I used the Salt Lake City Half Marathon as a training run.  I did bandit the race and I did not feel bad about it.  This course goes through places I train everyday, so it was nice to know the terrain.  My goal for the race was to have a better time than last year.  Previous time was: 1:38 something.

I started off and my legs felt knotty, heavy, and sore.  I felt like my body was extremely tired.  Ran, ran, and ran some more.  My favorite part of the course was downtown Sugar House.  My least favorite part was going up State Street.  Pure DEATH march.  I had a lot of fun pacing off other runners during the race.

I finished within seconds of my last year's time.  This frustrated me a bit do to the fact I have been running much more than I was last year.  I had come off a recent injury last year, and this year I had no excuses.  It's time to make a plan to get out of my 3:20 marathon times and 1:30 half marathon times.  I have been on a plateau for about two years now.

You did really well Babe! You and I both know that we aren't going to have the best race every time. The fact that you went out feeling sore, knotty, and tired really factors into that. You went to bed quite late after a dance party where you went pretty crazy! I liked it ;) Anyways... Those things considered, I would say you did well. You can't base your current fitness level off this race. I bet if you had been training for it (to actually race and not just a training race) and had gotten proper rest etc, you would have dominated last year's time. There are sooo many factors in running it's just ridiculous. Don't be too hard on yourself.

That means that you can prepare for our half coming up! Get good rest and have proper training. I bet you'll do awesomely! I am excited to race it with you! Good race though! I am proud of you and I was extremely happy to see you at my meet! This is a really long comment.

It's all those slow people you have to run with all the time that keeps you from getting faster :)

Nice work! I'm glad you did it and I don't think you should feel bad about the time. This is off a Marathon and with no taper. Chin up! You are amazing!
