1 mile walking on TM, then lower body weights, then core.

My calf feels much better this morning!! I won't know until I try and run on it, but I really think my PT work yesterday helped.

I played with my new stationary bike tonight. I really like the feel of it. It is just like riding a road bike. I'm still trying to figure out how to use the app with it though and how to use it with Zwift. I probably road for about 30 minutes.

Pilates, then some ladder work to get my claves warmed up, then 2 mile TM run building speed so that at the end I was running sub 7 minute pace.  My claf did really well.  It felt strong like I could push off fully and only had the slightest of discomfort.  No the test will be how it feels later in the day.

30 minutes on the indoor bike while watching the Astros win and throw a combined no hitter in the World Series.

Pilates. Core. Lower body. 1mile TM finishing fast.

calf not bothering me when running but a little bit tight just sitting around. I went to PT and had some more work done with needling. I think I'm going to be good to go for the marathon next week.

It was a beautiful morning for a run, low 50s, sunny and calm. Hopefully we get perfect weather for race day next week although I'm almost never that lucky.
I started out running uphill to the top of Cherry Tree for 6 miles at an easy pace. My legs felt really good. Then right at the top I felt a little twinge in my left calf, the opposite one that was bothering me so I stretched a bit before running down. I was trying to run mp but I ended up being 15 seconds per mile too fast. 7:49 pace running downhill just feels so slow and too easy but I know I need to be disciplined and not go too fast on race day or I'll fall apart at the end. Anyways those last 6 downhill were easy but I did feel a little tightness in my calf as it went on. Now late in the day it is sore but not terribly so. I'm going to have to be very careful this week so that it is good to go on race day.

1/4 mile warm up walk on TM then,

Pilates, then 30 minutes (10 miles) on stationary bike.

Calf feels good this morning.  I may try and do a short TM run or maybe some jump rope tonight.  Trying to error on the side of caution with the calf since race day is this Saturday.

1/4 mile warm up walk on TM.

Core work.

Lower body weights, only to sets of everything instead of the normal 3.

10 minutes jump rope

1 mile on TM stating very slow and gradually building until the last 1/4 mile at sub 6 minute pace.

Calfs felt good.  Had good push off.  No niggles until like the very last step of the mile run when I felt a tiny little something in my left calf.  It seems fine now so hopefully it was nothing.  I usually know by the end of the day.  Hopefully I won't have any tightness or knotts in the calf this evening.

Yesterday evening my left calf was definitely sore.  This is giving me big cause for concern since race day is Saturday.  I did some massage and stretching.  This morning it felt much better.  I am not going to run or do any type of exercise that stresses my calfs until the race.

30 minutes stationary bike this morning riding easy except for 2 1 minute hard pushes.

Pilates then a visit to the PT. My left calf is a mess. Not sure I'll be able to race Saturday. I'm going to try though.

Sat in the hot tub for a bit before packing up and heading out to Blake's for the marathon tomorrow. Still very worried about my calf.

Big Bear Marathon

My calf was bothering me last night so I KT taped it and told Blake that if it didn't feel better in the morning I wasn't going to run. When I got up this morning I tested it out with a little run up and down his street and decided to give it a go.

It was a perfect day to run a marathon, cold and sunny with no wind and a serious downhill course. Blake and I ran together from the start keeping our pace right at my BQ qualifying time of 3:25. My calf bothered me on and off from the start but I decided to go as far as it would let me. We had so much fun running and talking. The miles went by quickly. At about mile 22 I started laboring a bit and my calf started hurting more. I continued to press on and mad it past mile 25 still on pace to BQ when suddenly my calf quit and I told Blake to continue on. I had to walk the last mile which was no fun and I clearly lost a lot of time and didn't BQ, but I loved the race just getting to run with Blake. We really had a lot of fun. He finished strong in 3:25:21.

Pilates.  Core.  Then had to ride my bike to work since my truck is in the shop. Only 3 miles each way.

Legs feel pretty darn good but still mild soreness in calves left more than right.

I did some stretching and light core work this morning before sitting in the hot tub for 30 minutes.  Recovery week is a pretty sweet gig.  My legs feel really good.  Only the left calf hurts still.  I think I could run if not for that strain.  I still feel it even just walking.

It was really cold outside up here in Utah so I did a little core work and warm up then ran a very slow mile on the TM when my calf told me to stop. I guess it isn't fully recovered from the marathon. So sad because I wanted to get up in the mountains and do some trail running this week.
