So today I experienced one of the coolest races!!!!  I did an all women bike race.  It was the Rockwell Relay and I did it with three new friends.  The relay went from Snowbasin to Provo.

In May a gal I worked with asked me if I wanted to do a bike race.  I have a hard time telling people no, so I decided to do it since I needed to get out on my bike and all.  Well, the race came and I hadn't trained one day on my bike in the past year.  I was nervous.

When my leg started I hopped on my bike and I was shaking.  I NEVER get nervous like that for running races but for some reason I was going to die.  My tendon was swollen and hurting for some reason and I was scared that I was going to injure the poor foot even more.  I rode on.

The start of my uphill leg which was 21 miles and the 1,067 feet of climbing was actually going ok.  I treated this like I was in a spin class and I was just warming up.  I rode from Morgan past East Canyon Lake up and into the next valley.  I ran this leg during the Ragnar last year so I knew what was coming.  I climbed, and climbed and climbed!  Out of nowhere the BIGGEST STEEPEST hill was in sight.  "Crap,"  I said to myself, " I really don't want to get off and walk that beast."  I put my hills forward and started digging.  I started singing the ABC's very slowly to get my mind off of the situation.  It hurt, I climbed, and I made it to the top after I went through the ABC's three times.  I went down a little hill and started another.  After the hills I sailed into town.  AMAZING!!!!

My second leg went from Midway down Provo Canyon.  I actually didn't like this leg as much because of the crazy traffic.  I was frightened and held my brakes most of the way down.

I rode around 45 miles.  Not much, but that was the furthest I've rode and it was super fun and not as hard as I thought it would be.  It took our team of four to complete the race in 11 hours and 30 minutes.  And my tendon actually felt better.
