We had a frustrating professional development day at school - no students. Everything has to be common (lessons, pacing, assessments etc.) and AI is the essence of existence. Two more years will test my powers of passive aggression and civil disobedience.

I'm proud of my 30 year teaching career and my 24 years at Alta High but there used to be so much more space for individual initiative and creativity in teaching. I suspect that in the future we will have fewer truly bad teachers but also fewer great teachers.

That's too bad- let people play to their strengths.

What do you mean AI is the essence of existence?

They want us to use AI to do everything, plan lessons, grade assignments, provide feedback to students etc.

Really? That's lame. Don't like that. Of course, then we're supposed to believe the kids won't follow course and use AI for their homework...

It is interesting to see how Universities are approaching it. One of my institutions is a bit more cautious, the other is right in love with it.
