Had a fair amount of success as a Masters runner for most of my 40s. Short-Term Running Goals: Have fun with running, explore more trails, stay healthy. Long-Term Running Goals: Keep running and racing consistently for as long as I can. Find what is sustainable for me over the long run. Personal: I teach AP European History and other courses at Alta High School. I coached the track and cross country teams at Alta for 16 years.

Watching Ken Burns American Revolution series. It points out that in England in 1760, the richest 2% of the population controlled 67% of the wealth and that America was settled by people who resented that exclusion. In the U.S. today the richest 2% control 61% of the wealth.

Before Andy left for Marine Corps boot camp I had a conversation with him about the Uniform Code of Military Justice and how it's his responsibility to disobey illegal orders. I specifically made him promise me that he would resist any order to use force against American citizens whe aren't threatening him. This was something that was taught to me in basic training, at Officer Candidate School, and at the Infantry Officer Basic Course.
Appatently this is controversial now.

My son Andy has hand foot and mouth disease and is temporarily (we hope!) out of action at Marine Corps boot camp in San Diego. Bummer because he won't get to graduate on time with the platoon he started with and will have to join another platoon mid-cycle.
