And so is Payton. All the kids really. Matt looks like he's important.

From Teena Marie on Sun, Nov 07, 2010 at 21:18:18 from 174.19.55.243

Oh Burt, I needed that laugh!!! Oh man ... funny!!! :) :) :)

Matt is AWESOME!!! He was my physiology prof and now a great friend! (And yes, he is very important!!!) :) :) :)

My oldest, is actually the fastest of the kids. She stayed home (with Ry's parents, actually) due to a basketball commitment. I would have loved to have seen what her time would have been.

From Burt on Sun, Nov 07, 2010 at 21:41:22 from 68.225.214.248

They get it a little from Teena, but mostly from Ry. Grrrrowl!

From Smooth on Sun, Nov 07, 2010 at 21:44:44 from 63.228.197.20

You ran soooo smart, speedy and AWESOME! Thanks for being there for me at the finish! You have no idea how much you helped me...in so many ways! I LOVE you so much! You are the most caring person ever, so very sensitive to others needs and always stands ready to help, serve, offer listening ears!!! Seriously, you have no idea how BIG your heart is and how very compassionate you are!!!

Wish I could have stayed to watch my favoritest cutest kids run...but we had to get to Karen's daughter's tennis match. so sorry!!! :(

Amber~

You ran a smokin' fast race!!! I did not know you were racing this until I saw the results. You are AWESOME!!!!

Burt~

You are absolutely correct!!! Ry definitely has much more raw talent than I do. I just work harder at it!!! ;)

Congratulations on the PR. More importantly, congratulations on learning and accepting your limitations. I worry about you running this course but it sounds like your legs held up well.

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Nov 08, 2010 at 12:03:15 from 205.127.70.66

You just keep getting faster and faster. Where it will stop? Nobody knows!

From fly on the Wall on Mon, Nov 08, 2010 at 12:33:53 from 204.113.19.47

How is it that you got a huge PR at a non-goal race? I guess that can happen when you run smart.

I'm conflicted, do I wish I was there so that you could have cheered me across the line, or am I glad that I wasn't there and thus avoided you chicking me? :)

Happy birthday to Payton. Too bad there is not a kids relay 10k or 1/2 that your gaggle could run. That could be great fun.

From RivertonPaul on Mon, Nov 08, 2010 at 14:06:32 from 67.42.27.114

Great run. Sounds like a great day and a great PR.

From RAD on Mon, Nov 08, 2010 at 17:23:18 from 67.172.229.125

EXCELLENT job Teena! I love how effortless a huge PR is for you. You'll have to keep an eye on those kids of yours, they'll be beating your PR's soon!

From Sophia on Mon, Nov 08, 2010 at 21:43:55 from 174.23.216.121

Burt~

Yes, they get their cuteness from Ry as well. Also, my kids are so dang good to me!!! I really am lucky. :)

Julie~

Some tightness in my quads and calves, but nothing too bad. :)

Kathie~

Yes they are!! How is Japan?? :)

Tim~

Thanks! It was great. :)

Andy~

I was worried too! My body did great though!! :) :) :)

Rob~

:) As long as I stay injury free I am one happy girl! :)

Fly~

It was a FAST course ... that's how. :) Btw, what are you talking about? I can barely stay up with you on your easy days!

Paul~

Thanks. A PR is always nice. :)

Rachel~

I wouldn't call it effortless ;). You are so funny. But yes, my kids will be beating me in no time. Rylee could right now if she would train just a little bit. :)

Sophia, Sophia, Sophia!!!! You have a way of making everything inside of me smile! :) :) :) I am the luckiest mom in the world.
