No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

5:00am

It was a great morning for a run (low 50's, clear sky, slight breeze), but I just wasn't "into" it. I didn't eat anything yesterday and didn't sleep well last night either. What did I expect anyway? I am slowly becoming aware of how much fuel affects my performance and attitude toward running.

brrrrrrr! I don't know what the temp was, but most of my fingers went numb about 5 miles in. Other than that it was a pretty good run. I felt a lot better than I did on Monday. I think I'll double up today so I can rest tomorrow before my last long run on Friday. Next week I'm planning to do another double in place of my long run. I'm not sure how that will actually work out since getting in any miles at all will be a challenge while I'm on the road.

A little warmer and a little faster. I didn't run any harder than I did this morning, it just seemed easier. Friday will be a slow and easy run...

I guess I just don't know easy. I tried starting out slow and the first mile was 7:28. I ended up down in the teens by the end of the run. I sure hope I have this problem on race day. For what it's worth, it was slower than last week's 20 miler. Does that count as taking it easy? Only 2 weeks til race day! It's all down hill from here.
