Personal:

Married with 2 lively boys. I love running and I love getting faster. Just trying to figure out how to balance life between being a mother, wife, part time nurse, and runner. :)

When I was in 6th grade I filled out a Getting to Know You sheet. Under nicknames I wrote, "My brothers call me Boo Legs, I think its because I run fast." (It really came from the movie, Strange Brew) And its been my family nickname ever since.

Baby boy made his appearance 10 days ago. He didnt mess around. My water broke at 12 pm and by 2:30, he was here. 7 lbs, 3 oz, 19 inches. We are already in love.

The last 10 days have been full of getting to know each other (and sleeping....or NOT sleeping). I felt good enough to run last Wednesday (did natural childbirth this time, recovery has been sooooo much better!) but held off until today. I did the whole run a minute, walk a minute thing. Made it 3.2 miles, average pace 12:00 min/mi. Speedy gonzalez eh? I am excited to get back into running but I know it will take time and patience to let my body finish healing. Would love any tips from others on getting back into running after pregnancy?

Speaking of new baby soon...Congrats! I'm glad to hear things went well for you with L&D. Hopefully recovery will also go smoothly. I'm impressed that you are already up and about doing Galloway workouts. It's funny, but 12 minute miles is nothing to sniff at, especially 10 days postpartum.

Be cautious. From head to toe, your ligaments are loosey goosey, thanks to the relaxin hormones that helped your baby come so quickly after labor's onset. Just run easy for at least 3 months while things firm up a bit. You could maybe target a semi-serious half marathon in the spring.
