Personal:

Married with 2 lively boys. I love running and I love getting faster. Just trying to figure out how to balance life between being a mother, wife, part time nurse, and runner. :)

When I was in 6th grade I filled out a Getting to Know You sheet. Under nicknames I wrote, "My brothers call me Boo Legs, I think its because I run fast." (It really came from the movie, Strange Brew) And its been my family nickname ever since.

1/2 mile repeats with 3 minute recovery jog in between. This was a confidence booster for me. The goal was to start at 3:20 and work my way down for 10 repeats. It went like this: 3:20, 3:19, 3:18, 3:17, 3:16, 3:15, 3:14, 3:13, 3:12, 3:11. I did this on a treadmill so I was able to go exactly a second faster each time. I felt good. My goal for Huntsville is to be in the 3:20-3:15 range. I'm hopeful.

You have reason to be hopeful.

Thanks Kam and Allie. Kam, you did Huntsville last year right? Are you doing it again? Any pearls of wisdom?

Pearls of wisdom? Read my race report from last year.

Or just try this: Run even effort splits. Don't hammer the first 16 miles. You run out of deep downhill at that point, and the work really starts. If you've blown up the first 3/5ths of the course, you are going to be in trouble for the last 10 miles.

Make one of these course specific pace bands. The last 10k is flat as can be. Save yourself to finish with authority. You will do great.
