Long-Term Running Goals: Run a 5k under 18:00 Personal: Have been active my whole life, but turned my focus to running in 2006 after deciding to run a marathon. I really enjoy the training aspect and staying healthy, but mileage has been on the decline over the past 3 years due to work commitments, so focus has turned away from races and more on just staying fit enough to still enjoy getting out. | What a great day! Did 1 hr xc ski on the willow creek trails while lacy was at the gym. After we went out to brunch followed by a nap. Got up and caught the bus to Round Valley where I toured around on my fat xc skis, saw some elk and skied home which took about 2 hrs. Relaxed with a cold brew when I got home. 1 mi warm up/6 x 75 second rep w/ 3:00 walk/1 mi cool down. Did this on the frontage rd by the roundabout. i only took my watch, no GPS, cuz I just wanted to run by feel. Proabaly went a little harder than I should have, but felt good to go fast. I think I'll wear my GPS or go to the track @ the gym next time to watch the pace.

2 mi warm up with Griffin on the trails. Then out to the roundabout for 6 x :75 second reps w/ 3:00 walk after, 1 mi cool down. Wore my Garmin today to see splits which were 5:50, 5:40, 5:30 for the last 4. I felt a little sluggish starting out today, so i'm ok with the 5:30 pace, but would like these to be in the 5:15-ish range when i feel better. Will start wearing my Garmin more on these workouts to get pacing feedback while effort is still determined by feel.

Took Griffin on the trails for warm up. then did 2 x 3:00 w/ 2:00 jog and 4 x :75 w/ 3:00 walk. the 3:00 sections were 6:00 pace and I felt pretty crappy. I htink I need more stamina building runs before I go for longer intervals. :75 second sections were 5:40 pace and felt pretty relaxed. Probably could've pushed harder.

After a month of long nights and preparations lacy and I have relocated to Dallas Texas to be closer to family. Gonna be a huge change from Utah but after 14 years in the great state it feels pretty good to try something different. Was able to keep my job thru the end of the year so am very greatful to have one less thing to worry about. Stoked to be with lacy again(she made the move 3 weeks before me to start a new job) and life is looking like its gonna be alright

I ran around the boys Ranch/McLain rd/sparger trail and back. Found sparger trail by luck. Pretty cool asphalt trail about 2 miles from my house. Rather hilly and most of the trail is shaded and runs by nice creek. Will be hitting this up more often for sure
