I highly enjoyed one of my last runs with the BBKs.  I appreciate running the more I run with them for some reason.  Instead of talking myself out of getting up, I just get up!  I think it's because I know Rachel will be there and I get to hang out with her for a few hours.  I have become her personal running stalker.  No joke!  I find so much joy when I run with her.

We started late for the warm up.  Ran a mile or so up Butterfield Canyon and came back down.

Main workout:  3 miles up the canyon, 3 miles down.  I felt amazing THE ENTIRE time.  :)  It was fun to run with Rachel and protect her from the beast creatures.  I was a little scared myself as we ran up in the dark.

Cool down: Up and down the canyon again.  I don't have a watch so I have no idea paces, just go off of Rachel.

We ended with 11.8!  Watched a tarantula crawl under Rachel's car.  It gave me the chills.  Those spiders are huge!  I imagined sleeping under the stars and having one of those crawl on me during the night.  *Nightmares*

hi becca, seriously a tarantula? where in the heck is Butterfield Canyon? It sounds like it is crawling with creepy crawlers (I read Kelli's blog too). YIKES.

You just like running with me because you can run slow and still get a good laugh in :) I'm going to miss you when you go. Who will protect me from the mtn lions?!?

I need to email the picture to myself and post it. Good times :)

Julie, Butterfield Canyon is just South of Kennecott and goes over into Tooele. Probably about 12600South and 8400West in Salt Lake Valley. If you ever want to run it, let me know! I live just 3 short miles from the gate and I'd love to host you. Also, in the fall to spring they close the road to traffic so we get it all to ourselves - and the bikers. You can go 3.5 miles up before it gets really nasty and I've only ever made it up 4 before turning. I think you can go a total of 6 up to the top though. Someday when I'm cool I'm going to run all the way to Tooele!

I posted a picture of the tarantula on my Tuesday entry if anyone is interested in a creep out :)
