David and I ran the half-marathon on base today.  In Del Rio it hardly rains, the wind always blows, and it's usually a little humid.  Starting temp was around 40, the wind blew fiercely and it was very wet.

Course went all over the base.  I was surprised that we didn't have to loop anything twice, since the base isn't too big.   We ran on the runway and around the flight line, which is something I can't ever say I have done, nor will do again.  The mist was so thick I couldn't see the end of the runway and I followed the other runners in front of me trying not to get lost.  Wind was extremely intense.

At the mile 9 aid station they had snickers and starbursts.  I laughed when I saw the candy and the volunteer giving them out had a pretty big laugh too.  Just thinking about eating a Snicker's bar during a race is kind of gross.  I think I would get super thirsty.

I can't say that I had a time that I am very proud of.  I don't really know what my focus is as far as speed and training.  I'm a little frustrated with my goals and how I can accomplish them. Wasn't happy about my race, I really wanted to land a 1:38.  I guess I didn't do too bad considering my husband was only ten minutes faster than me... Then again, he hasn't trained at all.  Oh well.

We stood around after the race for about an hour to wait for the awards.  It was extremely cold and wet.   I did take the overall lady but the race does not recognize overall winner, just age divisions.  It's fun to do the free races the recreation department puts on, gets a few people involved.

CONGRATS!! I know you aren't super pleased with the time, but you took 1st overall - kicked some booty and showed those people who you are! :) David is just crazy fast, we know girls can go longer :) Besides running for us isn't all speed, it's about socializing and stress relief - and a few prizes and kickin' some booty!

Let the disappointments go. You are awesome and the wind was CRAZY and it was raining. You ARE an exceptional runner. Allow yourself that pat on the back for your awesomeness coming through. If you don't I'll kick your butt in 3 days :)

ditto everything RAD said! :)

I know someone who actually would eat a snicker bar in a race!
