I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.
Short-Term Running Goals:
I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.
Long-Term Running Goals:
Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.
Personal:
I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.
San Diego. Treadmill so I could be with Margaret working out. I hate treadmills. This one didn’t want to cooperate. Slow miles because of that. I had it set for 7 mph but I had to fight it so it looks like slow miles. I worked hard. Driving home soon.
Ran just before noon because I drove people to the stake trek. Was way to hot out and I struggled. 10:14, 10:50, 10:27, and 11:51 with 24 to finish. Walked a little in each of miles two three and four.
AM already hot at 8:30. Intense sun for early but better than yesterday. 41:12 with 10:10 pace. 10:22 10:32 9:44 and 10:05. 30 sec to finish. Normal hilly course. New shoes have 12 miles on them now.
