Welcome! I noticed your blog because of your name! Is Sunny your name? We are all looking forward to springtime on the blog so seeing "Sunny" really sparked my attention! Me and my husband, (Tom), are both running bloggies. It's fun to do them both as a team! Hope the running and the blogging will both be enjoyable for you!

From Superfly on Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 12:23:10

My comment was erased too. That's crazy. Must be the Wild Bull hacking into the system and messing with us.

From Dustin on Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 12:43:09

Kim Sunny is her real name and she is my sweet supportive wife. She is still learning about the blog and apparently erased the first blog she made. Thanks for commenting again Clyde, I don't think the Wildbull has hacked into the system yet.

From Ally Holt on Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 13:11:37

Welcome Sunny! I am glad you joined. It actually gets addicting, and helps you to run even if you don't really feel like it! You are doing great!

Yeah! I'm glad you gave in! I was just telling Dustin on Saturday that you need to start a blog. Keep it up. If you are like me you probably don't LOVE running, but it's great to stay in shape! Plus we have to hear about it so much with our hubby's that we might as well join in a little bit!

Good job this morning. I hope to be able to get in a run this evening after Dr.Ed, and the merit badge clinic. Maybe I will just make sure the scouts get there, then go run while they are in class, then be ready to pick them up when they are finished.

2.5 miles on the treadmill in the morning. The 2 miles I decided to try running at a faster speed than I have been so I stepped it up one. I ran them at 10 minute pace. The .5 mile I turned it down to cool down some and did it in 6 minutes. It about killed me but I did it! I am shooting for 15 miles again this week hopefully. I would like to try and get a jogging stroller so I can get out and enjoy the wonderful spring weather!

3 miles I went out with Dustin in the evening.  Ran around La Verkin while we were out we ran into some of our neighbors about the 2nd mile so finished running with them.  It was fun running with a group.  Time went by a lot faster.  Times were 1st mile 10:13 2nd mile 10:44 3rd mile 11:13=31:30 overall

From Kim on Mon, Mar 24, 2008 at 11:05:02

I think the jogging stroller would be a great investment! Running outside definitely beats the treadmill! Especially when the sun is shining! I think there is a thread on strollers in the discussion forum you might want to check out. I haven't looked at it much since it's not something I need, but it may have some good info for you.

From Ally Holt on Mon, Mar 24, 2008 at 11:23:10

But I am feeling good and am going to keep sticking to it. I am sure it will get better. I guess that I have "chick" Dustin this week (according to Sasha) this will be the only time I am sure. From Dustin on Fri, Mar 28, 2008 at 11:17:53

The week is not over yet, don't count me out. Injured or not. Actually I think you and Ally have more miles combined than Dave and I combined this week. Good job with your running. Before long your body should get used to the training.

From Steve Hooper on Fri, Mar 28, 2008 at 13:40:22

Keep it up Sunny! Way to shift your goal up to 20 a week.

From Kim on Fri, Mar 28, 2008 at 13:43:06

I just noticed info about your family. I had three boys first, just like you, and then I got two little girls. My third son's name is Jansen! It's fun to see you have one too! I'm glad you spell it the same! He loves everything about being a Jansen except for when people call him Jason. It drives him crazy. He is almost 14 years old.

Are you guys related to Dr. Ence in Payson? He has treated my oldest son with some major allergy problems. Great doctor!

Oh, and about the running, (since this is a running blog). Great job! Good luck getting ready for that 5K!

From Bethany on Fri, Mar 28, 2008 at 17:20:49

It DOES get a little easier/better. What do they say..."takes 21 days to change/start a habit" Keep it up! As for the 20 miles a week, you can do it! I'm still working on keeping that a consistent thing, but it is a worthy goal!

OK! I got a little carried away listening to our new Toby Keith CD we bought. 3.5 miles in the morning on the treadmill slow and easy. 3.25 miles at 12:00 pace .25 miles at 15:00 pace. I wrapped my knee and took 2- ibuprofen. It felt pretty good the entire run. I never have put this info when I run on the treadmill but the incline is 1.5 that is as low as our treadmill goes and that is what I have always had it at. I am going to ice my knee for sure.

Decided to take Jarren out in the stroller this afternoon. 2 miles ran to my parents and back in the blazing 85* heat. Times if my stroller timer worked right. 8:47 9:28 Not bad if it was working right. Knee felt pretty good I did not wrap it this time out. It was good to get out though and enjoy the sunshine.

Great job Sunny. That's a good time with a jogging stroller. It usually slows me down at least a min. per mile--especially if it's windy! And don't even get me started on the hills, ug! I keep it easy for my knees sake.   I would like to try running the La Verkin 5K loop Dustin measured out and get an idea outside rather than on the treadmill.  Maybe tonight if I get some time.  The wind is just blowing so hard here so I did not want to go out with the stroller.

I am still a beginner as far as I am concerned.

Going on a field trip with Jansen's kindergarten class to the wildlife museum in St George. I will have to run tonight.

After I got back from the field trip I helped my dad trim his hedge which took several hours because it was rather large. Then as we were getting ready to go Jarren fell down the concrete stairs and hit his mouth and loosened a tooth so I had to take him over to St George to the dentist to check it out. Ends up he has cracked his jaw and it loosened his tooth. So my day has been very eventful. But I did finally get a short run in and it has been my best time so far! and even in the wind!

2 miles in the evening to the bridge and back. VERY windy!! Time 18:00

I did have to get up several time last night with Jarren that may be why I'm still tired. I would like to go do 2 more miles tonight too.

I got in a car accident with Jansen and Jarren this afternoon so I may not go out tonight. I'm a bit shaken up. Luckily no one got hurt thank goodness. It was not my fault, but looks like I'll be a few days without my car.

I would have gone longer but my son unplugged the treadmill so it was a sudden stop at a good time I guess. I went outside and walked it off some in the nice wind. I might have to go run some more later tonight so I can at least get 15 miles for the week.  I did not sleep very well last night I kept having flash backs from the accident yesterday.  The reason why I am thinking because I have only been in 2 car accidents and 17 years ago was when the other one happened and it actually happened at the exact intersection.  What is the chances of that?!?  The other weird thing was My sister and I were actually talking about the 1st accident while we were walking to the school to pick up our boys that morning.  Ok I better quit rambling on.

Time I think was around 10:20 I really can't remember to be honest.  My day was very busy.  I had to deal with the insurance and appraisers about getting our car fixed.  Then I had to get our car towed to St George and then meet them at the auto body shop to sign paper work.  What a long day!  And to top that off I had Jarren barfing all day too.

One of the blessed parts of having a family of all boys--the annual father and son's campout! Now can't Dustin take Jarren? Perhaps next year. I got unlucky on last years fathers and son's because I had a son come down with strep so he stayed home, then the youngest came down with it while up on the mountain so they all came home early :( I am looking forward to ours at the end of May. Ran the Boot Scoot 5K here in Craig, Colorado with Dustin. Well he left me in the dust and then came back to get me. He took 1st place. They did not have any awards or even timed us. Not even any after race treats either. Dustin had his Garmin and the race was not quite a 5K even. But according to my watch my time was 26:42. They did not have the miles marked so I don't know the splits for them. There were some major hills most of the race. But I am glad I got up and ran it. I was the 2nd girl that finished. I ran with the 1st girl most of the way she had her dog with her. Then Dustin came back and got me and ran with me about .5 left of the race.

Dustin and I (with Jarren in the stroller) did a loop I'll refer to as the Overlook 5K. Basically left our house, ran down main street, past Farmer's Market, then down through the Overlook Subdivison and back home on 300 West. For some reason we slower than normal.  Time:  33:00  (10:41/10:37/10:33/1:08)  It probably did not help much having Wendy's for dinner but our neighbor friends invited us to go there with them.  And that we did not get out to run until 10:00 pm.  The weather was get though!

Time: 26:14 I did take the garmen today just to make sure it really was a 2.5 route and it is. Splits: 10:58/10:13/5:00 A bit slow but I was pushing the stroller which happened to get a flat in the middle of mile 1 plus dodging the cars that don't want to stop at stop signs slowed me down some too. Tried to go on a run this morning but the jogging stroller had another flat tire. So I got the crummy stroller out (crummy meaning not intended to run with) and walked Jansen to school and then tried to jog with this crummy stroller. Yes, that was a sight in itself to see. I am sure who ever saw me out running was laughing hysterically. So I cut my run really short and I did not keep a time because of the circumstances. But I do know that I tried to run 1.5 miles and had a good laugh for the day!

I have to add one more mile.  I jogged to the school and back to pick up Jansen.  I also have to add this is my redneck running day because I was in flip flops this time.   I just felt like I need to jog some more for some reason and so I did!

Crummy stroller. As I remember it was top of the line when we bought it. Hopefully, we can get the jogging stroller fixed.

From Sunny on Wed, Sep 03, 2008 at 15:12:33

It was top of the line 10 years ago. And certainly is not intended to be used as a jogging stroller by any means! that is what I was referring to as "crummy"

From wildbull on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 13:34:37

that would of been a good video on u tube! sounds like you better get that stroller on the honey do list right away!

Good news at the Ence home.  We found out yesterday that we got the house we put an offer on and they would like to close by the end of the month.  So we will be busy the next few weeks, getting everything ready for closing, packing up the house and making the move, all while Dustin is trying to get ready for the marathon.  We're pretty excited as the house is quite a bit bigger and just a year old.

Glad the stroller is back! Maybe we can do some more easy miles tonight. I'll probably do a longer run when I get home from Driver's Ed.

I didn't like going down State Street as much as I thought I would, to hard to run with another person and be able to visit without running off the curb or getting hit by a car.

No run today. I was dressed and all ready to go on a run but instead I helped my dad most of the day haul and stack hay. He really needed some help.  So that was a work out in itself. Those hay bales are HEAVY!!!  I am not sure many people have stacked hay in running clothes.  Very itchy and pokey I might add.

Wow! If you can stack hay all day then you are even a more wonder woman than I already thought! I think anyone who pushes kids in strollers while running are wonder women in and of themselves! You do both! Great job! I'll bet your daddy was happy to have your help!

From Dustin on Thu, Sep 25, 2008 at 12:20:03

Not only did you stack hay, you did it in running clothes, I'm sure that was fun.
